Inchecking was to long. Only 1. Person working. Bad place to put a hotel! Didn’t feel safe

I arrived late at night (11pm) with my family. We were notified that car park is payable extra even though there was no such information in the description. I was ok with paying extra for the breakfast but again, I was overcharged, all in all original payment was €113 but in the end I paid €159. Breakfast was supposed to be €24 for one adult and two children, parking was supposed to be €14. It was late and I was with two children so I couldn’t get to the bottom of it and left it but I wouldn’t stay there again. Rooms spacious and enough beds. Carpet worn out throughout - loads of signs of wear and tear. Breakfast incl coffee not great, would be better to go to local cafe.

Good location - close to the city centre and Dortmund Hbf train station. No A/C in the room - it was very hot in the room.

Room were nice and clean, staffs were very friendly and helpful. It's bang in the city centre everything is walkable, mall, food and shopping area, train station few steps away. The negative experienced was that a beggar just walk through the door without anyone apprehending her as main door entrance is wide open always. We caught out the beggar on the 2nd floor where our room was, trying on some doors. We immediately reported it to the staff. She was found and sent her way out. Which the staff has told my husband she's been doing it the last 2 years but police won't do anything. I fairness the hotel does have secured doors, but she seems knew when to come as she sneak in around checking time when the counter is busy with visitors. The only reason we knew she was a beggar as we saw her earlier begging by the entrance. Our overall experienced was great. We had a great time and definitely will book this hotel again in the future.

What an amazing hotel. It is beautiful inside and out. Great customer service. Wonderfully large rooms and spacious bathrooms. Good range of hanging space. Would highly recommend you book at this hotel.

Was in a good location and the staff were helpful. Rooms were a bit outdated and the rooms were very hot, along with all 6 pillows in the room being poor. Overall a good experience and decent quality place for the price.

Booked this property due to its proximity to Dortmund HBF. Great hotel for our needs, could benfit with air conditioning in the bedrooms, however i belive a refit is being undertaken. Massive bedroom, clean bathroom and excellent breakfast. Dortmund city centre is quite litrally across the road, so a great location for exploring the centre. This hotel is located on a very busy intersection (inner ring road) so please be aware when booking. Also 30 minute walk away from the Dortmund stadium!

Hotel staff were really nice, only issue i had was that on one of the rounds of housekeeping i was given a brown stained blanket 😨

Very grand hotel, if perhaps a little tired in places. Close to the station, so great from transport perspective.

Generally a nice hotel with good staff. Its location is superb with great restaurants and the town centre so close . Only minor problem was they have irons with no ironing boards .

The premises were all messy and dirty

Room was delayed and they moved to other room for night and complimentary breakfast to apologise. So was all fine. Room, location, food and staff were all excellent. Lower score as didn’t tell us about working going on at hotel so early morning and late banging which did disrupt sleep and some of the comfort for the trip.

Great hotel, great location

Nice reception area and good location. Room very basic and bed extremely uncomfortable. Suggest the hotel spend less on marble in the reception and more on mattresses.

Very disappointed with this hotel , mold in the shower, dirty bed sheets, musty smell from the carpet . We only stayed the first night had no choice, they refused to refund the money for the next three nights, we are filing a refund request with Expedia

terrible rooms and construction within the hotel during euro2024!!! Unacceptable You cant even get a coffee at the lobby bar

部屋は広く、清潔で少し過ごしやすかった。 ただ、タオルの交換がない日があり、その点は少し残念だった。Rooms were spacious, clean and a little more comfortable. However, there were days when the towels were not changed, which was a little disappointing.

There was no parking available. I book this place as a stop on my journey from Englad to Poland. Unfortunately there was no oarking at the hotel. I had to continue my journey without a break becauce i hadn't no other hotels check-in available ( after 10pm). The nearest secured parking were closed or full. Additionally i must notice that the picture of the hotel attached to the advertisement on your site suggests that this building is located in open area ( probably neighbouring object had been erased from the view for better effect. What more, there was problem to park a car in front of entrance, very little space there and i needed do drive across crowdy pavement. I paid for reservation online but when i arrived i was required 100 euro deposit in cash with no ealier notice. Taking u derconsideration the fact that it is 4 star hotel my opinion is negative, no recommendation will be done.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you not only as a recent guest of Hotel Excelsior but also as a concerned patron whose trust in your establishment has been deeply shaken. We stayed at the Hotel Excelsior in Lange Straße 1, Dortmund, NW, 44137, for 2 nights on 8-9 May, in room number E304. On the first day of our reservation(8 may), there were no problems other than the noise, the messy hallway view in the hotel hool and the parking problem we learned later. However, the night from May 9th to May 10th, my family and I were subjected to a distressing incident in our assigned room (E304). At approximately 1 AM, we were abruptly awakened by the sound of our room door being opened by an unknown individual. This intrusion was not only unauthorized but also posed a direct threat to our safety and privacy. The situation was only diffused when I confronted the intruder, causing them to retreat. However, the damage was done; my wife and son were left terrified, and the remainder of our night was spent in a state of heightened anxiety and fear. The following day, upon reporting this alarming occurrence to the reception, we were informed that the incident was captured on camera and was the result of a clerical error that led to our room being mistakenly allocated to another guest. While human errors can occur, the lack of immediate action or a formal apology from the hotel staff was both surprising and disappointing.

Pillows in room were so flimsy.

Good things first, it’s near the Dortmund hbf (central station), the city center and the lobby looks like a palace entrance. Unfortunately the hotel is renovating, so the hotel can be dated, noise wasn’t really a problem, but therefor the parking garage wasn’t available.

We loved the appearance of the hotel; it was so clean and the staff were professional, albeit a bit cold and less welcoming than anticipated. However, we enjoyed our stay very much and would not hesitate to return in the future. We did find the construction noise in the morning a little jarring, but we understand that it was just part of the renovations and the hotel could not control the noise, so we were not bothered too much. Overall a very pleasant stay!

There is near station quite nice. But it still renovation at the moment, so I have to go around to get my room. But overall is pretty nice.
