This place is so nice you won't believe your eyes! It is so nice we wanted to just stay in and enjoy the space. Once I saw the fully equipped kitchen and the beautiful dinning space I knew where I wanted to have dinner in every night. I cooked myself but it would be interesting to bring in a chef as well. I took the recommendation of another reviewer and parked at les Halles. (It's 20 euros a day, or 30 for a lost ticket 😉) This is the place to be if you want to enjoy time together.

Our stay in The Loft was one of the highlights of our three weeks in France. It is absolutely beautiful, and is well worth the stairs to get there. It has a fully-appointed kitchen, and Mom was delighted to discover that the lovely piano is in tune! The Loft is an easy walk to anything you could need in Avignon. We can’t say enough good about our experience there! Marianne is a superhost for good reason. She was incredibly helpful. She offered to pick up our 90-year-old Mom from the cruise ship, put chairs on the stair landings for Mom, carried our luggage up and down the stairs, give us the history of the building, gave us restaurant suggestions, and even gave us advice when we got sick. We feel like we made a friend!

A beautiful and unique place to stay in the heart of Avignon. Great base to explore the city and the festival and also to hang out in--not least for the stunning roof terrace. The host is super attentive and kind. Strongly recommend if you're in Avignon with up to 4 people and can splurge.

This was the most memorable part of our trip across France. It was perfect blend of thoughtful decoration and historic structure. We experienced a lot in our trip but the one thing that we will remember years from now, will be this loft. It was so special. Marianne was wonderful. Maybe we'll be back again?

My family and I had a wonderful time in this 13th Century loft which was an experience it itself. We loved being in the space so much that we stayed in on our first day in Avignon just taking in the our surroundings while our daughter played the piano which made a beautiful sound in the space. Marianne was the perfect host. Waiting for us at check in and giving us a tour of the loft and explained the history of the church and pointed our details in the structure. It was a very personalized check in which was very much appreciated and made us feel more welcomed. Marianne also went above and beyond by accompanying me to the police station when i lost some property in town. Place is well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay and is centrally located. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Avignon!

There are not enough superlatives to properly describe our stay in Marrianne’s converted chapel! In every way, she exceeded our expectations. The place was beautiful, clean and well-stocked. The location was amazing: set like a jewel in the heart of the old city of Avignon. From the rooftop patio, we looked across the vista of clay tiles at the Pope’s Palace, St. Didier, St. Pierre and more. Les Halles market is a short jaunt through the medieval streets. It was like being transported back to the 13th Century! Marrianne was the consummate hostess, ready with advice on sights to see, places to shop and the best restaurants. I cannot say enough for how well she took care of us! She even walked us to the central train station to help us negotiate the transfer to the TGV depot on the morning we left. Do not delay. Book this place! I know we’ll be back to enjoy more fine Rhône Valley wine and outstanding Provençal cuisine.

Marianne is so sweet and helpful and wanted us to have the best experience. We loved the place and we loved her recommendations of where to dine and park for that matter. We didn’t want to leave - so I think we will have to return.

This property is nothing short of amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. This IS the place to stay when you are in Avignon. There is nothing like it. The neighborhood, the nearby restaurants, the quiet, the safety, the beauty, and there is not one detail missed on this amazingly restored 13th century church. Marianna has clearly put her heart and soul into this place and it shows. I cannot recommend staying here more! If I could rate this higher than 5 stars I would.

Marianne was a wonderful host. The property was centrally located and very spacious. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and we stayed in several nights to eat after buying delicious food at the nearby markets. This was a most memorable vacation in a wonderful part of France. Merci encore Marianne!!

This place was incredible. It’s much bigger than it looks in the pictures! Marianne was a fantastic host and gave us a great history of the building. The location is perfect - easy to walk to all the major sights and tons of restaurants and shopping right out the door, but the apartment itself is very private. Best VRBO we’ve booked by far, and it’s not even close for second place. If you have a car, park in the Les Halles market parking and the property is an easy 5 minute walk from there, even with your luggage.

From the moment we were welcomed by Marianne days prior to our arrival right down to the moment we left it was as though we were living in paradise! The property is exactly as described and to be honest is even more impressive in person. The master bedroom is sure to make you feel like royalty, the living space will sooth your soul while you play classical music on the sound system or play a piece on the beautiful quarter piano! The kitchen and dining loft made every morning incredibly comfortable with everything you will need and a large beautiful table that overlooks the suite. The bathroom is enormous and if you have travelled in Europe you will truly appreciate having BOTH a bath tub and a large stoned shower. Finally the upstairs deck that is accessed through an exciting tunnel will take you back in time and paste a smile on your face as you sip coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. You can walk to everything easily from this location and it is in a safe and quaint location. Marianne truly topped everything off with her hospitable spirit, incredible knowledge of the property’s history and her very timely responses to any questions we had! I was the most sad to leave this property out of every place we stayed while in France! Thank you Marianne for supplying us the opportunity to give our kids such a magical experience!

To begin with, this is a unbelievable opportunity to stay in Avignon and in a 800 year old church. The history of the place in of itself is incredible. As we entered, we were overwhelmed with the beauty and grandeur of the apartment! The sleeping areas worked extremely well for our group of four individuals. The main master bedroom had a very unique sound, based on the need to project the voice when the church was built. The apartment was very well equipped for all our needs and then some. Most importantly was our host Marianne. She took the time to answer all our questions, and give us a history of the church and the area of Avignon. We spent at least an hour and a half with her which made our stay so welcoming and help us appreciate what she has created here. We would love to spend more time with her discovering more of the subtle aspects of Avignon and its history. We would highly recommend this place to anybody who wants a very unique experience in an 800 year old church setting. We in life do not necessarily get many opportunities to experience something as beautiful as Marianne’s place in Avignon.

I am not exaggerating that when we first walked into this beautiful property, that we all gasped in unison. The photos do not do it justice-- it is gorgeous, charming, unique, and very, very special. When we showed the photos to our friends, they were, to a person, jealous. Marianne is a wonderful host-- prompt to answer any questions and gave us a brief history of the chapel. We loved everything about it-- the location (central), the beds (very comfortable), the A/C (kept up with the 38C heat), the kitchen (well stocked), the pool table/chess/badminton games (we made good use of all three). We are a family of four-- my husband and I, along with our two adult children-- and we will forever talk about this house as our favourite holiday rental EVER. Thank you for everything.

Marianne was a wonderful and kind host. The church rental was incredible in every respect. I cannot describe how amazing it was to stay in such a historical place in a perfect location in Avignon center. This place had it all: AC, beds, layout, kitchen, bathroom, sound system, pool table, chess table and beautiful decor. Don’t even think twice…you must stay here. We will definitely be back!

You can’t find a place more authentic than Marianne’s beautiful flat. It’s rich in history and was renovated and decorated perfectly. If, however, you need a lift or have dust allergies, this may not be the place for you. Keeping a 13th century stone building dust free is an impossible task. One person in our group has a bad knee and I have asthma. We love the place though. It’s fully equipped with everything you need to cook, play - location ooh la la! Perfect. There’s free parking on the island across from the town walls and easy to reach. Marianne really spoiled us with her attention to detail.

This is a great place to stay and be with friends. The top floor is spacious and lovely, with stone walls. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. (The owner even cooked us dinner one of the nights.) The air conditioning works well. The rooftop space was being renovated while we were there, but when it is completed it will be marvelous as it provides views over the entire city.

The place is really wonderful, right at the center of the town and hosted by a sweet, helpful and smart lady, Marainne. Highly recommended!

We can not say enough of this property or Marianne. The pictures do not convey the beauty or space this home has. Property is safe and centrally situated. Short walk to Pope's Palace, shopping and museums. Marianne greeted us and explained the history of the home. I felt very comfortable with her and the home quickly. Bed/Bedding were very comfortable and the shower bath were very nice. Kitchen was well stocked. The home stayed cool on it's own and was surprisingly quiet. I could not have improved on the experience and hope to be back.

The pictures do not quite do this property justice. It is stunning. The host greeted us explained the history of this chapel and its place in history. She even carried my bag up! Well equipped Kitchen a stunning master bedroom and just loaded with charm. I will return!

The property is even more spectacular in person than in the photos. And Marianne was an incredible host. She carried our heaviest bag up to the apartment, and helped us feel completely at home. She gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and activities, and also an extensive overview of the history of the space - fascinating. The space has been so beautifully restored, and the attention to detail (like using antique wardrobes as the entrances to the doors on either end of the main room - magical) was both gorgeous and imaginative. I didn't want to leave - but it is well located in the old city, and walking around the immediate area is charming. I would thoroughly recommend this one-of-a-kind property.

Wonderful stay in a historic property. Chapelle is located in a quiet neighborhood but still close to restaurants, grocery stores and the historic sites of Avignon. Historic atmosphere with all the modern conveniences. Unique experience for travelers.

Absolutely beautiful space, and very well appointed. Gorgeous! The renovation is amazingly done and superb. It’s a climb to the top floor but completely worth it. Marianne is a great host, very welcoming and informative.

What a gem of a property! Right in the centre of Avignon, spotless and such an impressive building. Full of history yet very modern and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Generally, it was a succesful and nice stay in this unique and historic holiday rental. The loft is really beautiful and impressive with a lot of historical and architectural elements of the original 13th century chapel. The bedrooms are nice and well equiped, the bathrooms spacious and comfortable. The rooftop terrace gives a nice overview of Avignon and gives even a look to the roofs of the 'Palais des Papes', good circumstances to spend a hot summer day or night outdoors. The location of the property is just perfect in the middle of the city with restaurants, bars, shops, museums and other cultural spots just a few steps away. However our general feeling is very positive about this rental, there were a few concerns of our group. Not every spot in the rental was cleaned very well and we also found filty furniture and tableware. In the scullery, there was a 'not working' large fridge with some chemical products in it (contamination with food ?), what smalls very badly. Not pleasant to discover on your day of arrival! Due to circumstances we were arrived late in Avignon and the host didn't welcome us personally... We can understand this, but it would be better she would give us a personal visit with some explanation and instructions one of the few days followed... The small and tortuous staircase to the rooftop wasn't very practical and safe, but we understand it is typical for such historical building. Park your car in the neighbourhood is not so easy and costs some money, unless you are able to walk or pendle every time to the free car parking at 'Ile Piot'. Also a bit unpracticle for loading and unloading your car. In general, we really enjoyed our stay in this unique property and would recommend it definitely for groups and families who want to stay in the nice environment of Avignon and are interested in history, culture and typical provencal city-life. We don't recommend it for elderly people who are not able to do many stairs, families with smaller children or people who like a very quiet environment in nature.

We loved our stay. The home was well equipped and in a great location. We loved coming 'home' after days exploring the beautiful region.
