First time staying at the hotel and unfortunatley will be the last . The welcome wasn't very courtious, the room was absoluty teribble from the decoration condition of the plunmbing in the bathroom , had to plug kettle in on the floor, long hairs in the bed ( not mine wrong length and colour) very over priced for the room.

Room was very clean and cosy, the staff were super friendly and the breakfast was lovely!

Room was ok, but for the price I thought it was very basic as I had a single room and I have never slept in a single bed for 30+ years

Great location in a lovely pub. Room was spacious and clean. Landlady was very helpful and friendly. Was more than suitable for my visit to the town.

Owner cooked me poached eggs which came out well. Thank you. One improvement I did not mention to him. There are no bed side lights. Sufficient light came from hall under the door for me to see at night. But if that light was out would make the room difficult to navigate at night. Altogether I would stay again.

Room clean and freshly decorated, bathroom very good. Food good, manager very good. Steep stairs a bit of a climb for my 75 year old wife. Parking great and right by the Market Place center.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wellington Hotel. The room was recently refurbished, staff were very helpful and friendly. Cleanliness was of high standards. Breakfast was adequate and served promptly.

The hotel seemed run-down. My room was in need of cleaning and maintenance: it was meant to be a non-smoking room yet it reeked of cigarettes (there was even an old cigarette butt in the bin!), the TV remote didn't work, the bedside lamp didn't work, and there was no milk for the tea/coffee. The mattress was in need of replacing too. On the plus side: the linen and towels were clean, and the shower worked well (with ample hot water).

Hotel was ideally located for us to familiarise ourselves with the Howden area. Check in/out was quick and efficient. We were made to feel welcome. Would stay there again...

Our room though very small & lacking storage was newly decorated & clean. The hotel is obviously being updated & it is difficult wth such an old historic building. Important to check which floor your room is on, the stairs were a challenge. Breakfast was basic it would have been helpful to know what was on offer, however when eggs & bacon sandwich was requested it was beautifully cooked. Howden is a lovely place & the Wellington with improvements will be a great place to stay. We enjoyed our stay, good value considering everything.

Our room was very old, whole building smells of smoke, dust every where, dead flies on the window sills, dirty toilet seat on arrival and small flies stuck on the ‘fresh’ towels that they provided. Not clean at all. Best thing was the multiple parking spaces available.

friendly and welcoming, bit laid back. food is good, well cooked I had steak and it was presented well and correct cooking, quirky building not suited if you have mobility problems, the stairs are steep well carpeted typical for a building of its age

Our room was hot, and the controls for the heater were missing,The welcome notice had no information about the shower, which we abandoned due to lack of information. the wash basin had a good supply of hot water. The curtains in our room were poorly hung and had to be re-hung by us.
