The chalets were very comfortable, 2 separate rooms and decent sized single beds (some very tiny ones down in Abisko!). Sauna was wonderful! Views in the morning were stunning (we were second row from the front). Kitchen had what we needed and the food in Hotel Fjallet itself was delicious. On the down side, the numbers of the chalets were not marked particularly well and Reception couldn't book us a table for dinner, we had to go onto the website which was faffy but all good in the end.

It’s 15 minutes drive to Abisko, and from the room we can see a really nice view of the lake! Great value and convenient if you rent a car. Their restaurant does not offer a lot of food options though. The toilet looks quite old but is very clean.

Breathtaking views and very close to one of the trails to go up the mountains and view aurora

We had (and are still having!) a horrible experience with their customer service. They are purposefully unreachable, both by us and by Expedia (!). The "English" phone number will eventually just play an error message (in Swedish, of course), via email they only answered several weeks after we first tried contacting them and only to push the ball forward without actually giving any answer.
We thought we might have been better luck in person but... when we were informed that the manager got sick coincidentally just the night before meeting us things veered into ridiculousness.
I can understand receiving a "no" to our adjustment request, but honestly this type of behavior is completely unprofessional. We were left with weeks without even knowing if the hotel would be open...

There were extreme weather conditions that cancelled all means of reaching the location. The hotel refused to cancel and even move my booking for another time.
I felt this was an abusive way of holding to the booking terms and conditions under events of force major.

Spectacular views from the room we stayed. Old but homely cottage. Be aware that if you stay in a cottage, you need to pay for linen and towels. You are also required to clean up the rooms before checking out. This was not stated anywhere when we booked the room. Front desk does not answer calls after 6 pm. The receptionist was least responsive to our requests/queries. On the last day of our stay, there was no breakfast served. Staff explained that the hotel was now on the off-season schedule. Nobody bothered to tell us in advance and we were told it was on website.

Totally Amazing location! The hotel is on top of a mountain with excellent views of the surrounding landscape and lake. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are kind and professional. The restaurant in the hotel serves a great breakfast and we had a delicious dinner for New Years Eve. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Fjallet! Thank you!

Cabin is big and clean with nice view. However guest need to pay bedding (about 220 SEK per each) and clean the cabin. Otherwise it has additional 2000 SEK cleaning fee.

Pros: Amazing View, Mountains, "U-Shape" Valley, The restaurant is quite expensive but it is worthy it.
Cons: Parking Spaces are too far from the room, specially on extremely cold temperatures, the rooms are very old, very small and very noisy.
Also cleaning is big issue, we never saw a vacuum working which makes a very dusty carpet.

amazing setting, gorgeous views, unforgettable walks in the nearby paths. the hotel is also decent, but the real attraction here is the overwhelming beauty of nature.

The two bedroom cabin we stayed in was really big and had an amazing view of the lake. We stayed with our six year old and had a really amazing time. The oven and microwave are useful for cooking and there's lots of space for relaxing. I found the hotel was really quick on emailing me back when I had questions.
The hotel itself has a small shop (microwave pasta, a few tins, snacks, milk, coffee etc) that can see you through the first night, as well as small childrens' sleds that you can rent for about 50 crowns a day. The buffet lunches in the hotel restaurant are really good value.
Very few gotchas. We brought our own sleeping bags, pillow cases and towels to avoid a relatively steep charge for bedding and towels, and you're also asked to vacuum and mop the cabins before you check out, again to avoid a very steep cleaning fee. In our cabin the oven was on its own electrical circuit which needed to be turned on individually from an unlabelled timer switch in the porch – we needed reception's help to figure this out!
Would definitely stay again; incredible location.

The area around the hotel is beautiful and easily accessible for all kinds of snow sports.
Having to pay extra for towels, bedding and cleaning seems excessive considering the cost of the stay.

So, this will be a long comment but useful for everyone who wants to visit for the first time. Few things we had experience first time here. You clean your room yourself. And you must clean otherwise you have to pay 20 Euro/day, if you decide during check-in. If you decide to clean your room on the last day of your stay than you will pay 2000 SEK (apprx.200 Euro!!). There is no shuttle service from trainstation to hotel for the pedestrians. They are carrying only the luggages for free, but you have to walk up to hill.

You come here for the spectacular mountain, not the huts. The huts and the built environment like minigolf were fresh in 1970s and fixed previously in 1980s. Clean, weary, small, half broken. Outstanding views from the hut, and the shower water was warm, things were mostly clean. Restaurant had good food, but the pricing was an example from monopoly targeting Norwegian tourists with no money shortage - 3-4 times price/quality ratio to e.g. Kiruna. Sweden is an old imperium and its people are not a servant race, which can be seen here in service as well.

Nice hotel offering a wonderful view of the area.
The restaurant was amazing as well.
Good spot if you're planning to go in Abisko

So beautiful and stunning, but the hotel staff was pretty unhelpful and it was impossible to get in touch with anyone after 4pm when reception closes. This is for the cabins. They were also not really knowledgeable about activities or helpful with booking or figuring anything out in that regard. If you just need a cabin in a beautiful place it is great. If you need any help from the front desk, not so much. I would just come in with those expectations and it’ll be great.

The cabin was nice, warm and cosy. Kitchen is great as well as bed rooms and living room area. Shower could be a bit updated. Staff was really great and friendly and gave good tips and recommendations. Would come back again for sure.

The cabins need to be renewed

Very nice place to stay, a 10min walk from the train station to the cabins. But you have another 10min to walk to the check-in place, it is fine. The cabin is very warm, and the facilities are so well equipped. if you wanna do a sauna in your own cabin, be careful to choose the option when you book. I forgot to choose it, so I missed it.
And there is a nice viewpoint to watch the northern light but depends on the weather. And if you go in the winter, prepare enough food, the restaurant is closed during our stay.

Very cute basic cabin on the hill. It was everything we needed. We enjoyed the snow all around but appreciated how quickly the plow cleared the path on the morning. We would like to go back in the summer.

Friendly helpful staff, good dinner, and a gorgeous view. Clean and attractive main building and restaurant. Comfortable beds. Please note that if you book a cabin, the sheets and towels are not included in the room price (180 kr per set during your stay) room cleaning (2000 kr if you do NOT clean your own cabin), shampoo, soap, hair dryers, and breakfast (175: pp) are also not included in the price. No WIFI in the cabins either, only in the main hotel building. This information is not stated on the Hotels.com page and needs to be added for full price transparency and disclosure. We were frustrated that we did not know any of this in advance as we expected (as advertised on Hotels.com) a 4-star hotel experience. The lack of amenities made this a pleasant 2.5 star hotel experience.

Excellent service throughout, especially at the reception. Room was cleaned daily and restaurant operated efficiently. The lounge area was nice to relax with a cup of coffee or something from the bar. I was walking all of the Nordkalottleden solo and it was nice to get some days off the trail in a relaxed and homely environment.

The room was very small but I think it’s quite normal in that area. The overall stay was pleasant with the amazing view from their restaurant and their excellent staffs.

For what it is, this Hotel is okay. To start, if you arent coming in the summer or during ski season (late feb.) there is only 1 option for transportation and that is the visit Abisko bus which will run you $47USD each way. Taxis will not drive you here and public transportation is seasonal. Definitely not the hotels fault, however I think people considering the area should be aware. Most of the staff was friendly, however, some were not accommodating at all. There was one lady who would not let us use a microwave and told us we could not eat our own food anywhere besides our room. Strange for a village of 85 people, but rules are rules. We had packed our own food since the only restaurant outside the hotel was 2hours away and impossible to get to without a rental car. The next couple of days though we saw several people enjoying their own food in the lobby without getting in trouble. A younger man with glasses was extremely helpful and shared lots of info about the northern lights and free heated viewing cabin that is nearby. We did see the lights 1 out of the 4 nights which was awesome! We booked dog sledding through the hotel after a tour company canceled. The morning of, at meeting time, the hotel canceled as well. It wasnt their fault, but a heads up would have been nice so we could have taken the 1 option of transportation to Kiruna if we had known an hour earlier. They did refund us and let us meet the dogs which was a nice gesture! Also, the breakfast is great!

Everyone was very friendly and i was able to walk up from the train station and check in earlier because my room was ready. That being said it was vold for this Hawaii boy and at the train station upon by arrival i was offered to have my bags brought up to the hotel but not me. LOL. Apparanlty the service is for free luggage tranfer up to the hotel but not until I was there / here since im writting this from the lobby was i told after asking if a ride up or down for people was available i was told yes for a charge. Fine, i wouldnt gladly paid to be brought up rather than walk in the snow after a 15 hour train ride. Still though wasnt so bad just wish it was made known at the bottom that it was available.
There isnt alot of food options in the area this time of year but the food here was fine if staying only a few days . after that they may get limited. BUT the free breakfast was great and beyond it being free it was still great and welcomed!
Bring a camera not just your phone because it is beautiful and you will regret it as i did leaving it behind at home.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful in my opinion and i think that put my whole stay here over the top.
Thank you to all the staff ladies and gentlemen the bartender who with a smile brought our drinks to the table every evening i really enjoyed my time at your hotel.

This was my second year in a row staying at Hotel Fjället. I came back to Sweden again this year and couldn't wait to stay here again. Great location, amazing ski resort, great cafeteria and saunas. Ill definitely be back next year and highly recommend this place to everyone. If you're a skier, or visiting to see Aurora rours, staying here is a must!

Room quality poor and noisy. Hotel facilities and general coziness excellent. Breakfast amazing especially waffles.

Stay was amazing, the staff was very friendly to guide us to look at the wx forecast for the aurora, they provided us with the website yr.no to check hourly update wx forecast. It was cloudy the first night of our stay but we got sort of lucky the second night, but it was very cold to walk 500m to a cabin for the viewing. The restaurant at hotel offers breakfast with very good quality, however dinner is so-so as both of our dishes are very salty.
2.5 / 10.0
Good hotel, but there are two floors, the bottom floor where there is absolutely no Internet and the room was cold, and the floor they eventually put me on where the Internet was very good and the room was warm.In short, check the Internet immediately upon entry, but the service and the hotel really were good.
