Lacking staff

Our room was cozy and made us feel right at home. We could choose between a vegetarian and classic breakfast. There were dinner recommendations on the front desk and we can absolutely recommend the Horsethief Pub & Brewery! Great live music and delicious food options.

Love the house and rooms are nice. No landscaping done … weeds all around this beautiful house. New owners 3 months ago.

No service … staff shortage! Breakfast was good but no final touches. Coffee was cold most of the time … all self serve which is fine , but nobody checking to put fresh out.

The staff were pleasant and friendly and tried hard to please. The bed was comfortable. The location of the property met our requirements with amenities nearby.

The check in times are limited meaning that people were queueing to check in at the same time. At check in, we were made aware of a pile of towels and toilet rolls and other supplies, in the reception area. I just looked a little shabby. At check-in, before 5pm, we asked if it was possible to have coffee. We were told that coffee would be available from 7:30am the next day. The bedroom didn't have and tea/coffee making facility, though there was a fridge and glasses, but no drinking water even. The whole property is a little 'dated' and needing modernisation, especially the bathroom. The bathroom was very small, the bath towel had a hole in. The basin tap (faucet) was difficult to operate. The shower cream was a refilled worn small bottle. We had checked with the property before arrival that they could offer us both vegetarian breakfast, they confirmed they could. At breakfast there was a big handwritten sign, saying we could have cooked breakfast OR an alternative such as oatmeal and yoghurt. No cereals were offered at all. We were given a small slip to fill in - four choices: Eggs (1 or 2 cooked to your liking), bacon, sausage, hash brown, toast (brown or white). There were no options of mushrooms, beans or tomatoes, etc. Being vegetarian we opted for 2 eggs as an omelette with cheese and hash browns. The servings were so meagre! There was a small flat omelette with the tiniest bit of cheese in plus a serving of diced potatoes and 2 very small slices of toast. On a serving table, there were thermos jugs of coffee already made, telling you to help yourself, but the cups weren't nearby, they were on shelves at the back of the room. Other guests were as confused as we were! Litre cartons of fruit juice stood in a bowl with water and lumps of ice. The only other thing was small butter and jam portions. Everything felt like it could do with just a bit more care and attention and quality. It was a bit 'basic'.

Beautiful spot right across from a park and close enough to their main strip you could walk. The rooms were adorable, the staff were very friendly, and breakfast was delicious.
