Overall, we had a nice relaxing family vacation. The weather was rainy but we were able to do some of our planned activities. This property has several decking areas to enjoy but in need of an upgrade. The property was clean for the most part but we had trouble with ants (in the kitchen) and large bugs (bedroom, living room). The Bowen cottage is in a good location to the beach. We noticed in the pictures that a welcome package was on the table. If you still provide welcome packages, we did not receive one. We would recommend this property but try to make the necessary upgrades (decking, kitchen appliances, screen porch furniture).

Location of the house was great. Easy access to the beach and a quick walk. Definitely needs an upgrade. Living room furniture is very uncomfortable. no extras at this house. Nothing for beach, no books or magazines and that we have always found at other homes. Pets are not allowed at this home for future rentals so we won't be back.

House was as expected but there were many minor maintenance issues. I reported these daily with the app provided but none of them were resolved during my stay. Called and then was told to text the issues. Did this and again nothing was fixed during our stay.

The house is comfortable and has a nice blend of everything you need but not too fussy. The house is incredibly clean and the various decks were a nice touch. The neighborhood and super short walk to the beach were great. Just FYI, note that this listing doesn't list any available beach gear which is accurate.

We had a wonderful relaxing stress free stay! The cottage was just perfect for the two of us but would rent again with a few family members. A few observations for the property would be providing a neater, less overgrown landscaping as there was non area for our very small Maltese to use bathroom other than in the stickers/vines growing along driveway for which she kept injuring herself and the tall natural plant growth allowed her to get two ticks and a flea. Luckily she's white and these were caught early. Also furniture was not comfortable. But enjoyed the layout for the two of us and the proximity to the beach! Bathroom floors were free of debris but needed mopping. Loved all the natural light and beds/pillows very comfortable. Need new recycling bucket. Overall enjoyed staying there!

Probably could have dealt with the unusal cool weather if the rental had been better. The home was very un-comfortable for sitting/sleeping. There was not a comfortable place anywhere outside or inside to sit in the home, not even kitchen chairs, had benches. It was so bad that my neck and back got into terrible shape and we ended up leaving on Thursday morning rather than Sat and the weather was getting better by then but I could not make it any longer. Had to return home and Chiropractor that same day and next day then again following week, actually I still am not back to normal. The Chiropractor himself said I was FUBAR up! Not to mention there was poison everywhere around the outside of the home, underneath, all around side yard along with mowed over cactus. The backyard was nothing but sand pile.

We were there with our 2 adult children, their spouses and children. Every adult had their own room and the children shared the bunk room. It suited us perfectly. The house has 2 living spaces, a large kitchen and several porches 1 is large and covered. We loved the layout and the hot tub. Very clean with everything you needed. Washer and Dryer were a big plus with 4 children. Clothes line under porch was used and appreciated as well as the vacuum cleaner, nice touch. We had never been to Duck and were dismayed at the traffic into town but that is no reflection on the house. We are used to Avon and Hattaras. Loved the stores in town. Short walk to beach, brought a little red wagon and just pulled all our gear to the walkway.

Bowen was a great house for us. 4 houses from the beach at the north end of Duck, it was perfect and close to everything! We enjoyed the shared living space and the 4 bedrooms along the sides. The screened in porch and the hottub were great bonuses!

We had a wonderful time at Bowen's cottage. It very comfortably accommodated two small families and our four-legged friend. The walk to the beach was super short and the outside shower and hot tub were a huge plus. Duck is our favorite town on the Outer Banks - Would stay here again!

The only thing keeping it from five stars was the overflowing trash cans that greeted us under the house from the previous renters. Notified the rental company twice and despite being assured twice that they would send someone to "take care of it" they never did. So overflowing trash sat there in 100 plus heat index for 3 days until the next trash pickup. How pleasant! The house itself was a very short walk to the beach and perfect if you're not looking for a lot of frills. Nice big island and dining tables for a large family or group of friends.

The Bowen unit was GREAT! This was the first place we have ever stayed that had lots of room to put things away, and lots of room to cook. There was no need to push someone else's things out of the way, which was a great surprise. The unit was comfortable, quiet, and secure. The TV and internet amenities were superb.
