Stayed in the cabins. Friendly, helpful staff. Coffee and snacks available at the lodge. Great location in a private forest including a waterfall.
Nada.

Very secluded
There should be a lighted path to each cabin

Romantic place to stay if in the main suites. But no not in the farm huts. Yes the waterfall and pool are amazing …. If you are near or in sight of them but many outbuilding rooms are not.
Staff were great
Just include the breakfast with accomodation. Not added charge would be more fair price.
Explain and tour the farm part of the accomodation. If you come late at night, chances are good you might get missed by morning to get any kind of tour

We only stayed for a night, but the energy of the the staff harmanized perfectly with the Ainas. One of the most powerful places I've been. We will definitely be returning even possibly for day passes. Loved, Thankful , and Enjoyed every aspect of stay. Mahalo Sending Good Vibes And Aloha

The grounds were gorgeous! Amazing waterfall! It was fun living in the cabin off the grid for a few days and meeting the 20-somethings who worked at the farm.
As guests of the farm, we got mixed messages about how welcome we were to use the facilities at the Inn. One morning we were told we could not use the bathroom in the lobby as it was reserved for “guests.” (We thought we were “guests” as we were paying over $600!). But other staff treated us warmly, and I think that unpleasant experience was an anomaly.

The trail system was incredible. Great access to the river.

Everything was. perfect except the dinner.
The dinner by the falls was beautiful. We did the special dinner in 2021 and it was exceptional. The food was amazing. and the dinner entertaining. The dinner in 2022 was very poor and a complete rip off. The food wasn't even good. The chefs did not seem to be getting along and the salmon was bad.

Amazimg stat in this wonderful place.

The seclusion and amazing waterfall. breakfast was great. people great. loved it.
Price of the gourmet dinner was too high. we wanted to do this for my birthday, but for 2 people it was over $250. And if you wanted wine pairing it was another $59/person. I think the whole experience could be made more affordable for people.

The property was amazing!! It was so secluded and relaxing. A perfect place to hang out and forget about everything and be immersed in tranquility.

Beautiful location, nice walk down to the waterfall and into the rainforest. The room clean and well appointed. Breakfast was easily selected online beforehand and tasty.
Room darkening shades would be preferred. The path by the stream from the waterfall was under construction and muddy.

location is excellent, the views are amazing

2 points for scenery and eco friendly. The rest needs major improvements.
- check in was a bit of a disaster (disorganized messages, not even a basic map for reference)
- cabins were poorly made: holes in the mosquito net, can’t even charge my phone to full battery, heard all the partying from the main house and even our neighbor told us they can hear every word we say
- poorly managed: seems like a bunch of teenagers are trying to figure out how to run a hospitality startup
- overpriced breakfast with small portions
- suggestion: change your price to a 1 star hotel if you could barely provide basic services properly

A very charming inn in a truly Hawaiian environment. I would choose this authentic, beautiful, natural setting over a Hilo beach resort anytime! The sound of the Falls and the walk down the garden path was enchanting. A wonderful find and a yummy breakfast!

Breakfast was very good and made to order. Some days I wish it would be served earlier but this is Hawaii. The grab and go option was wonderful.
5.0
The privacy and especially the peace and quietness.
the staff was extremely friendly and forthcoming.
Would love to come back and enjoy it again anytime. highly recommend!!!

The surrounding of the Inn is fantastic - you are just outside of Hilo, but it feels like you are in a middle of nature, so green and peaceful. The waterfall and the pool are amazing, with a nice round walking path. The food was delicious, with fresh pineapple for a breakfast.

My husband and I had been to Hilo several times in the past and looked forward to visiting this hotel as offering something different from the usual. The setting is very nice and it could have been a great stay - but for the hostile attitude and sloppiness of the staff at the check-in and the restaurant. As we were checking in I asked if there was a restroom in the lobby. The clerk became irate and in a lecturing tone told me that while there was a restroom in the lobby, I should not ask her again. Well, ok. The following morning we went for the included "free" breakfast, located in a separate building on the property. When we arrived it was raining pretty hard. A line had formed on the lanai and we stood at the end. A staff member escorted both of the groups ahead of us to their tables, but she did not return. I stepped up to the nearby kitchen door to ask if we could wait by an empty table that was next to the door and under the roof to get out of the rain until we could be seated. There were several employees in the kitchen who turned and began to scream at me to get out. Again, well, wow, ok. One of the kitchen folk followed me, still screaming, to the area on the lanai where we had been waiting to continue her tirade and tell us how short of help they were and that we would just have to wait outside in the rain. We decided to eat elsewhere. (Highly recommend Ken's House of Pancakes in Hilo). Finally, as we returned to the hotel that evening we encountered a locked gate on the unlighted, remote road to the hotel. There was no signage to tell us how to get through the gate. After searching in the dark for several minutes we found a speaker phone to contact the hotel. The employee who answered gave us some not overly helpful instructions on where to look for a key to the gate. After another several minutes of searching in the dark, we found the code box and were able to get back to the hotel.
1) Staff might volunteer the information to newly arriving guests that there is a gate across the road that will be locked at sundown and offer info about the entry code and where to find the code box. That would be very helpful since the only way to get anything to eat (other than the reservation only, very pricey dinner) served at the hotel is to leave the property and go into Hilo.
2) Staff might want to show common courtesy to guests. It isn't my fault you are short of help. I will, however, do all I can to solve your problem, like not ever coming back to this hotel.

waterfall is quite beautiful. staff is friendly. food is pretty good. room well-appointed and comfy. awesome inn cat. nice koi fish.
it is REMOTE. our MO was to get dinner in Hilo to go and take it back because once you’re in, you don’t want to go back out, especially at night. it is in the middle of nowhere, through a security gate, up a twisty, turny, one-lane road at 15 mph. to be fair though, you can’t have grounds that beautiful and also have it be convenient, so…Also, we waited for breakfast for 45 minutes on one of our days there.

This property was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the room was so comfy and lovely. The waterfall was of course amazing, and the location of the inn is so peaceful and removed from the activity in Hilo. We loved this inn so much that we're already planning to stay longer the next time we are on the Big Island. We also were graced with the presence of the resident cat, Alice, who slept on our bed all night. Really sweet.
We would love for the trail to be a bit longer and to reach the next set of falls, but honestly we don't have any real complaints.

It's a good location.
I did not like the breakfast.

The location was wonderful. Beautiful terrace with great views. Within walking distance of the waterfall, where swimming was also possible.
Getting there was a disaster. There was virtually no willingness to be helpful. Despite prepayment, the credit card had to be sent again by photo on the day of arrival.
Due to a flight delay, we arrived only around 9 pm. We have communicated this in advance. Again, there was no helpfulness. Despite the absence of staff, the hotel was not able to receive us personally.
The accommodation was very sparsely equipped. No hooks, hangers or lockers for suitcases or bags.
Unfortunately, very early (6 am) engines (power generators) were already started.
As a guest we felt only tolerated ubd not welcome.

The cabins at Kulaniapia Falls were a lovely getaway in Hilo. Located on a farm the views are simply lovely. The cabins themselves are very simple but perfectly adequate. Bathrooms and kitchen facilities are shared with the farmstay workers and it was fun to meet them and the wandering goats.

What an awesome location and surroundings! Absolutely loved being able to sleep next to the waterfall and the see it in the morning. Gorgeous location and well maintained. Everyone at the Inn was very friendly and helpful!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!

Grounds & views are phenomenal. Check-in a breeze. King Kamehameha room very quiet -- slept great.
No hot water in shower. Tried numerous times on both days, left running for 15+ minutes, & turning on bathroom sink first, but couldn't get it above room temp.
