Wonderful stay in the hills overlooking Papeete. Maison Taina is charming and very hospitable mostly due to the warm, welcoming nature of Valerie (the owner) and her son, Tom. Both did everything they could to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The welcomed addition of breakfast each day made for a delicious start to our Tahitian adventure

Valerie was a wonderful helpful host, who gave us a lot of good suggestions. The daily breakfast was good and appreciated. The pool was very nice too. Room was big, comfortable and private. Would definitely recommend.

I got lucky to find this family run guest house in a quiet hill neighborhood in Arue. Laurence, Valerie and super chef son Tom were beyond hospitable and made a wonderful stay in Tahiti even more so. The personal touch was everywhere, breakfast was a treat, and the thoughtfully prepared dinner option was amazing. Five stars!!

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Tahiti, Maison Taina is a true guest house gem, that encapsulates the essence of a tranquil family experience.
From the moment we arrived, which was around 2am, we were greeted by Laurent and Tom and felt the warmth of Tahitian hospitality. Valerie, Laurent and Tom went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was special.
The accommodations at Maison Taina are modern with understated elegance and comfort.
One of the highlights of our stay was the culinary experience at Maison Taina. Tom made us a dinner showcasing the vibrant flavors of Tahitian cuisine using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It was the best meal we had on Tahiti! Perfectly grilled Mahi-mahi with a garlic and vanilla sauce and the best crème brulee we have ever had!
Laurent made us breakfast with croissants and café au lait and eggs and fresh fruit and Valerie and Laurent talked with us about the local culture and the “ma’ohi spirit of Tahiti.
In addition to its beautiful accommodations and delectable dining options, Maison Taina helped arrange a car rental for us, recommended beaches and best places to buy Tahitian pearls.
The beauty of Tahiti combined with the unparalleled hospitality of the French owners, Valerie and Laurent, created a memorable holiday that will linger in our memories.

The hosts could not have been nicer. They spoke both French and English. The food was outstanding for a fair price. I would not have eaten anywhere else for food as good. The rooms were clean and after 25 days of crewing on a catamaran the soaking tub was fabulous. The pool was the size of a family pool but just for us so it was perfect.

What an amazing stay. The hosts, Valerie and Laurent made sure our stay in Tahiti was nothing short of incredible. We could not have expected the level of service we received. We arrived as guests, we left as family.

Charming small guest house away from the traffic, tourists & noise in Papeete. Hosts Valerie & Lohan are friendly and make you feel at home, doing your laundry, lending snorkel gear, beach towels & sharing the best places to go for your interest. Great healthy breakfasts & option for gourmet dinner cooked by Chef Tom, Valerie’s son. Rent a car & stay here, for the best experiences in Tahiti, plus info & recommendations for other Islands. Relaxing pool and hot tub, too. We would definitely stay here again!

At our arrival, we were welcomed by our host, Laurent, at the airport. The maison is about 20 minutes drive. We got upgraded to a better room with a wonderful view and the location is pretty quiet. The only noise we hear was from the rooster which is typical in Tahiti. The breakfast was great, fresh tropical fruits, coffee, tea, juice, french croissants/ pain au chocolat accompanied with local fruits jam. Visitors will start a good day with this type of meal. Valérie was also very helpful and she gave us some good tips for the area. Tom, the chef, treated us with a gourmet dinner, very delicious.

The uniqueness of this place comes from both owners, Valerie & Laurent. When you arrive from a long trip, you just feel at home. The view is marvelous, the breakfast is almost a brunch with fresh fruits and local bread, eggs & jams. The design of the bedrooms has been thought with taste and are spacious. Not too many guests so you really feel (and they make you feel!) part of their family! I highly recommend this hidden gem just a little bit further than Papeete but it worth it, really.

I made an incredibly good choice when I selected to stay at this wonderful guesthouse. The room had all the amenities I could ask for and the owners were incredibly helpful. The dinner with the owners and other guests was an absolute treat. Their chef Tom has incredible talent. I highly recommend Maison Taina as a great way to experience Tahiti from a local’s viewpoint. The stay surpassed any of my expectations and I’ll be staying there again soon!

I had a really lovely stay at Maison Taina. It was a true guesthouse experience. The room was comfortable and the outdoor area was perfect for a little dip and relaxation. Felt great to return every night and have a wonderful meal cooked by Tom and conversation with the other guests. Hope to return soon.

Valerie and Laurent have transformed this home to a gem. The decor is tasteful, the rooms are spacious and bright, the fixtures and wallpaper makes you feel like you should when on an island vacation. The water is hot, the A/C is cold, and the wifi works mostly great. The hosts are truly like family, they open up themselves to their guests without hesitation. Tom is a hidden gem himself - young, mature, and extremely talented in the kitchen. He created dishes that I had never even heard of, and the result is phenomenal. The entire family is amazing, and a part of the Tahiti attraction! A few things to note when making your booking: the house is up in the hills and away from town, and you will not make it without a car; the house is up in higher elevation with great views of the ocean in the distance if you are on the second floor; this is a quiet residential neighborhood - that said, you will hear the roosters and cats (if they're in heat), so don't go unprepared: bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. I am generally a light sleeper, but honestly those roosters failed to bother me the second night onwards. I enjoyed my stay immensely as a solo traveler, and would highly recommend this booking.

Located in the hills of Arue, we had a stunning view of the ocean and mountains. The hosts were very kind and welcoming and had great insights about where to go and what to see.

Small lodging up in the hills overlooking the Pacific. Ultra friendly french couple running the place. Rooms are very comfortable and cosily decorated. Great breakfast and gourmet dinner options. Everyone eats together and chats together. Don't get lost on the way like I did admiring the incredible views instead of minding the directions.

I can't say enough about how amazing it was to stay here. Valerie, Laurent, and Tom make you feel welcome and part of the family from the moment you arrive. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere is inviting and warm. Tom is an amazing chef, and I highly recommend you elect to take your meals here as well. 10/10 will stay here again.

I had a lovely 2 day stay at Maison Tania, Valerie, Laurent and Tom did a great job of looking after me. This is not a big resort it is a small family run property which is exactly what I was looking for. I had dinner with the family one of the nights and it was excellent. This is a great spot for solo travellers as well. Thank you Valerie. Laurent and Tom, for being such wonderful hosts! Kind Regards Kathy

I booked this property for 7 days and left the very next morning after breakfast. It wasn't what I was expecting and left much to be desired. It was up on a hill not close to anything which we realized the first night on the way there. They advertized premier shopping which we didn't see. We stayed in a room that only had a sliding door. It wasn't soundproof as advertised and we were woken up by roosters and hearing the owners doing stuff around the property. The bed had both of our backs hurting so there was no way we could deal with that for a week. When you step out the shower you're basically on top of the toilet. The holder in the shower for soap and stuff was rusted and needs to be changed. There was no where in the bathroom to hang a towel not even a hook on the back of the door. We went to breakfast thinking it would be fresh/made to order and there was only crossiants surrounded by flies and covered by a napkin that had hair on it, some cut up fruit, tea, and juice. The drinking glasses were dirty so I didn't want anything. My husband had 2 crossiants and a cup of tea and upon checking out I had to pay $23 for it which to me was absolutely ridiculous. I spoke to the owner letting her know why we were leaving and she was snarky and responded to each of my issues with a rebuttal saying "Did you not read the description?", "the bed is new", "that's the traditional French breakfast", etc. I tried to get a partial refund and they denied it. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Maison Taina has it all: Beautiful property that is meticulously taken care of, well-appointed room with a very comfortable bed (we stayed in Comfort Double Room), spacious patio with flowers, incredible view of the ocean from the dining area, delicious breakfast & dinner and the most welcoming and helpful host family.
Valerie took such a good care of us with recommendations of what to do and where to go for food in Tahiti as well as in Moorea. Her son, Tom, cooked one of the most amazing 3-course dinners that my husband and I have ever had.
I HIGHLY recommend Maison Taina and dinner is a MUST.

20 out of 10 for our stay. We booked this trip last-minute with no plans, arriving late on a Saturday night. By Sunday morning Valerie had given us recommendations for Tahiti and Moorea, she arranged a rental car, a boat trip, and then a spectacular dinner by her son who is a gourmet chef. Valerie and Laurent were so personable and friendly, they took such good care of us, this is like visiting family. The accommodations were perfect, breakfast was delicious (we added this on), and the setting is glorious. We will reccomend Maison Taina to many people, this is a Tahitian Gem!

Maison Taina is a quaint inn located in the hills of Papeete. The owners, Valérie and Laurent and their son, Tom, were very hospitable. My husband had a chance to practice his french at dinner. We were impressed by Tom's cooking skills. We had an excellent meal that was comparable to a high end restaurant. Wished we could've stayed longer to enjoy his cooking.

Valerie and her family were exceptional. Very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Helped us to recover from the Hertz rental car fiasco we found our self in. A rental car is almost a necessity here as taxis are quite expensive. Use Expedia to contact the hosts and obtain some explicit directions to the property as Google Maps is inaccurate in this private residential area. The optional meals offered were way above and beyond our expectations, dinner especially. Tom really is a culinary rock star. 5 stars

This place was really the most wonderful surprise of my whole trip. It is spectacular-bougainvillea everywhere and the feel of a beautifully appointed French family country house near the sea. Valerie and Laurent are the most gracious hosts you can imagine, and their son Tom is an EXTREMELY talented and accomplished chef. He has the kind of originality and finesse that makes for a destination restaurant. If you stay here I strongly advise you try his cuisine your first night so that if you book dinners elsewhere you will understand what you are missing. I have dined at some very fine restaurants but have never in my life had a better meal than those prepared by Tom. He finds unexpected combinations that work just brilliantly. So to sum up Maison Taina- a truly beautiful place run by truly beautiful people.

My wife arrived in Tahiti a couple days before me. Laurent made a special trip to pick her up and ensure she arrived safely. Valerie made her comfortable and Tom cooked some great food. When I joined them everything was great. Nice room, amazing ensuite, nice pool for a quick dip and once again Tom made an awesome fish (Mahi Mahi) meal for us including appetizer and dessert. Highly recommend Maison Taina to other mature adults, couples. ❤️
