By the way - der Parkplatz am Eingang zur Anlage ist eng und eigentlich immer voll, park "at your own risk".

Not far from airport. On the ocean. Beautiful gardens & lovely rooms. Bikes were great to use. Close to food options. The area under the beds to put large suitcases was fantastic.
Probably only having to get luggage up stairs.

Absolutely loved it here! Parking fine, accommodation brilliant, we had an ocean view room , it was big, clean and everything you needed.
They are now renovating the next building, you may find it a bit noisy (luckily they started on our last day)
Don’t hesitate booking this place

Location on the island is perfect. Being in Kapa’a both inland, north, South and even west shore activities/sights are within an easy 1 hours drive. Already good surf at Keolia beach (10mins). Hotel
Is just off the highway and far enough from it to be quiet. Nice sunrises on the beach. Beach itself is beautiful but not suitable for swimming. If no ocean swell it catches windswell as it is the windy side of the island. Shorebreaks, rocks, reef, swell breakers (?) in the water.
Cleaning staff really good. Staff that maintains the premises very helpfull. Guys that are renovating friendly and considerate. Receptionstaff so so… bar staff ok.
Parking space issues. If you want to park on the premises you are pushed into valet service. Normal parking spots in evening are scarse. You can easily park on nearby mall spots though.
Pool was dirty/contaminated, sunscreen lotion iso water.
Food in lavalava resto simple but extremely expensive. Nice Setting though. Eating out might be better option
Rooms are tired. Renovation of the premises are in full swing. Our rooms certainly were at the end of its lifecycle. Moldy floors, old window frames, bathroom at its end. Bed was ok.
Special requests (extra chair, extra sheets, new safe) were complied with but only after asking 2-3 times.
Hotel uses endlessly multiple packages and rates. They advertise 5th night free on their site but only if… booked 4 nights, then decided we wanted a 5th (after 2nd night) but no way that it would be free bevause we booked through an agent… payed a lot more for the extra night

Location is fine to explore the island, pretty close to the airport. There is a nice restaurant on the beach. There is a car valet service for free
Well, as soon as I get in the bathroom I found a big cockroach. I reported the situation to the reception, she said someone will fix the “problem”… which probably was done. However, I would have appreciated a nice gesture like getting an apology or a discount. Nothing was done. Staff not very nice.

Had this updated, old school feel. Well done renovation; good for families as well as couples
Parking - we had to valet it was too crowded; food was a little pricey but enjoyed ambience

The location was great and we also really enjoyed the island vibe with the live music, lights strung across the grounds and the yard games.
We had reserved two rooms and one of the showerheads sprayed water all over the bathroom floor in room 110

Decent location, clean, overall good enough as just a place to stay and sleep. Nice little lawn with games etc. convenient to the coconut marketplace and lava lava beach club. Not that full when we went so we didn’t have trouble parking. Giving us a plant at check in was a nice touch. Live entertainment by the beach/pool was also really lovey. Overall despite the negatives I would recommend this as a “budget” option in Kauai (budget in quotes because it’s still quite expensive for what you get… but that’s Hawaii for you)
Felt the whole thing was quite “motel”-y and just okay all around… food/drinks at lava lava really overpriced and not that good, much better deal at the coconut marketplace across the street… the beach here is ok but much better beaches on the north shore or poipu. Shower temperature constantly changed. There was one day when no one made our room. We had to turn off the AC at one point because there was a weird smell coming out of it. Sheets super thin and not the world’s most comfortable bed

The walk to the beach area was close.
The room did not in any way face the ocean. The staff in the restaurant was rude and territorial about only waiting on "their" table with a LOT of staff chit chat together off to the far side.

I love the orientation of the hotel to the beach. The buildings are arranged allowing the beach breeze to blow onto the hotel grounds creating a welcoming environment.
The beds are hard and the bathroom counter is small. I thought the restaurant was mediocre.

The location is great!
The Lava Lava restaurant and beach club was lovely, the food was very good, although the prices quite expensive.
We borrowed the bikes that are provided free of charge, this was a great addition to our stay as it gave us the chance to visit the local beaches and market. There is a cycling path from the hotel to the southern and northern beaches.
The beach just in front of the hotel is really nice, the swimming pool and the jacuzzi are a nice addition.
The rooms clearly need refurbishment, they are quite old; our room smelled of mold and part of the balcony upon our terrace was detaching and falling apart due to humidity. We stayed three nights and overall it was ok, but if the rooms were refurbished the place would gain so much value as the location is really beautiful!

Great relaxing, family vibe. Superb, hard working staff. Easy proximity to shops and Kapaa town. The Lava Lava Beach Club was a very nice additional amenity when you feel like just hanging out.
The bathroom is in need of a major overhaul.

Ugly patio with people walking by who could look in and view of back side of business next door

It was our first time and great. Lava Lava was good, bike rentals a plus. Great location. Very accommodating and quickly resolved technical issue. Would stay there again.
Small nits only. Need second privacy blinds on windows, and bike directions north were not good, could use a map until they complete path to your hotel.

It was a Palm Springs vibe on a Hawaii beach. we loved walking out to sunset and sunrise, playing all the lawn games right next to the water. All of the facilities were really nice and the restaurant was right on the water and we ate on a table in the sand!
The rooms are very basic hotel room, but the rest of the hotel more than made up for it.

Kauai Shores Hotel is a great location for your stay in Kauai. It's close to the airport, has a good shopping and dining area nearby, and it's conveniently located in Kapa'a (more or less in the middle if you'd like to travel north or south). There is direct access to the beach, and they have a free bicycle rental, which is great because there is a beautiful coastal bike path starting next to the hotel. The rooms are clean and quite comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The parking lot was quite big, but the spaces were very tight, so it took an effort to park sometimes. Also, when you have a room without a kitchenette, there is only Keurig coffee machine, not even a kettle or a microwave.

Very clean and good location.
We expected from a 5star hotel for some kind of attention that we are on our honeymoon. Instead of putting us in a room with a construction building view, even that we paid for a partial ocean view. The pool chairs was always occupied and there was no room for us to lay back. The pool and the jacuzzi was crowded with children that screams and jumped all day and interrupted the relaxation vibes. For a almost 90$ breakfast buffet we expected much more!

Retro well done! since it’s a smaller old strip type motel - all rooms are close to the beach compared to newer properties. Perfect vibe for a stay on Kauai. yes the rooms are not elegant and the bathrooms have the old tubs and small vanity - but that keeps it authentic…and who cares as this is the island of no makeup, curling irons and outdoor showers!
Right on the beach with pool, jacuzzi, free bikes, fire pits, picnic tables, cornhole and games outside - great outdoor places to hang out in the evening after all that hiking, snorkeling, beach and boat action that Kauai is known for.
Restaurant and bar RIGHT IN THE SAND on the beach - laidback and casual with excellent food and service.
Only downside is hours of pool and jacuzzi - 9am-10 pm. We would have loved to use early mornings before heading out for the day.

Near the ocean, good entertainment every night
Car valet parking very good
Restaurant expensive
Staff wanted all the money up front at the beginning of stay I didn't feel trusted
