The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. We got a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was nice. The staff was very efficient with requests and were polite.
Admittedly, the neighborhood leaves much to be desired but it is close to the subway and there are a lot of recognized food options very near by.
Even though the area was full of a cast os characters, we never felt unsafe and didn't have any issues with the locals.
I would stay there again.

Hidden gem in the southern Bronx. What a great hotel in New York City. Friendly staff, beautiful, historic building, larger than normal rooms for NYC, quiet and clean. A wish the neighborhood was a little better, but properties like this can lead to a change. The neighborhood isn't terrible, but you need to be careful when heading out after dark.

Very nice and helpful staff. Very clean hotel, room and excellent breakfast. The only negative were the flat bed pillows. Definitely recommend this hotel

The property is lovely, and well designed.
Rooms are spacious with high ceilings and marble bathroom counters.
My room was extremely comfortable.
I have had neck fusion surgery, and needed firmer pillows. 2 perfect pillows arrived within 10 minutes.
Breakfasts are not what im used to... which isnt a bad thing. I generally have a protein shake in the morning. At the Opera House they offer a wide selection of pastries, excellent coffee, several juice selections and eggs. All very tasty.

Great interior! Love the history and the classic charm! High ceilings were great and room was so spacious! The bathroom was great especially the shower/shower tiles! Exterior with streets were typical New York but would be nice if more care for the streets could be done! Also, more parking spaces would be more convenient! Overall, would recommend to anyone and will probably come back and stay again!
