LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION on DONNER LAKE, TRUCKEE: enjoy its pristine beauty all year round! It’s called the "Jewel of Tahoe" because it’s so clean and unspoiled. There's nothing but a little sand (or snow) between you and the beautiful lake in a serene setting with panoramic views. Located on the "SUNNY SIDE" of Donner Lake.

SUMMER: lots of lake activities and a seasonal dock, gas BBQ's. Memorial Day - Labor Day and a slip for your boat or your rental boat. Rent a watercraft at the marina right on the compound. They rent all sorts from jet skies to paddle boats to ski boats and party boats. Great fishing too. 200 yards of beachfront. More info on request. *Occasionally a train goes by across the lake on the mountainside and it's great to see and hear as it charges along.
WINTER: we have four major ski resorts nearby, several smaller ones and some cross country skiinglocations too. Sugar Bowl is the closest major resort, 10 minutes, Squaw Valley, North Star and Alpine Meadows, 15 - 20 minutes. There's a smaller, easier, less expensive one across from Sugar Bowl called Donner Ski Ranch and the rustic/casual restaurant there also, open almost year round. * TIP - If you're beginner skiers/boarders, why spend the money for a big resort when you won't use most of it. Go for a smaller one for less cost. Lots of sledding around the area. More info upon request. For lunch and dinner there's the seasonal Lakeside Pub, just two blocks west of us, a great place to get a bite to eat, cute little ice cream parlor (tacos too) across the street from us and a small convenience store. For breakfast there's Donner Lake Kitchen, 3 minutes east of us. **Discounted Ski Lease available. Inquire for details.**
NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Besides the lake and Truckee river, Casino's are 30 minutes away at Stateline and Hyatt in Incline Village, Donner Memorial State Park and museum, 4 minutes, Reno Nevada, 40 minutes and Lake Tahoe/Tahoe City/Sunnyside, 30 minutes. Kids zone in town with lots of activities. Lots of restaurants, 6 miles of abandoned train tunnels with artwork on the walls from artists all over the world, 4 miles west of us. Hiking trails and smaller lakes everywhere. 1/4 mile west is the lakes largest public beach and there's a tennis/pickle ball court there. Organized rafting down the Truckee river or your own raft or canoe for free.
LAYOUT: We have two bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms and a loft. Both bedrooms have a balconies off them. 3 Baths; one with sink, toilet, shower/tub combo. One with 2 sinks, toilet, walk-in double shower and 1 half bath. 1 bedroom has a Cal King "SIeep Number" mattress with fully adjustable firmness control, perfect for people with bad backs and for those who like their bed, "juuust right". The other bedroom has an extra long twin over a queen bunk and there's an extra twin bed folded. The loft has a sofa as does the family room. The townhouse sleeps up to 6 adults in beds with two to a bed in the queen and king beds and one each in the two single beds.
KITCHEN is fully equipped with service for 8. Coffee maker (no grinder), toaster oven, 4 slice bagel and bread toaster, 2 "Crock Pots" (one large, one small), plenty of pots and pans, stainless steel double oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge. Salt, pepper and some other spices are there. Paper products there.
HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive along the lake. You'll find quaint little shops to browse through along wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". People love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on more things to see and do in the entire region from train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to eat.
MODERN TRUCKEE as I call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake. In town you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Jalisco's for casual, excellent, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store)
FALL and SPRING is when it quiets down on the lake. You'll have the lake, pretty much to yourselves. It’s a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of serenity on the lake. There's really no way to describe it, you just have to experience it for yourselves. It truly is a beautiful spot.

This 2 bedroom condo is a great place to stay for its convenient location on Donner Lake and its relaxing views from the balcony. Bring your binoculars!
The space is great for two couples or a small family with two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs along with the TV and a comfy seating area. The main level with the kitchen, dining and expansive seating and 1/2 bath has two large glass sliders which provide great views from inside and easy access to the balcony.
From the condo complex, it is a short walk to the pub, ice cream store and the public beach.
The owner, Tor, was easy to work with and very responsive to our questions at all times. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this place again.

We have stayed at the Donner Lake Village before and this property has been the best! It is so comfortable with the amazing views of the lake. The kitchen is unbelievably outfitted with every convenience, including an array of kitchen utensils, including an ice maker. The views from the deck - morning or evening add to the relaxation. We did rent kayaks and paddled down the creek, so beautiful in that area. Thanks for a much needed vacation in your beautiful condo!! The Minnich's

If you are lucky, the stars will align, and your calendar will synchronize, granting you the opportunity to enjoy a magical experience on the shores of Donner Lake. This is one of the best places to be, sitting on the upper deck early in the morning, around sunrise, is truly a captivating moment.
As the initial rays of daylight emerge, they reveal a glassy, mirror-like surface, which is only slightly rippled by the graceful movements of a family of geese gliding by. A lone fisherman casts a lure, hoping to entice a rainbow trout, while the splash from a diving osprey, eager for its next meal, punctuates the tranquil scene.
From the living room, you can gaze upon the historic train tracks and snow sheds that traverse the 8,000-foot summit of the Sierra Nevada range at Donner Pass. Directly in front of the unit, there is nothing but the serene waters of the lake, a private dock, and an enclosed swimming area with steps leading up to the sandy beach.
The luxuriously rustic interior of the unit features high ceilings supported by massive beams, custom pine cabinets in the kitchen, and a breathtaking wall of glass overlooking the captivating lake.

We discovered this new to the market gem while looking for a place for our annual Nana and Papa getaway with our two grandsons. The condo was perfect for our wants and needs. The condo is right on the water with 180 degree fabulous views. Docks are available, but we only used them for fishing from this trip! Successfully I might add! The mountain cabin furnishings were perfect for the location and very comfortable, with plenty of space for the 4 of us to spread out. Bedrooms were comfortable and had plenty of storage to unpack and feel at home. Kitchen was well appointed. All appliances were in great working order. It is felt isolated from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to gather groceries, eat out if needed, grab gas on the way home, etc. We took advantage of some local activities (Donner Memorial Museum and nearby hiking trails, found the trailhead to the abandoned train tunnels and walked through several of those to add a real life perspective to our young grandsons about life before the internet and what hard work and determination can accomplish).
We had a great stay and would go back again. Tor was very accessible, answered any questions that came up and gave us good suggestions for activities in the area. Don’t miss a walk across the street to the ice cream shop! Great trip full of memories with our “grands”!
P. S. Very friendly neighbors too!
Many thanks for sharing your private getaway with our family.

Our family of four had a very comfortable stay at this lovely condo at Donner Lake Village. The communication with the owner was clear and timely. The views from inside and on the deck were stunning. The condo was stocked with all of the amenities needed for our stay. We will absolutely book again!!!
