We always have a wonderful time at the Avon Cottages, it is in walking distance from most of the the local shops, short walk to the beach.. The sunsets are just as beautiful as the sunrises.. Had a great time!!

The beds need improvement but overall no other complaints..

grounds were I’ll kept and trash was lying around cottage is a stretch it’s a basic rustic maybe cabin not comfortable at all. it was clean as far as linens and bathroom but old very dirty carpet in bedroom should go. porch furniture was one chair and bench terribly uncomfortable. the price was quite high for such accommodations when it’s just a tiny place and without any really good features. the beaches are beautiful all up and down the outer banks and this is the only place we have had such a sad room.

Close to the beach, stores, pier

Everything was fine.

Room was clean, close to shops, food stores, restaurants.

The kitchen could used a few basics, dish soap, paper towels, ice trays. No maid service for 10 days, was able to exchange towels out, but sheets didn’t get changed, go to office for supplies like trash bags, toilet paper. The units are very old, but for the most part comfortable. I would not stay in the apts again as the people above us, next to us were very noisy, kids running on the floor til 11 at night.

The size of the room with the kitchen were nice.

Cockroaches killed at least two. Gross.

When we first walked in, it seemed clean. After walking around we saw cockroaches. I don't recommend staying here.

I liked having a kitchen

The bathroom was a little tight but doable.

Breakfast was not provided. Really quaint area .

The one bedroom cottage was on the second level which did not specify a choice between accessibility. Had to stay in motel, which was a very spacious efficiency. Met other guest who were very pleasant. The roadway/ parking area was very flooded could use some maintenance Outside trash did not have lids.

Great Location, kitchen amenities...extra pillows for the pullout couch..

The lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom may be the reason for the "moldy" smell...and lack of additional blankets for the pullout couch. Also, since there is a kitchen, there were no smoke alarm or real kitchen exhaust fan.

great area but beach access was hard to get to & you couldn’t see the ocean.

The water flowing in parking area when it rained so you couldn’t get in & out of car without getting soaked. no baking sheets

I have stayed here for many years, I love the accessibility to food and the beach. You can literally park here and not drive again until the day you leave. Everything is walking distance.

This place has went downhill in a hurry. I opened up the sink cabinet looking for pots and pans and found an overflowing pot of water underneath a leak in the pipes…moldy water.. There was caked up grease on the stove, just was not a clean feelings experience. Use to be better than this.

The cottage itself was far nicer than I was expecting for the price. The location was excellent as we were close to some of our favorite restaurants, and the beach was less than a 5 minute walk. Overall stunning.

The bathroom was a tad cramped which made it difficult to use as a couple's bathroom. The door handle for the front door was loose, but probably just needs replacing. The AC unit in the bedroom doesn't cool the entire unit, but this was not an issue during our stay as it was very cool.

Staff was very friendly and the room was nice

The parking was poor and the lane in front of the cottage and office had 6-8 inches of water over it the whole stay.

Highly recommend a stay with Avon Cottages. Oceanside location was perfect for the price. I booked for 6 nights and a storm with possible flooding was possible. Bea in the office notified me and gave me the option to leave a day early just in case I would be stuck there until the water receded. She gave be my day money back and was so professional. Thank you Bea !

Location and cleanliness

The bathroom was not great. The sink was located right in front of the door. So the opening was half the size. I am 5' 4" and could not see in the bathroom mirror because it was mounted so high. Also the shwoer head was very low. I could bearly stand under it. The lighting throughout the apt was inadequate. The window air unit in the bedroom was inefficient in cooling the kitchen/living area.
