Great basic room for a good price - wifi and tv yes but not other amenities

Given the neighborhood and price, I expected less. For example, the bed was more comfortable than expected and the area mostly quiet at night. But the lighting was either dim or glaring, making reading difficult. Heat is provided by an electric space heater, which was not quite adequate on cold nights. And most of all whatever cleaning products are used have an overwhelming scent and irritated my eyes and throat. If management used more eco-friendly products, the place could be a little gem. Very clean, nicely decorated, and within walking distance of Berkeley's Fourth Street shops.

Great. The ac didn’t work but we had a fan. They told us in advance and said we can cancel if the fan is not enough.

I don’t usually stay in hotels like this, but I was pleasantly surprised! Rooms were a bit dated but in good condition. There was no ac, it they had fans in place to make things comfortable. Hotel is run by a family who was very nice.

The property was old but well kept and clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating . Room was clean.

One night stay for business. My expectations were low given the area and price however the parking, room and service were all good. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. I would definitely recommend this place.

Staff were very friendly and room seemed clean overall (except for mold/dirt around bathroom window frame). This is a very basic, old-fashioned motel in a not-so-nice part of Berkeley. It was fine for a one night stay for a good price. Free parking was a plus.

I had emailed ahead to request a ground floor room as my suitcases were heavy, and received a return email confirmation the same day (the property is a two floor walk up). The room is clean and the bathroom fixtures have been updated. There is a small microwave, refrige, coffeemaker and tv in the room. There was a portable tower fan instead of a wall air conditioner, I'm not sure if this is permanent.

It was clean and comfortable. Felt safe and was in great location. Staff was nice.
My critique is that there was no air conditioning. You just had a fan. Granted, it is the Bay Area and doesn’t get too hot. Also, if you wanted any shampoo or conditioner or soap you have to ask for it as it’s not in the room.

My husband and I were picking up our son from Summer School, we needed a place to stay for only one night and came across this hotel in Expedia. It’s a nice small hotel. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Bathroom clean. Fast and easy check in and check out. Restaurants and convenience stores nearby. It’s a great option, and we highly recommend it.

Nice place to stay, in the heart of all things Berkeley! Easy walk to cute coffee shops and eateries. Asian, Mexican, and many other types of restaurants are a short walk. The price was great comparatively to bigger name hotels and motels.

Christy was an excellent host and was very accomodating. The property was well kept. We felt secure. We will stay there again when visiting our son at Berkeley.

Ezy check in, with friendly staff. Clean, basic room. Lots of places to eat nearby, and a 10 minute walk to the nearest Bart station (North Berkeley)

I stay at The Marina Inn whenever I am in town. These are always family visits a few times a year. The desk staff are marvelous. There are restaurants up and down the street. The house keeping service for the rooms is first class. I usually stay for over a week at a time, so I notice the condition of the rooms on a continual basis.

I’ve stayed at the Marina Inn several times and will come back again. It’s well-maintained with friendly, helpful staff, and the protected (included) parking lot is a big plus. Thanks, guys.
