The Surfrider is my go-to for beach overnighters. The location is great, with a direct trail down to Fogarty Creek beach, a lovely and dog-friendly cove. Almost every room has an ocean front view and a balcony or patio, and comes equipped with the typical coffee service, microwave, and mini fridge. There is a restaurant and bar on-site, serving the basics at prices you expect on the coast :) It was closed for remodeling on this visit, which was a bummer but I just drove into Depoe Bay for dinner so no biggie (try Tidal Raves if you do the same). I appreciate the large pet relief areas with lots of grass & so does my dog :) There’s a detached pool area but I’ve never used it so can’t comment. The hotel is aging with very little real updating but it’s usually clean and everything works. Service here is sometimes really good and sometimes just not but I don’t interact with staff much so it doesn’t bother me, I just notice it. I come for the relatively inexpensive pet-friendly rooms in a fantastic beach front location & in that, I’m never disappointed. I’ll be back I’m sure in a few months!

Good stay just disappointed that nowhere did it say restaurant/bar closed and hot tub not working. Check in service was great. Bummed too find out there tearing this place down.

Great stay as always, they are doing beautiful upgrades and the restaurant/Bar is comfortable and friendly- we always forget until we get there how bad the beds are however because we love everything else about it- we were hoping with the new updates that beds had been included, but sadly still so bad I could barely move in the morning

We love staying here, it's unfortunate that they are tearing it down as opposed to remodeling it. I love the older feel, the amenities are great and you can't beat the location.

Did not stay. Room was too disgusting to even sit our bag down. Left immediately after opening room door. The smell was revolting, room filthy, building has rotting wood everywhere. WORST hotel I have ever entered.

We found dirty towels outside the door. We had no access to the balcony. The heater was rusty. There was no air conditioning. They say that the hotel was going to be demolished the following week.

Nice place to stay, property is a little out dated but clean. Convenient if traveling with a pet.

Views are nice. Requested upper floor, never got. Restaurant stopped serving breakfast. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Rooms below top, very noisy. Checked out 2 days early, waiting for refund. Went elsewhere.

Obviously the Surfrider has seen better days, and totally understandable why they are demolishing and building a new hotel on the site. We stayed on 2 separate occasions while going to and from our final destination. The first stay was ok, except the noise from the upper floor was terrible. The second stay was horrible. Hotel was short staffed, restaurant was only taking orders to go, and the noise from the upper floor again terrible but what really got me was when rhe smoke alarm kept going off and the front desk said “we’re short staffed, I’ll try and get the technician over to take care of it”. After over and hour the alarm finally stopped so we cancelled the technician that might be coming over!

The property itself is a gold mine, in which another big company will buy and hike up the prices for the wonderful working class!! So the beach is beautiful and one of the workers at the front desk was polite and helpful, I also went to the front desk for more coffee creamer and I was told no I have none and that was the end of the conversation:(

The room was filthy, the staff up front particularly the woman who checked us in was rude and very unpleasant. She was not accommodating and addressed our arrival poorly. Didn’t seem to care to be helpful or even nice to us. Hopefully things get better when the new rebuild happens and you can get better staff in place.

This property is very old, tired and scheduled to be demolished and replaced by a new motel. It has a fantastic location so I am sure the property that is going to be built in its place will be fantastic.

Views of the ocean are gorgeous. Patios and big windows!

Hot tub did not work, property needs paint. Food was not all that great in the resturant, could have been a little cleaner. Needs to have office clerk in earlier for checkouts.

The property could use some fixing up. The walls and floors were not very sound proof.

Great hotel, clean great staff. My only gripe would be paying for parking but if you know that going into it top-notch place.
