It was easy to find and located 5 minutes’ walk from the beach. It’s within half-an-hour’s drive of the world heritage site, Le Morne, and there is an endless list of great things to do in and around Riviere Noire. Artist’s House is a beautiful home with a swimming pool and a very friendly dog, Fluffy. The Hardy’s are a warm & welcoming family keen to open up their home to their guests. One night Stephane, a very capable chef, made a lovely Mauritian dinner and invited some of the guests - it was a special treat, not something to be expected or taken for granted. My last night at Artist’s House, I went out to dinner with the hosts at a local restaurant and enjoyed the company. Diane is a talented & accomplished theatre producer and drama teacher trailblazing English theatre in Mauritius. As a solo traveler, I really enjoy meeting new people and staying at Artist’s House is a great way to get to know the amazing hosts and some of the other guests who pass through.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything that I didn’t like. I shared this with the hosts already, but a bigger dustbin in the room for a longer stay would be good.

Great hosts, very clean, walkable to the beach. Would recommend a stay here. Big terrasse. A shopping center in walkable distance too.

The location was a bit unclear for us at the start I wish the whole address would be displayed here on booking.com. The pool could be cleaner it was quite greenish. The bathroom should have a shower curtain as you wet the whole room showering.

Double chambres familiales au rez-de-chaussée avec terrasse et vue sur la piscine. Chambre équipée de vaisselle, frigo, micro ondes. Grande salle de bain spacieuse. La cuisine de la maison est mise à disposition des occupants pour se faire à manger et faire la vaisselle. Stephane et Diane sont super accueillants et à l'écoute.

Diese Unterkunft ist der Hammer, was vor allem an den Gastgeber liegt. Diane und Stephane sind sehr nett, haben tolle Tipps und man kann sich mit ihnen über viele interessante Themen unterhalten. Für uns war diese Unterkunft einer der Highlights. Das Schlafzimmer war riesig, das Bett mega bequem und das zweite Zimmer war total praktisch , um sein Gepäck dort zu lagern. Wir brachten die zusätzlichen Betten nicht, da wir zu zweit waren. Und die Terrasse am Balkon war auch einfach perfekt, um einen Kaffee zu trinken oder einfach dort zu sitzen. Wie kommen auf jeden Fall sehr gerne wieder, wenn wir auf Mauritius sind.

Nice big room with terrace and private bathroom with window. Sharing facilities in the house like kitchen, pool, and living room, and people to deal with if you want. Cute Fluffy dog 💕 and very welcoming owners. Good emplacement for visiting the South and West (car necessary). A few shops and restaurants at walking distance.

Bed was a little hard for us, maybe it's a matter of habit.

It was nice, cozy, homely and super clean.

Tamarin is a cental place on the West Coast from where you can visit LeMorne, go hiking in the pristine Black River Gorge and enjoy boat trips. We loved the warm hospitality of the Hardy family in their lovely home. Diane was quick to respond and flexible with the check-in. Luxurious linen. Milk in fridge and muesli provided. Good value for money. We would highly recommend Artist House!

The property is just wonderful and the hosts are sweet, I had requested an early checkin and based on availability they provided me an early check in, house is beautiful and rooms are spacious with lovely bed and all the amenities that you need for a comfortable stay, Diane and Stephen both are so welcoming that it felt at home and yes I forgot to mention Fluffy (the healing dog) my wife who is so afraid of dogs was playing with her. Location is very apt with Londay Way Super market just 2 minutes away and Black river is walkable. There is a wonderful kitchen which u can use to prepare quick bites etc and the house rules are not very strict as well. Want to out a note that the property is a non smoking one but you can alway stroll outside the gate and have a smoke. Overall I would like to say that I walked in as a guest but created memories staying there. Thankyou so much Diane and Stephen for making our stay a memorable one.
