The river in front and the beautiful garden adds a touch a nature, it is calm and restful even if it's not far from the center :)

Service, locality, clean, friendly

Wifi. First day shaky. Second day, it crashed.

This was my second time staying at Hospedaje Angeluz while en route between the Nicaraguan border (Las Tablillas) and San José. You wouldn't know it from the entrance, but the hotel is in a beautiful location in the city. A stream flows out back, so you're surrounded by the sounds of flowing water and the wildlife around it. You're also near the Mercado Municipal and within walking distance (or a short drive with luggage) of the Plaza San Carlos bus terminal. There are many restaurants a short walk away. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. The mini-fridge and microwave came in handy, and I appreciated being able to make coffee in my room on my own schedule. Having a hot shower after weeks without one in Nicaragua was also a luxury. The mattress and pillows were perfect for me.

The first time I stayed here, I ended up in one of the rooms on the bottom level, which smelled a bit musty and had weak wifi. On my second visit, I stayed in room 15, which was airier and had strong wifi. I would recommend staying in that room or another on the second level (the level below reception).

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They very much were the highlight of our stay
