The grounds and view were exceptional.
The carpet was threadbare and the bathroom towels were cheap and scratchy. Some of the staff were helpful, others had a bad attitude and were not accommodating.
4.5
Excellent beach access and facilities. Huge resort but you don't feel overwhelmed with too many guests. Nice buffet with real Japanese food options!
4.5
Magical location on Kigali coast. Very pleasant activities, staff, room. Nice (but expensive) restaurants. Beautiful location to relax.
A bit further north, further from the airport and town than I’ve stayed.

This is a beautiful hotel, really liked the layout, a lot outside, good size bedrooms, big balcony. We had a premier ocean front 721, very good. Pool restaurant excellent, really good menu selection. Liked all the water refill stations. My teenage son really rated the gym.
The buffet breakfast was very average, not worth it. Found some better places in the local area. Big shout out for Ken’s pancake house in Hilo (bit of a drive but if planning a volcano day, have breakfast once you are there).

The best location and ocean view.
Bed and pillow could've been better.

location, amenities, facility
price little high but willing to pay to stay here

loved location. Did not eat breakfast in hotel due to price.
That I wasn't aware of Kamaaina rate at the hotel itself.

location and amenities, the beach is gorgeous!👍
expensive but I guess so worth it😉

The resort is top shelf and the staff were first class all the way. Our suite was outstanding with excellent patios. The beach wasn't overly crowded and we had little issues getting a good location. Overall this was a 5* resort and we enjoyed our time there.
4.5
breakfast buffet was excellent (although a little pricey).

The view when you walk in is amazing. The checkin process is seamless and fast. Stores are well equipped, the breakfast buffet is great. The rooms are good. Beaches and pools are well maintained and easily accessible.
The service can be a bit slow and inconsistent at the restaurants and bars. The Piko bar staff aren’t very friendly and are selective on who they serve at the tables. The Meridia service is incredibly slow. the food is great and the servers friendly but it took an hour to receive the bottle of wine we ordered, especially when you compare it to the service at Copper Bar at its sister resort. Ikena Landing and room service food isn’t all that great. I received a bill for breakfast every morning that they had to reverse because I had bought a package with breakfast included.

beautiful place, long sand beach
The service at the restaurant on the beach is terrible!

The experience given to us by the staff was amazing
The location is pretty far from every attraction

Staff was very nice, great views, everything was clean.
the technician came to fix something in the nearby room early in the morning, was loud and woke me up.

amazing location / location and location
mediocre food and restaurants - very poor quality and overpriced - please take an uber or car and drive out of the resort

The resort was beautiful, the restaurants were very good . The rooms were okay , I don’t think they were big enough or updated enough for the price
Customer service was pretty poor . When we pulled up in front of the resort none of the valet came to help. There was no bar service or staff at the adults only pool. Everyone’s attitude there was like if you asked for something they would help but it showed they didn’t want to . For us , customer service is high on the must have list .

Housekeeping, bathroom.
Meridia. Expensive, servers overwhelmed. Food ok; pricey. View spectacular.
3.5
The Westin is undeniably beautiful. We loved the water stations throughout the resort, the gym facilities, and the lovely staff at the pool serving food and beverages. The room was spacious and comfortable (amazing pillows!) and the pool and beach were stunning.
Customer service was far below expectations. Our initial contact upon checking in was cold, rude and unhelpful. We asked about parking details and she gave one word answers. There was no warm welcome or explanation of the property or amenities or offer to assist with any inquiries. After that, our interactions with staff continued to be less than ideal, with the exception of the people serving food and drinks around the pool.
There is an additional $37 plus taxes daily resort fee on top of the nightly rate. They hand you a brochure outlining what this covers. Listed are the gym facilities, pool facilities, beach chairs, all the things you would expect to be included in your nightly rate. Also listed are the tote and water bottle that they give you upon arrival. It’s not a free gift or complimentary perk if I’m paying $40/day for it. Just include the daily resort fee in the nightly rate.
Self park costs the same as valet which makes no sense. Parking is not included in the daily resort fee or the nightly rate so if you have a rental car, you will pay $30 additional daily for that.

The location is perfect, the beach is really cool, that's the only cool thing about this hotel.
Book yourself an air bnb somewhere else and go to public beaches you'll feel better.
The front desk staff is ridiculously ill mannered. They won't answer or be rude you when you ask a simple question.
They had me pay 30 usd / day of parking without any prior warning from anyone.
They tried to charge me breakfast every morning even though it was included in my initial booking.
When arriving i got handed by the front desk staff a notice for a 37 usd / day "resort charge" which is insanely ridiculous at this price per night.
This "resort charge" is supposed to give you internet and access to the pool, how pathetic is that ?

magnificent view as you enter. always outdoors (during this pandemic).
couldn’t get a reservation at the restaurant. difficult to get ride share from/to airport.

the upgrade
the additionnal high tax cost per day, and for the parking/valet. the pricey breakfast buffet and a la carte menu
