I cancelled more than 24 hours in advance due to a flight delay and was advised that the refund would be processed through expedia. When Expedia contacted the hotel to process the refund, it was denied. That is a dishonest practice to refuse to refund a cancellation.

The room was just Ok. The Air Conditioning was controlled by the front desk. A little cool during the day and at night had to sleep without any bed covering. The room should have been much cooler for the price. The mini bar was not very cold at all.Was told it is just a Mini bar not meant for food just drinks. Well I have been in many hotels and all mini bars have been cold to very cold. Next time will stay in the 4 Star next to the Aquarium in town. Tried to stay next to the Aquarium but was all booked for the 5 nights that I needed to stay.

The pool is small for the number of guest rooms. One of the bedside lights in the room was not working and the air conditioning was poor. The restaurant menu is very basic. My wife had gnocchi, which I am guessing was not prepared onsite. It was clearly reheated quickly and at too high a temperature, which meant that the gnocchi was burnt but the cheese had not managed to melt into the sauce. The waitress was curt towards us throughout our dinner. This was not because we complained (we didn´t) or because we were not polite and friendly (we were). She did not pour our wine (she did on other tables), we had to ask for condiments (usually offered with fries) which were then banged down. I was served different fries to other guests that were also having Moules frites. Mine appeared to be from the menu enfant, as they were the same as the ones served to our child. The fries were cold. All in all it did not feel like a restaurant experience, more like a cheap pub serving reheated food by rude staff. The rooms start at 210 euros per night, so we were expecting more. Overall experience from experienced family traveler = Mediocre.

I was part of a large rugby group the hotel was excellent and we were really well looked after apart from the waitress at breakfast who was quite abrupt,rude and unhelpful.

Great hotel in a good position. We had out dog with us so the walk through the park was wonderful. Efficient and friendly staff. Lovely room with comfortable bed. Good breakfast choice.

Good location, great amenities, good pool (although slightly cold), staff were wonderful, breakfast is worth while and added bonus on the pin ball machine and table football!!! Over all great stay!

This is in no way a 4-star hotel. Room was extremely basic and dated, ive stayed at nicer premier inns. We booked a room for two adults and one child. When we arrived at our room we saw it had a sofa but it hasnt been made into a bed for our son. When we called the reception, after much explaining, we were told we just had to make it as the bed was made "inside". You'd think that in a 4-star hotel someone would be sent to the room immediately to sort it out. We managed to figure it out ourselves after it became clear they had no intention of helping us. I dont even want to know how long that bed had been made in the way and how many people sat on it with "inside" sheets not changing. The bathroom was a joke with no toiletries apart from budget hotel style soap dispenser in shower. Toilet was a separate tiny cubicle, ive never seen anything like it and cannot fathom how this can earn four stars. Staff spoke almost no English which I guess its fine but it didnt stop them giggling about our lack of french behind our backs- I speak five languages, French just isnt one of them so I dont appreciate it. When we arrived at the hotel restaurant and sat down a huffy waiter came to tell us we shouldnt have sat down without asking him. Im sorry but for a hotel with supposedly four stars and at the price we paid this is not acceptable. The food tasted nice though so there is that.

Central location, parking, friendly staff, nice bar & tasty food. All in all a pleasant visit. Have stayed here before & will again.

Really good hotel in a fantastic location, set in the middle of parkland, and really close to the beautiful centre of La Rochelle. Lovely breakfast too!

We love this hotel. We’ve stayed a few times and will always go back. It’s a great hotel in a great location in the city. La Rochelle is super seaside city.

The staff were brilliant. I was well informed of travel and traffic. They accommodated our family of four. The room was small but very clean and perfect. The hotel was in the centre of a park so there was plenty of run around space for the kids. There was an animal park in there also which the kids like a lot. Very close to the beach front and eateries at the port. The only problem was we were only staying one night as a stop over.

We had an enjoyable stay. This hotel is slightly out of the old town which means it is quieter but still only a short walk from everything. The rooms are newly renovated but a little odd in that the bathroom has frosted doors meaning light comes into the room when used at night. No basin in small separate toilet is not to my liking. Buffet breakfast was good but it was not clear how to order the “city” basic breakfast and staff at breakfast were a little confused. Overall very good for a family hotel.

Staff very friendly and helpful even tho our French language was very poor. Hotel very clean from reception to our room. Bed linen and towels fresh and clean. Mini fridge to keep our water etc. Air conditioning in bedroom which helped on very hot nights. Swimming pool was great. Ten minute to port/beach. Fifteen minutes to town centre. Good shops and excellent array of restaurants.

Nice hotel clean as it was done everyday. It’s close to the town centre about 10-15 minute walk which wasn’t bad. The hotel staff are very helpful, they gave a map of the area and pointed out where the restaurants were.

Small rooms for a family of 4, feel a bit claustrophobic.

Smaller than other Novotel rooms I have known. Easy 5 minutes to town centre and harbour. Decent restaurant and breakfast.

Perfect location, not far from the airport, free parking and walking distance to restaurants and sights. Very friendly staff, and very family friendly hotel (pool, playroom, kids menu etc.) Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, would def use this hotel again.

Stayed here twice before. Parking us great and the location us about 10 min walk from the centre of town. August prices a touch high but are not all French hotels?

A great hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Ten minutes walk from the small beach. Fifteen minutes stroll from the town and the quayside with all of the restaurants and bars. The hotel pool is small but great for kids and plenty of tables in the shade. Food was good and breakfast all that you would expect. An excellent centre for visiting the area, a good stop over on a longer journey and only a twenty minute drive from the hotel
