The only thing we missed was a water boiler in the kitchen.

Very nice place, helpful staff. You can leave your backpack ahead of time. Suggested things to do and even printed out a map of the area.

It's a pity that breakfast is included, but there is no possibility to take a packet of juice and a croissant when leaving earlier.

Everything is perfect: super clean, super quiet, in green, 24/24 réception. On top of all this, We are for the first time, we have here such a family appartement with 2 toilets and 2 showers 😄😄😄. This is really very convenient!!!

The price was very reasonable, and check-in went smoothly. Breakfast is simple but sufficient. There was a small kitchen for self-made meals but only a few chairs so eating was a bit difficult. Nice routes to walk to near by, and the caves were great!

The overall design of the furniture could have been cozier.

I wish to say special thank you to reception Mario, he is the most professional and helpful. I had from him all the information I need about the area, options of transportation, food, cash machine, open times for the caves, distance to walk to places of interest, etc. For the rest, the hostel is indeed very clean, with all necessary facilities and good breakfast. I didn't use a car this time, but I noted their parking lot is big enough to accommodate few cars.

It was so great! I liked the stay that much, that I stayed longer than I wanted before. :-D In super location, for low price, with helpful, very kind and willing staff. I even got a tea both nights, and for the first of my life I got really large, when I asked for large. It was perfect! :-D Great place, I can only recommend. :-) And good breakfest included, as a super bonus. :-)

I have stayed in many HI - Pousadas da Juventude in Portugal, and this is one of the best, overall. No luxuries, but everything is good and functional.

The beds were uncomfortable. This may be a cheap place, but a good bed would make all the difference.

Having never used a Pousada de Juventude/Youth Hostel before, I was not expecting the level of quality of accommodation we experienced. The property is modern and spacious, with good public areas. We were a party of 9, and the only guests in the property for the duration of our stay. It may have been much noisier had there been more guests. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and made us very welcome. There is parking on-site. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with plenty of power sockets, and extra pillows and blankets. The Continental breakfast was basic but completely adequate, and social distancing measures were in place in the dining area. The location was perfect for our purpose as we planned to be out all day, and there was a lovely cafe about 1km walk away from the hostel. The staff was happy to point us in that direction, and we had lovely food at a very reasonable price. Our stay at HI Pousada de Juventude Alvados was incredible value for money, and I would highly recommend. We visited the Grutas de Mira de Aire nearby, which were incredible, and there are several other Grutas in the area, which we did not visit.

Usually check-in is only available from 6pm, but as the hostel had only reopened that day, and our partly was the first for some time, they were kind enough to allow us to check in an hour earlier. From our experience, I can't think of anything that could be improved upon for the amount of money we paid. We travelled by car, and it may be that visitors without their own means of transport may find it a little remote, and I'm not sure how good or otherwise the public transport links may be.
