Loved the cozy log cabin. Great food and staff very pleasant. Only disappointment was our room never got cleaned.

Our stay was fabulous. Service, food, cabin, and the horses and goats were so cute! The only thing I am disappointed about is the gratuity fee the hotel charged. I was unaware. We tipped everyone and if we knew about the gratuity fee being included we would have not tipped. We did enjoy our stay and just be aware of all the extra fees and taxes that get charged. It’s a beautiful place!!!

The actual stay was awesome, food, dinner, and comforts were up to expectation and on brand with my previous experiences here. However, I booked a two night stay through hotels.com, and was informed after I checked in that I would have to check out the next morning because they were closing. Due to the price of finding another place to stay on the same day, I just cut my ski trip short and went home. I have yet to be reimbursed for the night I was unable to stay, despite talking to two people at LMR and one person at hotels.com customer service. And now

Beautiful setting! Lovely stay!

unique cabin experience in big sky during late winter/early spring. everything provided here was good quality, as well as services. Finally, I would say it's best family friendly lodging in big sky area, and we will be back.

Lone Mountain Ranch is a one of a kind montana experience. It’s quiet, peaceful western ranch vibe is just what is needed for an ideal vacation. The staff is welcoming and kind. Even if you’re not staying at LMR, the horn and cattle is a gem of a restaurant.

Great place, great staff

This is the ultimate Montana experience! There is a fancy restaurant on site, but the sleigh ride dinner is the highlight. Tons of activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing etc. on the property. Excellent hospitality (morning coffee delivered to your cabin, luggage service).

Amazing property…service was second to none!

Wonderful!

The Ranch is beautiful. It was not clear where to check in, but once you entered the Outpost building, everything was there. VERY cordial staff in a beautiful surrounding. The cabins are incredible, complete with a woodturning fireplace or stove. There was a welcome basket in our room complete with a bag of carrots to feed the horses! Dinner at the Horn and Cantle was incredible and do not miss the Sleigh Ride dinner. What a magical place!

We loved our stay. The property has so much to offer, the staff is super friendly, and the ranch is convenient to the mountain and village. We loved the early morning coffee service and the food at the restaurant was fantastic. I can't imagine a better experience.

A unique accommodation in a log cabin on a huge ranch perfect for outdoorsy people:
50 miles of Nordic trails, delicious breakfast, wood stove, welcoming basket, super friendly staff

This property is absolutely beautiful. The staff is amazing and we were incredibly sad to leave. Will definitely be back.

Amazing place! Can't wait to go back!!

Unbelievable setting, top notch restaurant and to die for cross country skiing and snow shoeing on property and big sky downhill skiing 10 minute drive.

We were made to feel by all the staff that every other guest on the property was more important than us. We were celebrating a very special occasion, but we were treated as if we were a nuisance. From check-in, where the receptionist was visibly annoyed that she needed to assist us, to being ignored by the hostess as the restaurant where we had a dinner reservation, we were made to feel like chopped liver. It was awful. There were many other mishaps in terms of the service we received that I would be happy to discuss with the property manager, because I know that they would not want their guests to feel unwelcome as we were. On a positive note, our cabin was wonderful, we loved the coffee delivery, and the property beautiful.

The property was great, the area was amazing, the horse ride was so beautiful and the staff were all super nice. That said, the room was surface clean, all surfaces were clean, but I had a hard time breathing in there, the spaces under the beds had such a thick layer of dust the wood was barely visible. It was no wonder we had a hard time breathing in there. We ended up sweeping the room and spraying it down ourselves. Honestly, we lived with it, but if you have severe asthma, probably not the best place to stay. The place was really a nice place to stay, but not a single staff member had a mask on, which meant zero guests had masks on, and there was no distancing at all. They supplied masks, and had made changes like no turn down service, but there was zero safe distancing practices from staff and zero mask wearing so it totally defeats the purpose. It was really concerning that they would put guests and staff members at risk like that. We wanted a break from COVID lockdown but it wasn’t a relaxing experience because we were told they had taken measures to “be safe” before we went there, but in reality it was the most unsafe we’ve felt in months of lockdown. We ended up pretty much locking ourselves in the cabin outside of some distanced activities outside. If a safe getaway during the pandemic is what you’re looking for, this isn’t it. That said, it was a nice resort, with great staff, and a great property. But overall, the experience landed us at an “OK.”

Walking around facilities was dangerous: ice everywhere and no attempt by operators to clear, salt or sand to reduce risk

From the moment you arrive until you depart you feel special. Excellent customer service! Property is your own slice of heaven. What an amazing place to visit. Make sure you spend more than one night. The saloon and restaurant are both fun and tasty.

Beautiful location and excellent service! Great bar with live music.

Incredible location being next to big sky ski resort. The cabins were impeccable. Clean, cozy and had all the amenities you would want for an off the grid night. The dinner and breakfast at the restaurant on site was incredible. Service here is second to none. We’re looking forward to coming back this summer.

Really beautiful location and very cool grounds. The s’mores by the fire and restaurant on property are a five star experience, The cabins are pretty rustic, beds and furniture are decent but what you would expect for a log cabin.

Beautiful setting. Our cabin to have a stream running right by it. Wonderful variety at breakfast. Staying for six days, we never got tired of the breakfast. The staff is mixed. This resort hires college students on summer break. Their enthusiasm is delightful, their technique’s not perfect, but they are all great kids and try hard. The seasoned workers are more professional. We were at this resort on the bed and breakfast plan and did not avail ourselves of any activities.

Came out to Montana to look at property. We chose LMR because we didn’t want to do the usual condo rental. It was a good choice. The service is great - zero complaints, great friendly people. The best part of the LMR is that it felt like we were alone. We rarely saw other guests. It felt like we’d rented the entire place.
The cabins are more than adequate. There’s no TV ( bravo!) but there is WiFi , a wood burning stove, super comfortable bedding, a couch, Coffee/tea, great bathroom. Super nice cabin. In short it’s very quiet and it was nice to be away - really away.
Restaurant is convenient- Always open with coffee/tea available. Food is really good - several choices that were tasty at best. Breakfast is a nice touch before heading out. Local coffee.
We went for a snowshoe walk ( we “ snowshoed” I guess). Lotta trails and really scenic ones at that. There is $15 cost for a pass plus the snowshoe rental - fair enough. Rental shop is great , as are the people there. Apprentice this is the place for XC skiing. It’s not my thing but there are loads of trails that extend into public lands.
Stunning scenery abounds in the entire area. Ranch is 5 miles or so from the Big Sky Resort ( also uncrowded ). Easy drive even in snow. We also drove over into the Northern aspects of Yellowstone - about 30 minutes.
The area, BS generally , has NO chain or franchise businesses. Fantastic ! We used local restaurants , grocery stores and other merchants!

My daughter and I chose Lone Mountain Ranch for a long weekend getaway because we both wanted to learn to cross country ski. We stayed in Bitterroot cabin and found it quite comfortable; we even spent one morning just enjoying the fire in the wood stove and watching a movie on our computer. I appreciated all the sets of hooks for drying wet clothes and the stove was great for warming our boots and gloves. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was updated and modern with a great rain shower and extra nozzle which felt good after a long day of skiing.
the staff at Lone Mountain are all top notch from the moment we were picked up at the airport until we were dropped off for our flight home. Martha, our ski instructor, was excellent, and we both learned to ski after taking one lesson and practicing on the beginner trails at Lone Mountain. The bartenders in the saloon are all extremely pleasant and helpful. Food and drinks were all amazing. I would love to return to the ranch someday for more skiing or just a relaxing weekend in a lovely setting.
