Location
A lot. Property was like staying in an abandoned old hotel. Halls were dark and hot, no A/C. First room assigned was the same - unacceptable. Desk clerk moved us when I told her room not acceptable. New room OK, but still in dark, deserted hallway. No employees seen anywhere. Desk clerk was nice, apologized for hotel condition. She said owners recently sold the hotel. Vacancy was high, nobody around. All food and beverage services were closed down. We will not return to Stoweflake. Booking.com is embarrassing itself by carrying this property. We are used to traveling in undeveloped countries with lodging standards not up to Booking.com standards. And we have always been happy with Booking.com. - have never written a negative review. But Stowelflake Resort is the exception.

Quiet and centrally located to all of the various areas of Stowe. Loved the outdoor pool which is large and not overcrowded by numerous and noisy crowds. My partner was very pleased with the treatment that she received at the spa.

Clean, comfortable, exceptional staff , mini fridge
Not enough outlets, no usb charging stations, slow drains

Centrally located.Staff was friendly.
Stowe Flake is getting dated-needs a sprucing up. It’s clean, but worn down. Spa was open, but temporarily moved to the sports/gym area when we were there. Spa treatments were fine, but atmosphere was sub-par.

The town was great, there was nothing good to say about the hotel.
The room looked like a Motel 6 room, it was not very clean or comfortable and had nothing in it- no microwave or fridge, the bath was just a pain OLD tub. The outside of the hotel was rundown. We tried to check out early and be refunded for the days we hadn't stayed, but the front desk was not apologetic about not having most of their amenities available and also NOT INFORMING US WHEN WE CHECKED IN that the Spa, bar, and restaurant were not open! (By the way, note that the hotel had told my new SIL that these things would be available and that renovations would be complete because the first couple days of our stay were for a wedding). They refused to let us check out our refund for the remaining days, so though Stowe was a beautiful town and there are plenty of outdoor things to do, the crappy hotel put a damper on the rest of our stay! MAJOR DISSAPPOINTMENT when this is supposed to be a 4-star resort and the spa is one of their main attractions! Not to mention, my husband used their iron, had to get a new one because the first one didn't work, and the 2nd one had a metal bur that we didn't notice until it PULLED threads out of his $100 shirt and ruined it! There is no breakfast available, and their restaurant is closed as i mentioned already.. And, they don't clean the room, we were in the room when they came to clean after the 3rd night of our stay, said they would come back, but didn't. We had to CALL the front desk the next day, and were told at first that they don't clean the rooms every day, then I guess they realized that it had been almost 5 DAYS without cleaning the room and said they would send someone. I never leave bad reviews, and I'm actually not a Karen, though I know it seems like it from this, but this place is a total letdown! PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

The property was in close proximity to breweries and restaurants which was very nice.
I tried three times to reach the spa and no one returned my calls. It wasn’t until I called the hotel that they told me the spa was closed. It was too late at that point to book another hotel as the rates had all gone up. So we went somewhere different for our spa services. The hotel is cashless but they have vending machines everywhere that accepted cash only (so no change could be provided). Thankfully they had some options at the front desk. The ice machines were disgusting and full of mold. The hot tub was not very clean and overall the hotel was very dated. Carpets in our room had permanent stains in them. The room was clean overall. They did allow early check-in and the location was good. I wouldn’t recommend it though.

Stowe is beautiful and the location is close to everything.
Hotel staff were not friendly. Hotel is not being kept up. Beds feel like you are sleeping on a 40 yr old rock hard bed...spa was closed without any notice when booking, and elevator was out of order. Someone actually got stuck in the elevator!

Food was good, staff very nice but only 1 waiter for entire breakfast room. Service was slow because of that.
Very limited staff. Everyone staff member was friendly and nice but they were certainly busy.

The spa was nice but we had to pay even more just for a day use after paying 800 for our room
Our room wasn't the cleanest there was a robe missing. The jets in the tub didn't work the first night the bathroom sink was clogged and there was something crusty and dry that had ran down the bathroom wall that was there our whole stay. No house keeping no room service. Dogs barking eventhough we were in a no pets allowed room someone else had one next to us. There was mold on my apple Danish at breakfast the first morning we were there.

WIFI was very poor for the first 2 days of our stay. We expressed our issue with the staff but they said there was nothing they could do. On the last 2 days, the service improved. Also the hotel could use some updating in terms of aesthetics.

Nothing. Unfortunately
This was a horrible place to stay!
Immediately upon checkin we were taken to the area in the back where the rooms are like motel rooms.
We had to tow our luggage up two flights of stairs in the cold and nobody offered to help us.
We then went to the front desk to show them that our original reservation was for a standard room not the one they put us in and they gave us a lot of pushback saying nothing was available.
They made us wait with two kids for an hour and finally moved us to a room inside that looked like the room we booked. They went from telling us there were no available rooms to finding one.
We then unpacked and I went to turn on the water in the bathroom and it came out dark brown and did not clear up even after running it for more than 10 minutes. The bathtub was the same. We went to the front desk again and he told us the room hasnt been used for a while and the mineral deposits caused the water to be brown and to run it for ten minutes which we already did. We then said we are leaving for dinner and would appreciate it if someone could take a look.
When we returned from dinner, the water was still brown and continued to stay brown for all four nights we stayed there. On top of that we found bugs in the bed!! We had two children with us and I couldn't even shower them
After skiing since the water was discolored! On top of that the hot tub was broken the first night so they told us to go to the spa and they would let us use it.
The lady at the spa basically called us liars and told us the hot tub was working and went to go check and miraculously it was working by then.
It was a horrible experience and we almost left Early since we were so disgusted. The room was filthy dirty and we had to beg them to clean it every day. The final mail in the coffin? The lady at the front desk
Upon checkout tried to charge us again! We booked via a third party and they had already charged us up front! Ridiculously low standard and very rude staff!

Nothing
The place was absolutely overpriced. We paid almost 1,000 dollars a night for a cabin with one king bed and a sofa that didn't even turn into a bed. The place was falling apart (see pictures). Wall paper peeling off the walls, lights in the bathroom flickering, broken blind (open) in the bathroom (yes, where you're usually naked).
Housekeeping is only done "every third day" (in a place where you come from skiing every day), and you have to book it in advance. Even though I booked it and confirmed the night before, we came back from skiing on the third day, and they didn't do it. I had to go to the front desk to ensure they did it the next day.
The staff was friendly but I asked a few questions at the front desk and that shift didn't know anything because "he stared last week".

Loved the amenities: squash court, fitness center, heated indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Very much appreciated the various fireplaces throughout the property.
Would have loved a wood fire in the main lobby versus a gas fireplace

It felt like family. Ready to help at all times with genuine friendliness.
The internet service in the room was exceptionally poor.
The top two corners of the room fire place are right at temple level and nailed me twice and my son once. They should at least be rounded.
