I enjoyed my visit very much until I got a phone call asking if I had taken a bird house from the property. I was disgusted and very upset. I would never steal.
I was driving when I got the call and could hardly hear what she was saying. It made my 5 hr drive very anxious. I called back when I got to my destination and had to leave a message requesting I get a call back. No one has ever called me back.
So sad because I did enjoy the wonderful breakfast served every morning. The home is very interesting and filled with wonderful things to check out. I won’t go back.

Overall enjoyable stay. Good breakfast. Helpful owner. Except for some evening noise from the room below us, quiet and pleasant.

Third time staying at The Island House. Check-in was easy and the breakfast was wonderful, as usual! The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel at home. We can’t wait to go back!

We loved our stay at Island House of Wanchese! Beautiful home. Lots of nostalgia. Convenience of everything but also tucked away in a quiet dreamy island town. Hosts were great and breakfast is wonderful!! Definitely recommend!

Check in was easy but we were not welcomed very warmly.we were quickly told that we were not in a parking space and would need to move our car. Breakfast was served buffet style but no host or hostess was seem to see if our needs were being met. Everything was clean and inviting but the shower was growing a field of mildew along the base. It doesn’t take much effort to clean that now before it gets worse.

It was wonderful but please warn guests of steep, narrow steps to 2nd floor rooms. They were manageable for me but could be difficult if you have a bad back or breathing problems.

Jeanne was a great host. The suite was cozy and quiet. Bed slept wonderful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices between hot items, friut and juices. Enjoyed our stay, will definitely enjoy another visit in the future. The house has so many antiques and tons of charm and character. Thank you for being such a wonderful host.

We absolutely loved our stay! Quaint rooms with everything you need. The bed was amazing, as was the breakfast with lots of options ranging from various fruits to cooked Southern breakfast staples. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Jeanne, the owner. We definitely recommend the Island House of
Wanchese and hope to return soon ourselves!

Classic bed and breakfast - breakfast was delicious and freshly made and the bed and sheets were very comfortable. We very much enjoyed the hospitality.

This was our third BnB on our current extensive trip in the USA.
The room and bed were comfortable and clean. The host was pleasant but not overly interested in us as a couple or the trip we are undertaking.
There was a good selection of food laid on for breakfast but no explanation to non Americans of what anything was which was a bit off putting when you are not familiar with regional delicacies.
The Wi-Fi was terrible which unfortunately was important to us.
Our bathroom was tiny, which we appreciate in such older style properties can be an issue but it needed a total upgrade with really poor mastic preventing water escaping.
The property looks tired and slightly stuck in a time warp.
We did venture out to the gazebo and it was nice to watch the humming birds but with two overflowing ashtrays I found this a bit off putting.
This was mid range of the prices we have paid on this trip and didn’t live up to expectation- sorry

The first time we stayed at a B&B and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The breakfast were different each morning but delicious every morning. Would definitely stay here again

The property was just lovely. Beautifully landscaped and such a pretty detached screened porch. The bedroom was roomy and the bed was super comfy. My sister and I stayed the night and enjoyed the staff and felt very at home. We would definitely stay there again !!!

It was just an amazing property!!! Beautiful landscaping ,beautiful rooms, wonderful hosts and they had a delicious breakfast ready each day. The hosts love on site which is a nice toich and adds to the experience. Would most DEFINITELY return!!!

I was looking forward to this Wanchese Inn but I was notified about ten days before our stay that there was a
problem with the room we would have been staying in
and there was not another room available for the dates we were interested in. I guess the Inn doesn't communicate
this with Expedia

This was a very relaxing loxation in a well kept 100 year old inn. The room was comfortable. The hostess was very gracious and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. An intimate location to cekebrate or 51st anniversary.
