Our room had everything you might need. It was warm, although the radiator didn’t seem to be on! The swimming pool was excellent.

If you are looking for rest, avoid this hotel on the weekends. The hotel hosts weddings and parties, and I was kept up all night because of the loud music and shouting from those smoking in the parking lot outside my window. Then, when the celebrations ended, the couple staying next to my room came back at 2:30 a.m. and continued their partying and music. Given that the room had thin connecting doors, I felt like I was in the same room. At one point, I could even hear the guy fart. This didn't end well because they got into a big argument and started yelling at each other, which lasted until 7:00 a.m. when she finally walked out of the room. I could not wait to get out of there!

Friendly staff and nice breakfast. Room needs an update. Carpet is well worn and room was a bit musty. Other than that a nice stay and great location

Absolutely beautiful hotel and stunning city. Walking distance to most shops and activities!

It was fabulous. Very. Close to the castle and a good walk into the town.
Staff were excellent most especially the wait staff in the restaurant.
Some great restaurants within walking distance.
And so beautiful in the snow!

It was a lovely stay, the hotel is a fabulous old school building, though I would of liked to if explored the library (locked)
My only complaint is, it does need updating a bit. Had a double room, really clean, fresh bedding, towels, but just needs updating/modernising.
Staff were fab, great help, breakfast each morning was lovely & a good range of hours. Will be returning

The hotel was perfectly situated in the middle of Stirling with parking included and the staff were friendly. The old building was impressive but the general decor and the rooms and bathrooms were tired. Small touches such as better toiletries, some comfort kits, robes etc would go some way to improving the bathroom and better lighting would brighten up the dark rooms. The spa was disappointing but it wasn't a key driver in our decision to stay here so not a big deal - I would advise against booking if the spa facilities are important to you. Breakfast was really good and plentiful but would benefit from having fresh coffee available rather than from a machine.

Nice friendly reception and check in. Rooms were dated and smelled musty but overall quite clean. Room service food was terrible, even the fries weren't cooked properly, no sauces or butter brought and server was visibly annoyed when I asked for them. Asked to sit by the fire at breakfast told i had to go into the other room where my view was a tray of dirty plates etc. Overall disappointed, especially with the price of the food and the standard.

Very easy to find, secure parking inside hotel grounds, interesting building (ex school), gym and fitness centre, very nice rooms and friendly helpful staff.
Avoid restaurant, Scholars, for dinner, many places close to hotel.

Disappointed when checking out to discover I had been charged for a meal my daughter and I never had!
Receptionist apologised and hopefully the amount has now been recredited to my account.
Communication prior to arrival was poor - I advised I would like to bring along my dog, but did not hear this had been agreed even despite calling to check before arrival. My call was never returned. However, on arrival, this had been arranged and all was OK.

Good location. Nice hotel. Peaceful relaxing break. Close to everything unless you can't do hills. Plenty stops on the way up for breaks though.

Lovely clean hotel with a great pool & our Grandson loved going in the observatory & want to know when we will be going again.

My first time back at The Stirling Highland Hotel in about 12 years and my first solo trip. This was also my first time staying overnight with my dog and I was met with nothing but friendliness by all the staff I encountered. Once I checked into my room I was met with a dog bed, food and water bowls, along with a packet of treats for my dog (which he loved!!)
My first morning at breakfast, the staff member that was stood welcoming guests directed me over to the part of the lounge that is dog friendly and also very kindly offered to wait with my dog whilst I went to get my breakfast from the buffet.
Throughout my stay I felt very looked after and welcomed. Staff both in passing and delivering room service were kind enough to stop and make a fuss of my dog (which he loved!) He was very much a looked after guest himself.
I will definitely be staying at The Stirling Highland Hotel with my dog again and would 100% recommend it to other dog owners.

We had a lovely stay at the Stirling Highland hotel! It was an easy walk to the sights we wanted to see and very conveniently located to many shops and restaurants, as well as pubs! The rooms we had were very neat and tidy and the courtyard of the hotel was beautiful. The hotel also offered a delicious breakfast which we greatly enjoyed. We had a wonderful time!

Great location , decor was dated and lacked atmosphere bathroom could do with a major upgrade

Beautiful historic building located withing walking distance from shops, restaurants, and castle. We had a guest with a mobility scooter and he was able to access all the sights from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nice. Convenient parking onsite.

Radiator in room not working, hotel full so couldn’t change room. Window also didn’t fully close so draughty. Contacted receptionist, and after maintenance man couldn’t fix radiator was given a portable electric heater which helped. Room was also a little shabby with chopped pain on radiator and wallpaper around it a little loose. Paint work on stairs also needed some attention. Not as nice for a 4 star property as it used to be. However, breakfast and leisure facilities excellent. Parking and location also good.

This hotel is an absolute embarrassment for Scotland!
It’s dirty, has not been maintained since the 70s, its got mold, dust and dirt - which is tried disguised with large amounts of air fresheners. The reception area is ok - but the rooms are absolutely disgusting!
If it had two stars, I would have to accept it, - three stars I would be greatly disappointed! That this hotel has four stars is beyond belief and an absolute disgrace.
The decor and carpets of the room dates back to the 70s at best, - and has never been properly cleaned since. The overall decor of the room is terrible, cheap, old and dirty. The same goes for the bathrooms. - I can write bathrooms in plural as we had to change room, when the ceiling in our first bathroom started to leak water! This happened just after we had gone to bed, and we heard water dripping from the bathroom ceiling. We walked to the reception to notify them, ( - the 70s telephone in the room was not working … ) Upon notifying about the water leak, we were put in an identically terrible room. The staff did not apologise but made us be thankful for the fact that they provided us with a new room…
It was quite obvious to see that there had been repeated water damage in the ceiling, so I guess this is normal procedure for the staff.
Don’t make the mistake of booking here !
The experience of this terrible hotel ruined the end of an otherwise brilliant vacation to Scotland, do not let it ruin yours !

This hotel needs upgrades. The tub faucet had rust around it, the sheets were yellowed, the door jam had been gouged and not repaired, only painted over. Went down for the breakfast buffet stay 9am, all the fried eggs were gone and the rest was barely lukewarm.

The hotel is in an excellent location to see Stirling Castle and it is walkable to the city center for multiple dining options. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very complete with multiple options and was tasty.
The building itself is very old - which is fine, I have no problem with historic buildings. It’s more that the furnishings, etc are worn and outdated. We had “family room” with 1 queen and a set of bunk beds. The sheet on the bunkbed did not stay in place so I had a horrible night’s sleep fighting with it all night. Also, the bunk above had a black tarp between the bottom of the mattress and the frame. This seemed concerning - what are they trying to prevent from leaking through the top bunk?? It was strange. The room was incredibly hot in early Sept. There was no AC - only windows, which should be fine in Sept but they had cords on them that only allowed them to be opened a few inches. It did little to cool the room off. This would be a really nice hotel if they did some upgrades to the interior. Overall an awful value for the money spent. Disappointing.

Very nice hotel. Staff friendly. Rooms were clean. Only thing I would say could be upgraded would be charging outlets near bed. We enjoyed our stay.
1.5
The hotel is in a good location but it needs some updating. The bar area and restaurant are small with limited options/menu. Check in staff didn't provide any information and we had to figure out where things were on our own. Our beds had old mattresses on the floor under our bed.

A lacklustre 4 star which is now probably a 3 - fine for what it was but I suspect it has seen better days
2.0
The hotel staff was wonderful and friendly, good breakfast buffet and decent restaurant for dinner, simple but fair in price.
The room we got though was terrible, very run down, shower liking the whole 2 days we were there, even when we alerted the reception and they came to repair it they couldn’t. We were facing the parking lot, at the same level, couldn’t open the windows, it was noisy. We ask to change to another room on an upper level, specially because we had a baby… and they told us it was not possible. So we didn’t sleep the whole 2 nights we stayed. It was a shame, we were very much looking forward staying at this hotel. It was not worth it.
