We visited a friend in Durham and chose Silver Fountain instead of the Holiday Inn. What a joy! We arrived late, and when we opened the door, it was like walking into a dream! The decor and ambiance is so welcoming, historic, and gorgeous! We were very excited! Even nicer in person than the photos on the web site!
The breakfast was plentiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the quiche and pear scone.
I recommended it to our friend for other visitors, as well as for her to go for lunch or the murder mystery dinners!
I had not noticed that the room I booked (Marguerite) the last available for that night, had its bathroom in the hall, not in the room itself. That worked out fine, but I would not have chosen it. The room was beautiful, quiet, and comfortable.
We will definitely return!!

A gorgeous Victorian property full of antiques and character. Excellent staff provide an elegant full breakfast. Yes, there are stairs. But this was a lovely destination stay in a quiet neighborhood. Worth every penny.

The Silver Fountain Inn is a lovely old (1871) mansion that has been converted to a B&B. Everything about our experience would have been perfect except for the fact that when we arrived, we were shown to a room without an en- suite bathroom and were directed to use the hallway bath. This wasn't horrible, but it certainly was not what we were expecting. When you book make sure to clarify that your room will have an en-suite bathroom.

We spent 3 weeks driving through Canada and the East Coast of the US and this was the best place we stayed! The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable and the breakfast was great. Everyone who works there is friendly and welcoming.

It was such a lovely stay. Staff was polite and most accommodating. The room was very well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast served in the morning was absolutely delicious, especially the blueberry scones!

The Silver Fountain Inn is a slice of nostalgia with all the comforts of home. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was so polite, kind and helpful. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. If you enjoy a bit of tea this is the place. We were able to enjoy many of the different teas they had to offer. Overall this was an excellent stay.

Our second stay there because we love the Inn. Our host went above and beyond. We had an early morning event, so she graciously prepared a full and delicious breakfast for us earlier than usual. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit!
