The Atlantic Hotel has a great location, right next to the Alta Alsta Lake. The room was very comfortable (superior, Lake view), with a large bathroom and very comfortable king bed. We had dinner in the Health and Grill and both the food and the view was excellent. Breakfast was superb, with a great choice , including the excellent Atlantic Omelette (with shrimp). We used the pool and spa and were overall very impressed with the facilities. Staff at the Atlantic are helpful and attentive, adding to the overall experience. The inner courtyard and Atlantic bar are worth a visit, with a great atmosphere and cocktail collection. I would recommend taking the hop on/off tour bus (it stops right outside the hotel), if you want to see the major sites of the city. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Hamburg and of course, the Atlantic!

The cleaning staff and the staff at the pool area was very kind, smiled and said hello to us. The staff at the desk was very rude. It was very clear that they we weren’t welcome. When I checked in, he was very surprised that I wanted to check in there. He asked for my card, and didn’t explain, why he needed my card, so I didn’t wanted to give it to him, before he explained, because I’ve already payed full price. When I checked out, I meet an even ruder female. She wanted the charge me for city tax, and my receipt said, that the price was inclusive tax and fees, so I didn’t understand, I had to pay another tax, where she just said “no”. I’m not familiar to the German taxation, which I didn’t know was an expectation, since I’m not from Germany.
