We liked the convenience of the first floor walkout room and how close it was to food and shopping.
The floors were dirty, the tub faucet was broken(twisted and pointed to the side), fridge was on the WARMEST setting. The receptionist didn’t even stand up to greet us. She asked me for a map and had she stood to greet us she would’ve seen it.

The property is convenient to the interstate and the landscaping around the buildings and pool is attractive, but not quite as lush as shown in the photos. The front desk clerk was young and friendly. The room key-cards are the new proximity-type that are waved near the door lock with no misfires; much easier to use than the older, magnetic "sliders."
Maintenance & housekeeping leave a lot to be desired. First impression: Push-bar on one of the lobby entrance doors was hanging by one screw; by morning, it had fallen completely off. It was dark when I arrived and when I flipped the switch inside the room door, no lights came on, so I had to stumble around in the dark to find a lamp, then fumble around to find the switch that turned it on. At first glance, the room seemed okay. The carpeting shown in the room photos has been replaced by junky vinyl planks, but inexplicably, the carpet wall-base was left in place. Unfortunately, it was peeling off the wall, with assorted chunks of crud caught in the gap. Painting was apparently done by middle-schoolers who were never taught about "cutting in" an edge, as the wall colors were slopped up on the popcorn ceiling and also on the floor below the bathroom door. In the tub/toilet room, the curved shower rod looked more like a smile than a bow, as it was coming loose from its anchors to the wall. Likewise, the tub faucet was loose. The toilet is one of those scary units that sounds like a jet engine firing up and would suck a cat into the sewer. The broken vanity outlet still supplied electricity, but I wouldn't get anywhere near it with wet hands. My canine traveling companion spilled water while she was drinking, so I used toilet paper to wipe up the spill. Glad I didn't use a towel because the TP came up black, telling me the floor hadn't been mopped, maybe ever! The bed base is apparently a fabricated sheet-metal box; when I sat on the edge of the bed, the sheet metal warped and set off a loud clang that sent my dog leaping toward the room door in terror. Ice machine? Broken. When I went to check out, I rang the bell loudly, as instructed by the little sign next to it. Nobody came, so I decided to use the room key deposit box outside. On it was taped a sign that read, "Please take room keys inside. We lost the key to this box.

staff is nice, very friendly.
I have stayed at this property many times, and I am not sure if management has changed, but the facilities are not as nice as they used to be. The rooms seem to be neglected, chipping paint not as clean looking. The landscape is overgrown not fresh and colorful like before.

Cleanliness was below expectations. Housekeeping was short staffed. Did not get my room cleaned.

It was the third time we have stayed there. We recently purchased a home in Gate City, Va. just six miles away. So the Red Roof Inn has been our base of operations so to speak. A shout out to Bobbi who prepares the wonderful continental breakfast during the week. She has a tremendous work ethic and does a wonderful job on the excellent breakfast.
We spent the day out at our new home getting things done for our move in end of the month. Tired from a long day, we returned to the hotel at around 4pm and house keeping had not cleaned our room. Not that big of a deal, we survived realizing some times things get missed.

This property is in a great location with lots of food & shopping and also not far from Bristol which was very nice.
When we first arrived ((after a 12 hour car ride from northern Michigan!!!!)) (at 4:30pm) we were told that our room was not ready - Check in starts at 3:00pm by the way - so we were told we needed to wait but they had “no idea” when the room would be ready. she simply told me it just wasn’t ready so then I had to ask, when will it be ready?- the employee literally told me and I quote “I honestly don’t even know when it’ll be ready, so I don’t really want to give you a time” “I might just have to clean it myself, it hasn’t even been touched yet”. *After driving halfway across the country in a car for 12 hours and paying $230 to stay at a hotel, that’s not something you want to hear.* so we left and returned after going out to eat…. when I got back I asked a different employee and she again said, “I don’t even think that room has been touched” she gave me the key and told me there was a 50/50 chance that it would be clean when I got up there. (it was upstairs by the way) so she expected me to walk upstairs with my family and all of our suitcases to just see if it had been cleaned yet……. the shower was dirty, there was hair all over the shower but luckily the beds were made with what appeared to be fresh linens. Before I went up to my room the two employees working the desk argued with each other (almost to the point of yelling) right in front of me about which rooms still needed to be cleaned….
