Stay was good but asked multiple times for an emailed invoice with no reply

Amazing stay. Could be more attention to minor details (better sealent in bathroom, dirty marks on the curtains and dust on top of mirrors) apart from that very clean. Great view from the balcony. Restaurant staff were brilliant they couldnt do enough for us and the food was amazing. Used the gym both mornings and its a great gym with all the equipment you would need

We had a fantastic time during our stay. The staffs were helpful and friendly. Great facilities and amenities. Stunning views!

Looking at recent reviews I agree this hotel has sadly gone downhill. Unfriendly receptionist. No smile on arrival. I felt most unwelcome. She asked for my credit card to put on account. I said I wouldn’t be having any room service. She said it was just in case there was any damage. I’ve never had this when I’ve checked in any hotel before! I’d also like to point out that I’ve never caused and damage in any hotel in my life! Tired looking corridors with stained carpet throughout. First room, had an empty bottle of wine and half a glass of wine on side. Not sure if this room had been cleaned before I went in. I went back to reception and spoke to another (far more friendly lady) who put me in another room. This room needed a good look at! The toilet hadn’t been flushed! Broken window handle, filthy bathroom grouting, and the corners of the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. See photos. I had to call reception while in my room but they couldn’t hear me. Phone obviously broken. So had to call them from my phone. Not really a problem but slightly annoying.
If I were you, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor as there is no phone reception. Also there was a slight damp smell too. They have put a plug in air freshener in the room but it didn’t really make any difference. The view from the window is a load of leaves, a path, and mud. There is WiFi but it isn’t the best. Stayed here before & all good, but certainly won’t be hurrying back!

For a place that claims to be a top 100 golf course, you’d expect the hotel rooms to match that standard—but unfortunately, they fall far short. The room I stayed in was the most outdated and uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced, feeling more like a budget stay than a premium one. I’ve had better nights at Premier Inns, which are far more modern and comfortable.
It’s surprising that while many hotels took the opportunity during Covid to update their rooms, St Mellion’s rooms have been left behind. It’s difficult to imagine staying here again because of this.
That said, the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean, and it’s clear they’ve invested in the gym and spa, which were great. But the rooms desperately need attention.

It was great as usual, however I was disappointed the steam room was out of order.

Two night stay whilst in business

I was moved from the room I originally booked online and the room I was given was tired and some of the the tiles on the floor looked as though they mould a new bath was needed as it was very creaky and there was something on a tile that I didn’t want to touch as it looked as though it had come out of someone’s nose , which is very unlike this hotel as when I have stayed in the past I have been very happy with my room . Hope it’s a blip .

A quick overnight for a visit to Crocadon.

A very clean modern hotel on a golf resort. Nice pool facilities. The hotel felt very bland with no character.

This hotel has gone downhill since our lasr visit in 2021.
Reception for checking in was very slow, 2 receptionists on phones, not speaking, ignored us for 9 minutes.
There was no dinner menu on display, even on asking in the restaurant.
At breakfast it was good that the plates were hot as the food was lukewarm. Also when a dish ran out, we had to ask for it to be refilled. A large cereal selection but no sign of the nations favourite cereal, Weetabix, but 16 packets of CocoPops, none of which were eaten by any customer during our stay.
Carpets in room had damaged areas. Also there was a considerable noise level coming through the adjoining door mainly from squeaky floorboards.

Stayed for work , good facilities, friendly stafff ,will definitely stay again

Beautiful hotel grounds, but lacking in parking. Amazing if you're massively into golf, we went more for the spa side, which was ok but nothing to write home about. Room was clean enough, could do with a little more attention to the nitty gritty areas within the room and regular cleaning throughout the day when golfers return. Unfortunately the hotel was nothing special, could have got exactly the same in a premier inn for alot less. Dining options were limited, especially for breakfast. Not a bad hotel, but certainly not the 4 stars we were expecting.
4.2
The structure of the hotel building is very tired. Green mildew on most exterior surfaces.
Carpeting throughout looks very worn and underlying structure of corridors creak and groan when walked over.
Condition of bedrooms good, but balconies suffer mildew problems.
4.2
The room was far from clean - and the reception staff weren't in the least bit interested in getting this resolved. Broken appliances in the room. A beautiful location with what is, in effect, a substandard Travelodge dumped in the middle. Out of date rooms desperately in need of a deep clean and refurb, a horrible breakfast (powdered scrambled eggs and a pathetic fruit offering)
Adequate for a group of golfers who will sleep anywhere after a few beers. Not good enough for anyone else!
Pool was fine. Sauna was hot. Steam room was not. I won't stay there again.
4.2
Room very nice but TV very old and dated.
4.2
Room had not even been hoovered before our stay tried to run a bath but water wasn’t even warm let alone hot
4.2
Hotel room was nice, as was the food. Service was a bit dull, not much of a friendly greeting other than the receptionist and spa lady, other than that, nice stay
4.2
Very spacious so pleasant to be able to choose whether to join in the hububb or find a quiet & peaceful path - good choice of activities
4.2
The reception staff were really friendly and helpful and did their best to allow us to check in earlier even though it might not have been possible.
The bar and dining staff were also fabulous and friendly, everyone did their upmost to be accommodating.
We had 3 evening main meals, we were a little disappointed with one meal but that’s perhaps because of the standard of the others. The steak was cooked to perfection, super salad was soo tasty.
Breakfast was excellent, you could help yourself to whatever you wanted from the buffet style self service breakfast, have as much as you want and order poached/fried eggs cooked fresh and served to your table and once again the service was spot on.
We struggled to park at first, there is no guaranteed parking for hotel residents.
The bed was super comfy and the room was large and clean with blackout curtains.
If you stay here the spa / pool is also highly recommended and available to use while you wait to check in if you arrive early with large changing rooms, plenty of showers and also hair straighteners.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay even though we are not golfers.

Carpets need changing in hotel room corridors.
4.2
Superirior room was on par with a usual king bed and a balcony but no fridge and just enough room to walk around the bed but hardly superior compared to some cheaper smaller establishments

Currently we stay in this hotel room number 310 on Suite, yesterday we arrive and just open the bathroom already was missing toilet paper and fridge ( I claim on reception already but them ignored my attempts) ,this is ridiculous to pay lots of money for best service which one doesn’t provided, on dinner the waitress was ask for payment and option to pay,so we choice pay after doing check out,but not …? the girl from reception was chasing us on the hall to pay directly we feel so discriminated because with manners how she talking to us was unpleasant and despised ( the stuff very racists ) and breakfast is completely disappointing how was bad but very bad ( eggs from powder etc. ) and not so many products to choice very poor. I didn’t recommend this hotel to anyone because from my experience staying so many hotels I’m not give even 3 stars for that one unfortunately, very disappointed and sad place…

Quiet and relaxing stay.

Room was old and tired. Grout on bathroom floor was falling apart. TV was tiny with no reception. Carpets were dirty. Food in the bar was terrible. Would not stay here again. Bed was comfy.
4.2
This was a hotel in a huge golf course. Very nice place to stay in the quiet.

Great staff, facilities and food

Value for money, did not play golf this time but lovely stay anyway. Not far for business trip the next day in Plymouth.

Good
4.2
The only issue we had was no automated doors in corridors by disabled rooms so the wheelchair user would have difficulties if alone
4.2
Spacious sized room, hotel was clean and staff were friendly
4.2
Tired and shabby - creaking floorboards that don't allow a lie in as people leave for golf in the early hours, or come back from the bar - full English breakfast items cold 3/3 mornings (at 0830) - king size beds are just 2 singles pushed together - Restaurant closed 1/3 nights - food in Brasserie 35 mins to arrive from ordering (and between courses) when roughly 10 people there. Overall not acceptable for a 4 star!
4.2
We loved the stay the staff where very kind although the room could of had a clean as bathroom was not the cleanest but the food 5 star
