No AC! What first world country lodging facility in Maine has no AC? Ours didn’t! Did we check online to see if it did not have AC? No. But honestly, whoever does? What RCI timeshare facility does not have AC? If I could post a picture of my husband holding the thermometer up in our room, it would read 82°. Yes they even have thermometers in the room to prove that it’s super hot and you need to pay $20 extra a day to have a unit delivered to your room and have the skinniest woman alive no, we did not rent an AC. We asked for a Fan. And when that did not cut it, We asked for a second one. When she told us that it would take her a while to go get it, and if she could figure out how to install it, take care of All of the guests. Was it an experience? Yes was it a good experience no well I get over it. Yes well I ever stay here again or recommend that others do that would be a big resounding NO!

It was fine, very quiet and peaceful.

other then a lack of local dining options it was a great place to stay with my son, he loved the game room and playground. The front desk lady was very friendly and helpful.

The staff was very friendly. Nice gathering room, good food. Nice game room, and a fire pit to enjoy the evening outside. Rooms were comfortable.

If you are looking to "get away from it all," this is the place for you! I was, and I enjoyed staying there. The facility has seen better days, but it was and everything in the room worked. Also, because it is so remote, you need to either bring all of your own food, or be prepared to drive at least 15 or 20 minutes to find even one of 2 restaurants.

The resort is clean and spacious. Service was excellent, wonderful staff. Breakfast was very good.

Very good hotel

Off the beaten track and in tucked away in the woods of Maine - beautiful spot. My room was clean and I appreciated and used the small kitchenette. It was nothing fancy, though.

There is no restaurant or snack or any place to eat also the bbq was not working to cook food... I had to wait until breakfast. They do serve muffin and donut but no proper breakfast But the receptionnist was adorable and helpful she even walked me to my room to make sure i found it easily

Let me start that this appears to be an old ski lodge turned into an Inn. This is the place if you are looking for a quiet place, out in the woods, without AC (unless you pay $20/day for a portable AC unit that you stick the vent pipe outside through a hole in a plywood panel). The explanation (in writing) for the $20 charge was due to high electric rates. Perhaps they need to come up with a different excuse because even a conservative power calculation of this portable unit would be around $2.58 per day of electricity. Hotels.com showed this place was only 15 miles from Gorham,NH.. This may be true but we were not flying a helicopter. We were traveling by car and it was a 42 mile drive taking over an hour because of all the back roads. So the accuracy of the “distance from” calculations on Hotels.com site should not be believed. So, back to the facility… The staff member at check in was not very nice and dismissive. In her defense she was the only staff there and was cleaning rooms and checking in people. That is again due to the remoteness of this place. Condition of room was ok but very dated, washer/drier in the basement worked poorly. Game room was ok as was a central atrium. So, I personally would not stay here again or recommend it.

Ski Resort...room had a mini kitchen and murphy bed.

What a hidden gem! This place is definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the extra effort to reach it. This is Maine as it is meant to be experienced - serene, laid back, and surrounded by natural beauty. The staff, location, cleanliness, and surprises - like homemade Rice Krispie treats upon arrival - make this a can't be missed adventure!

The property is definitely off the beaten path, somewhat dated, yet in a slightly charming way. The room was ok, though everything felt damp all the time.

Great place tucked into the mountains. Pool tables, food ball, air hockey and really pet friendly.

If you use a wheelchair, crutches, or have moderate-severe mobility issues, then this place might not be a good fit for you. There are multiple sets of steps throughout the building, even going through the “first floor”, along with steps to enter the front of the building and to get to the second floor. There’s a door on the other end of the building that has a ramp, but you can’t park there other than to quickly load/unload your vehicle. The parking area is near the front of the building, so whether you walk through the building or walk along the path outside to get to the other door, it’s going to be a little bit of a trek to get to your room. There are AC units in some/most of the rooms, but it’s $20 a night to use them. Breakfast is not provided, although they do offer coffee and muffins in the front office area. With the closest towns being a 20-30 minute drive away, you’ll need to plan accordingly. There are small kitchens in the rooms that have basic supplies, which came in handy. It is also currently a dog friendly hotel, so expect lots of barking since most pet owners these days don’t teach their dogs basic obedience skills and manners. Other than those few items, which I mentioned only as a heads up to others so that there’s no last minute surprises, it was a pleasant stay. The bed was more comfortable than I expected and wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be to set up. Being in the woods and away from the crowds/traffic made it even better.

We had a fantastic stay at Evergreen inn it was very clean and quiet it was a wonderful pieceful place to stay. Thanks to Brook who was very helpful with all our needs.

This property is WAY off the beaten path, far from the nearest town and amenities. It is a wilderness area, the road had some serious pot holes the last mile or two. The staff were extremely friendly. The building is large and old. Our room had a very steep, tight spiral metal staircase to a loft bedroom. It worked for one night. There is a well equipped kitchenette and access to propane BBQ grill for $2 (I cooked a steak, worked great). The internet was very slow, at times didn't work at all. We had NO reception with our TMobile (no surprise there). We had a pleasant stay and would go back again. I'm sure there is some hiking in the area, but we didn't have time to check it out.

This is the third year I have stayed here I am very satisfied . I book here because it is reasonably priced and conveniently located to Fryeburg fair.

I loved the welcome feeling provided by Jay and Hope. Very nervous about lack of communication.. There is no way to reach the outside world in case of emergency. Along with no cell service, there are no land lines from the rooms. The rooms are vintage but charming. The circular staircase is not for everyone...beware if you are not steady on your feet. Loved that there was always hot coffee and a snack available. A small library with an interesting collection of books. Shower ran hot and cold depending on how many showers are in use at the same time I think. Felt the rooms were overpriced.

GREAT FRIENDLY SERVICE AND VERY HELPFUL. SOME WHAT VINTAGE BUT IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, AND PERFECT FOR I RELAXING COMFORTABLE TIME AWAY.

the people. working there make an older property great!! Is clean just a bit out dated bc of years but overall very good. A plus on staff's attitude & that is a big plus with me!!

In the woods

I absolutely loved our stay. It was just to lay our heads, but now I definitely want to spend an entire weekend. Great place to disconnect with simplicity. Not bougie just a great country place to stay in. Loved it!!! Can’t wait to go back!

place is a total dump should be shut down

This place has some definite building issues on the outside and the picture does not show them. The place needs a coat of paint, a door that has not been repaired with a piece of plywood, quite weathered so definitely not a new situation. Despite the high humidity the air in the room was not on when we arrived and so it took a while for the temperature to be comfortable. I had emailed ahead and asked if it was possible to check in early, check in time was not until 4 o'clock, definitely the latest I have ever experienced, and never received a reply. Check out was at 10am - definitely the earliest time, especially in a "vacation" area. I would say don't book here unless desperate and absolutely don't spend more than a night. Parking was also an issue.

THEY HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING. If you call and ask they’ll say they have units you can rent, but when you get there “they’re all rented out” even if you said you wanted one. I’ve never heard of a hotel without A/C, and the fact that they rent out A/C units it’s hilariously absurd. Then the fact that they’d let a family of 4 suffer in a room with no A/C after we specifically asked for one before making a reservation is just disrespectful.

As others have mentioned, the staff are super nice and the inn is clean and charming, but in serious need of some upgrades. Including, some rooms do not have AC! Recommend saving directions to the inn as there is poor to no cell reception for a few miles in this remote area.
