Cosy period house near the beaches in the heart of Teignmouth
La Corner House est une maison mitoyenne d'époque, située au cœur de Teignmouth, à quelques minutes de la plage principale en bord de mer et de la belle plage arrière face à l'estuaire. En plus de son emplacement privilégié, la maison est bien aménagée avec une cuisine et une salle de bains contemporaines, une buanderie, deux téléviseurs et un lecteur DVD. Le haut débit Wi-Fi sera installé ce printemps et sera disponible à partir de mars. La maison se compose d'un salon, d'une salle à manger, d'une cuisine, d'une buanderie et à l'étage se trouve une chambre double lumineuse et spacieuse, une chambre avec lits superposés et une chambre mansardée (escalier plus raide) avec lits jumeaux. Au premier étage, il y a aussi une salle de bain contemporaine avec WC, baignoire et douche, et un WC séparé supplémentaire.
Situé dans le petit centre-ville convivial, vous avez une multitude de magasins, cafés et bistrots à votre porte. Avec sa jetée victorienne, son lido, son parc de jeux, son golf fou et son skate park à portée de main, Teignmouth est une destination de vacances idéale pour les familles. La plage arrière face au port et à l'estuaire est également particulièrement agréable où vous pouvez regarder les bateaux passer, ramasser des sandwiches au crabe fraîchement préparés et déguster une pinte au Ship Inn sur la plage. Le ferry pour le joli village de Shaldon en face fait des traversées régulières depuis la plage arrière.
Pour ceux qui aiment passer une journée active, Dartmoor est à 20 minutes en voiture, avec ses magnifiques tors et une excellente marche, et il y a beaucoup d'autres paysages préservés dans les environs de la ville à explorer.

The house was very pretty and had everything you would need for a holiday home. The only thing was the out house where the washing machine and dryer were kept. There was a lot of dampness on the ceiling and walls and it looked in danger of the roof falling in. This did nothing to ruin our holiday but meant 4 stars instead of 5 for cleanliness. If this was fixed the house would be perfect.

This charming house has everything you could possibly need for a stay in this beautiful seaside town. It's 2 minutes walk from the town beach ( you can actually see the sea from the main bedroom window). Only 5 minutes from the fabulous Back Beach and it's amazing sunsets. The house is fully equipped and is really a home from home. The host left a welcome basket with essentials, milk and butter and all the properties for a delicious clotted cream tea. Everything has been thought of, even beach towels, cupboards full of games, books, dvds. Thank you for letting us stay in your house, we loved it.

Great holiday
We’ve had an amazing week at corner house. Henrietta was so helpful and the house had everything we needed including a yummy cream tea on arrival. Location was perfect for exploring , Teignmouth beach and waves, Dartmoor / Hound Tor, Paignton beach and Paignton zoo were just some of our best highlights.
The shower at corner house was amazing, and we all enjoyed a game or two off chess.

Much larger house than expected! We'd walked past on a previous trip. Such a great position and everything you might need for a lovely holiday. Highly recommend.

The Corner House is ideally located for both the seafront and shops, only a 2 minute walk! We stayed at Christmas to visit family and found it warm and cozy. Plenty of hot water from an over bath shower.
Henrietta, the owner, is the best! Very friendly, helpful and responsive. She had decorated the house with a Christmas tree, lights and decorations which made it home from home. The hamper with clotted cream, scones and jam, milk, butter, beer, lemonade etc were very much appreciated. Will definitely return!

Perfect family vacation house

Fabulous

Perfectly located
We had a fantastic stay at the Corner House, which is perfectly located for the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants. Teignmouth is beautiful, friendly village. The house was spotless with plenty of space for the 4 of us. It’s almost in the centre of Teignmouth, so you’re only a 1 min walk from the beach and no more than 5 minutes from any bar or restaurant.

This is our second time staying at the Corner House and it was just as good as the first time. The location is excellent and the home has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Henrietta was available if and when we needed her. Can’t recommend the property enough.

Lovely stay, in a lovely house , much nicer than in pictures.! warm and cosy, comfy beds, great shower..location is close to everything..shops,cafes,play park, theatre...near to train station,..could almost leave the car behind...great places to visit all in under an hour or less....Brilliant! Owner was helpful ,when we had trouble with key box..

Easy and relaxing
This house is thoughtfully furnished with quality furniture. The beds were comfortable -- not too firm and not too soft. The sofas had high backs and weren't slippery leather. There were a variety of chairs and cushions, so we could sit in what suited us. There were many lights to choose from -- some for reading and some for soft lighting.
The kitchen and bathroom were modern and well equipped. The TVs were new. There is a selection of books, DVDs, and games especially for children.
The hostess went out of her way to cater for my perfume intolerances which made it possible for us to stay, and we are very grateful.
In the main shopping area is a wide variety of health food shops, fruit and veg shops, butchers, convenience store, and a Co-op. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and takeways (and I didn't have a problem finding ones that would cook off-menu for my food intolerances.) The Yarde Farm ice cream (Devon made with clotted cream) is exceptionally good and widely sold.
There is plenty of browsing opportunities in the independent shops and art galleries, too, and a choice of churches. We also enjoyed the local museum and its walking tour, and the Sunday steam train hustling through!
The beaches have some pebbles and seaweed strands, and the sand isn't the best for sand castles, but many people were enjoying the sand and the swimming with mild breaking waves. We took the beach chairs to the water's edge, just to sit and listen to the sea, and watch the ships.
All is within a 10 minute flat walk from the house. For longer flat walks there is the prom at Teignmouth itself, or from Dawlish station to Dawlish Warren station. There is a hilly coastal path/bike trail over much of this area also for peaceful countryside/woodland walks but there aren't views from these elevated areas.
The children's fenced play area and skateboard area were well used. The Jurassic Park themed mini-golf which is a fun challenge for all ages. You might want to check for special events in the area as there is usually something on.
We thank God that we found this lovely holiday place and Henrietta's warm welcome.

brilliant summer vacation
Very well equipt accomadation. Only very few things were missing: Tea pot and small sharp-edged kitchen knife. The children loved their seperate rooms, especially the one in the top was favored. And the DVDs in the evening were helpful to improve our English.
The near beaches allowed us to go swimming every day.
Travelling without a car, the close station was wonderfull with frequent connections in both directions.
It is a very quiet cosy place to stay only during the funfair on the nearby field, we heard the music from over there.

An absolute gem!
We absolutely loved our stay at The corner House. My kids loved the "secret bedroom" at the top of the house. The bunk bedroom on the same level as the master was also handy for middle of the night bed hopping fun!
The kitchen is well equipped (loved the pod coffee machine) and off the kitchen there is a sweet patio area where you can sit with a morning coffee. The laundry room is off the patio so you can wash and dry all those sandy beach towels (provided) after a day at the beach (just a two minute walk from the property).
The bath room is lovely with a fab deep bath and power shower...all the hot water you could need to wash the sea breeze away....there is an extra WC too which is handy for a family.
The living room has ample room with the two large couches. T.V.'s are situated in the living room and master (with the option to move from the master if required).
I particularly enjoyed the nice clear instructions as to where to find everything in the house and what to do in Teignmouth and beyond...very helpful!
Henrietta was truly at our service during our stay, she organized car parking passes for us, found a bathroom scale for me so I could keep on the straight and narrow with my diet (lost 5 pounds...yippee) and she came round to put the heating on prior to our arrival which was so very attentive. Thanks Henrietta!
The welcome basket was such a lovely touch. I enjoyed some of the clotted cream on my strawberries and the rest of the family eagerly enjoyed the scones and homemade jam cream teas.
I cannot wait to come back to this lovely home (it really does feel like your own home while you are there) as it is so close to all the lovely shops, pubs, cafe's that Teignmouth has to offer. With such a lovely contact as Henrietta, you cannot go wrong with choosing The Corner House as your next holiday home .

Great cottage in a fantastic location. Comfortable house that catered to all our needs.
Did not use our car during our stay - car parking straightforward with a weekly permit and nearby 48 hour car parks meant we weren't moving the car every day.
Lots to do in the area, beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.

Excellent family holiday!
What a lovely place, we had such a wonderful holiday. The location is perfect especially if you have little ones and don't want to be walking far to the attractions, town or beach. The house is beautiful, tastefully decorated and has everything you could ask for, we weren't expecting free wi-fi so that was a nice surprise. Lots to see and do in and around the area. Henrietta was lovely and the welcome basket with the cream teas went down very well! We would definitely stay here again, was so sad to be going home... :(

Clean, cosy, well equipped home close to everything you need
From my first contact with the owner, I found her to be very informative and helpful. The property had all the equipment that you could need and we were greeted with a welcome pack.
The house being so very close to the beach was ideal and the children made full use of the village green for playing frisbee. The location meant that the tennis courts, crazy golf and ice cream were all less than a minute walk away and then of course, the beach was just as close.
A lovely family break in a very suitable home. Thank you Henrietta.

The accommodation was very nice, a real home from home and the owner could not have been more helpful . It is situated in the heart of everything. A very short stroll from the shops and the beach. Could not be better situated, would strongly recommended a stay here.

Well equipped well located a stones throw from everything .Would recommend it for a family of 4 as well. Brilliant welcome pack scones and cream and jam with full instructions as to the correct Devon way.
If you are a walker it's a few hundred m from S West coastal and if you're a train spotter even better where else can you stroll the sea front and see a hi speeder you can nearly touch .Awesome

Lovely house- amazing location!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Corner House. The location was ideal in order to really experience what the area has to offer. Our daughter loved the Shaldon ferry and the Ness Cove beach. Henrietta has been so helpful from start to finish and we very much appreciated the welcome basket after our journey. We would love to visit again soon. Thank you!

A hidden gem close to everything
We stayed over the Easter school holidays with 4 adults and 2 children (4yo & 18mths). The position of the Corner House was great as beaches and town so close and parking was no hassle as a permit was conveniently sorted for us. Bedrooms were spacious, kitchen well equipped and lounge very cosy. We loved the thoughtful cream tea that awaited us and the owners were fantastic at communication - emails were responded to quickly and the guide book inside the house was detailed. Having small children, we especially loved the plastic cutlery, the games/books in the cupboard and bunk beds (plenty of room for our travel cot in any of the 3 rooms) and the use of a washing machine. Towels were plentiful and the house was immaculately cleaned too. To further equip for families a highchair would be a nice added bonus to save packing our own - that's our only thought for the future. Would highly recommend to others and would use again if returning to the area.

A hidden gem!!
Perfect holiday home, in a lovely location. The house was very spacious yet cosy and everything you would want, home from home. Very clean, comfy beds, ample towels, as well as a lovely powerful shower, which you don't always get!! Although very central it was very peaceful with many things to do/visit on your doorstep. Lovely walks along the beach, ferry to Shaldon or venture a little further by car to Torquay (30 mins), where we took the ferry across to Brixham. Many thanks to Henrietta for the quick responses when booking and answers to our enquries, also tips on where to eat and the nice welcome basket, enjoyed by all!! Brilliant location! Beach is 2 minutes away. House is very clean and comfortable.
Excellent for all ages. Nearby Shaldon is a lovely town with a great Ness Cove beach which is accessible through smugglers tunnel. Children loved the adventurous feel to it! Make sure to have a picnic on the green just before the tunnel.
The Owners of the Corner house are extremely helpful and welcomed us with yummy cream tea with all the trimmings! Would definitely go back!
