The design of the hotel is very cool and modern. We had a fireplace in the room and it was very cozy.
There was some hair in the bathroom

Location was excellent, in between downtown and campus. Our room was small but had a fireplace, no desk, it was cozy, tidy and clean. Our friend's room was huge and had a fireplace and large desk (upgrade if you need a desk) I loved the Aesop bath products. The hotel is smaller so less traffic/noise than some of the bigger ones. The room and stay was overall fine, they just need to train their staff a bit. And I would check your credit card statement for unusual charges after your stay, esp if you've canceled a room.
I really wanted to love this hotel, but we had a few issues.
-I booked 2 rooms on booking.com and canceled one well in advance of our stay. However, when we arrived, they hadn't seen the cancelation and already charged 1 night for that room. They then refunded the room upon checkin
-After check out, we noticed 2 pending charges totaling almost $700 which was way more than what we owed for the 1 night of 1 room. (1 night was already charged prior to check in) When I called, the staff that I spoke with didn't know what the charge was for and insisted that the amount in the "folio" was the only thing being charged. I was a bit disturbed by the extra charge being held on my card and the fact that they didn't know what was going on- did somebody use my card? was this a mistake? So after 3 phone calls and 5 days later, the pending charge finally went away and the charge for the 1 night posted (although the amount didn't match my booking.com rate because there is an extra tax that they need to charge upon check in and this was not conveyed to me upon check in) My suggestion to the hotel is- let guests know upon check in that you're holding $X for incidentals or for the stay and that the funds will be released by your credit card company and you'll be charged only for what is on your folio at check out. Or say your rate includes $X in taxes that we charge upon checkin. Seems like pretty basic communication to me. I've stayed at many other hotels who let me know upfront that they hold $ for incidentals. I don't mind, I told them I was happy to pay them whatever I owed for the room, but what were the extra charges? Didn't have a lot of confidence in them for saying, "I don't know what the charges are, we didn't charge that" when I saw it on my statement. Extra staff training/communication to clients should fix this.
-room wasn't serviced even though we didn't put the tassel on the door.

Loved the Aesop bath products. Very beautifully remodeled space. Nice pastries for breakfast.
The room (had a king room) too small for a longer stay (basically just a bed, so not really suitable for working or eating). No heating in the bathroom. My internet didn't work in my room for one full day, only on the second day was I helped sufficiently by the internet being reset by a technician in the whole space. Breakfast could offer more things.

Easy access

Really loved the room which is nice and cozy, with little details like soft jazz music playing as you enter and soft lighting, as well as nice amenities and a very soft bed. Everything looks new and well maintained and well kept and clean. And the reception was very friendly and helpful too.

Brand new property, large and spacious room, all facilities needed. Staff were exceptional and very friendly. Big and comfortable bed and the best bathroom and shower pressure we experienced in the US.
Location is on the outer of the town, we didn’t mind as we had a car. Still worth staying at.

Great boutique hotel with some very nice touches

clean, comfy, and cute!

The basic breakfast left on the door was a nice touch, but that's pretty much the only positives.
The floors and surfaces were filthy. I took a towel and sanitizing wipes (I carry with me for this reason!) and they were black after I cleaned. Also I saw that the glasses weren't clean, which made me question everything else and left me very uncomfortable. How do you vacuum and keep clean jute rugs? It felt very much like a motel stay although the rate was the same as a beautiful 5* property we had just stayed the night before in Carmel Valley.

The attention to detail was excellent. From the wonderful, connecting and thoughtful staff to the charming decor, top notch products in room and lovely scones, coffee and tea served in the room.
Robes would be a nice touch.

Modern lines, newly renovated, comfy bed, big room and big bathroom, free parking.
The bathroom was very cold. The room was facing the parking lot so we kept the shades down. I had room 21. There were rooms facing the back, so they had a bit more privacy

The scones were just okay. The coffee was welcome!
The electric car charger in the parking lot was not working.

decor, attention to details and little extras, great shower pressure

wish the car charges worked…

room was clean and comfortable. close to everything we wanted to do in SLO.
everything was perfect!

The room was very nice and comfortable.
I booked the room with breakfast included. However, it consisted of coffee and just two very sweet cookies. In my opinion, that does not qualify as a breakfst. At the price of the room, I expected a solid breakfast.

I enjoyed the hot coffee waiting for me when I woke up. The pastry (scone) was also great and they made sure to have enough for everyone in my family (we had two rooms). The rooms are large, clean, modern and tranquil. We had a gas fireplace in each room that really warmed the room. The bed was very comfortable as well. Shower was excellent and very large, with premium products there from Aesop (which I love already!) to use. Great location close to downtown (less than a mile) and highway 101 (but you can't hear it or see it). Would definitely stay there again, it felt like being in a master bedroom in a beautiful home.
Less light from the windows. The shutters let in a bit too much light for my taste.

Tatiana was a breath of fresh air! she was personable, sweet and took care of a mother/daughter by offering us a larger, quieter room. We appreciated her welcome after a long drive. 😊
think it could use a fresh coat of paint inside!

it was a well decorated room with cool furniture
it is so overrated… it certainly didn’t met the expectations. it is a cool hotel, that’s for sure, it is well decorated and has cool appointments but nothing more… a lot of things are broken. the worst part is the misleading information about the breakfast! it’s not true that the breakfast is included as advertised. they just give you a cookie and some coffee and call it a breakfast. for the price I wouldn’t stay here again and would not recommend it. I am sure there are far more better options!
4.5
Big room. Location is good.
Doesn’t feel like a professionally run hotel, more like an airbnb place tbh. Room decorations very instagrammable, so there is quite a discrepancy in person. Breakfast was better than nothing. Not very value for money.
4.5
great decor and lovely staff
couldn’t get the tv to work but we didn’t feel the need to inform anyone as we ended up having a drink and a lovely chill out instead

nice room. close to campus. staff was wonderful. loved the morning coffee/pastries- great touch.
construction next door was very loud. it started really early and was very close to our room.
4.5
Location, cleanliness, high-end decor, comfort and fireplace. Most pleasantly surprised by unique design and quality of furnishings and accessories. One of the best night's sleep in a long time!
Lighting in the bathroom was not sufficient given dark walls. Perhaps additional lighting above the mirror would help. Otherwise beautiful!
4.5
comfortable bed, nice fireplace in the room
we stayed during a major winter storm, all clothes got soaked and although they have a washing machine right next to reception and few guests staying, they would not consider allowing us to do a load of laundry.
breakfast is coffee in a thermos - not enough for 4 people, no milk, nothing for kids to drink. and one scone each. no options that you’d expect from ‘breakfast included ‘
check in person seemed high.
4.5
love this little inn! spacious rooms with modern decor and all Aesop products. loved the touch of bringing the carafe of coffee and pastry along with the complimentary tote bag for the continental breakfast. super clean rooms and staff is extremely friendly.
nothing!
