The checkin went fine. Desk clerk was very friendly. BUT, the property and grounds was run down and dirty. When I opened the door to the cottage I rented, a musty, stale smell overwhelmed me. I took the key back and asked for a refund. The clerk said she was unable to refund my purhcase since I booked through Expedia. She showed me another room, supposedly newer and in better condition. This one was just as bad, and I did my best to be polite when I said I just couldn't stay in a place this dirty.

The Nevada City Inn is a very run down, the grounds are really sad no maintenance for a long time is how it looked to me, the room we had #12 was not a good experience with out going into detail I give it a 1. I'll never go back Im surprised the place isn't closed down.

Rude Manager. Dirty and run down. AC didn’t work. We asked for a refund because it was 96 degrees and nothing like it shows on line and they said “sorry, no refunds “. Don’t waste your money. Book somewhere else.

The front door to the room had a crack in it approximately 24" long. The material was so thin that you could see outside through the crack.

I have never in my life experienced such a thing, the last thing I am in this world is a cheapskate, but when you book some thing you expect to get what you paid for, this place is a joke. The bed mattresses had huge dips in them, so were extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. The walls are paper thin, so I could hear the neighbor until 1.30am in the morning. Good location - but not a good place to stay. This place needs a makeover!

An older but funky place - it shows its age, and the room wasn’t ready when we arrived, but the housekeeper made it a priority and had it ready by the we returned from a local brew pub - so it worked out! Would stay again.

very basic accommodation good for an overnight in the area.

the bathroom needs to be repaired before this room is booked again. The toilet is about to break off of the plumbing and it will flood sewage and then the entire room will need to be redone. Other repairs need to be done in the bathroom as well. This place needs a total repair overall. Its location is ideal. But the place is very rundown. With repair, It could be wonderful. The staff offer very good customer service but they are limited by the physical conditions of the buildings and my guess, what the owners are willing to do. The customer service this staff offers is what would be expected at a fine establishment. They could work elsewhere in better conditions. I felt overcharged and that the description was deceiving.

We had a bit of a delay on arrival. Couldn’t reach any one at the desk for about 10/15 minutes. Once they arrived we had a very fast check in and they were super apologetic. They fortunately remembered that there were no towels in the room and provided us with two full sets before heading up. $100 does not get you much these days, especially in California. The sheets were clean and crisp, which was well appreciated. The carpet had several stains but otherwise felt clean/appeared. We did not touch the provided chair. I’ll spare many details- the room could definitely use some simple updating to go a long way- fresh coat of paint, new curtains, curtain rods, cover for bathroom fan, maybe connect it to a switch. The bed caved in the middle so my partner and I were fighting gravity all night only to be repeatedly sucked back to the center. Shower had great pressure and bathroom was clean. Check out was easy, they just asked us to leave the key in the room. If you are on a budget and need a place for the night, this spot has the necessities and the things that are most important are clean and tidy.
