The place is very clean and beautifully restored.
There is no breakfast. When I made my booking, the Black Mountain Inn was listed as a Bed and Breakfast.
My husband and I are seniors. The entrance to the hotel and the (20) stairs to the guest rooms are inconvenient. The walkway to the front door is gravel and there are concrete stairs leading to the front door. No ramp for suitcases, luggage has to be carried. The shower in our room was downright dangerous to climb into (claw foot tub, slippery surface without non-skid mat).
There are no amenities,(bring your own shampoo/conditioner/lotion). Small soap bars and a blow dryer are provided.
While the mattress is comfortable, the pillows were uncomfortably firm and thin.
No refrigerators in room, no TV. Since there is no breakfast, you can't buy anything ahead of time and keep it cool. And there are lovely small restaurants in town. You can't really sit in the room, there was only one chair.
TV was less of an issue, we were out exploring the area most of the day.

The shade on the bathroom window did not stay down. There seemed to be the slight smell of cigarette smoke throughout the house, but I saw no ash trays or any signs of cigarettes, so perhaps this was just the smell of a house “of a certain age”? Anyway, I was fascinated by the house!
A fresher smell. (It might be better in the summer?)

black mountain inn is a lovely B&B .. the inn reminds us of a favorite Atlanta b& b - Heartfield Manor
the rooms were warm .. however the InnKeeper did allow us to raise the windows

A wonderful old building. Nostalgic BnB.

The Booking.com advertised a full breakfast was included with the stay. Bed and BREAKFAST, however, there was only coffee served. Host stated this was a Booking.com error. Another B and B just down the street was at the same price but we choose this one for the uniqueness of the home. Should not be advertised as a B & B! Just a Bed....
The room did not have air-conditioning and opening the windows did not cool it off very much.

it was run down and not kept up. At one time it was probably pristine.
Not kept up. Not clean. our shower curtain was ripped and severe mildew.

The charm of historic home
Booking.com wrongfully states there is a full breakfast included, , on the host website this is not the case. Booking.com has failed to remove "breakfast included" at the hosts request

Both my husband and I can say we didn't like anything about our stay at the Black Mountain Inn. Although the town of Black Mountain is beautiful.
We stayed in Micheals room. We did not like the bed, I literally had to climb onto it as it was so high, and was also a full size which we are not used too. The room wasn't very clean, there were cobwebs in the bath tub and the rug looked like it had been there for a hundred years. We also found a couple of bugs found roaming around the room There was NO breakfast so it shouldn't be called a bed and breakfast. I know it's an old home but it needs a lot of attention and maintaining!! Be careful on the "steps" leading up the pathway!! I can see why they are NON-REFUNDABLE as everyone would want a refund!!

It’s a charming old building, and was located where we needed it to be.
The inn-keeper never answered the phone and was also unavailable upon arrival. We could hear someone watching TV, but they did not respond to knocks on the door. It felt strange to arrive to a giant, empty old house, with no one to great us. Also, our room was not ideal (especially the bathtub, which was peeling, small and unclean) but we couldn’t speak with anyone about switching rooms, even though there were many. Also, the so-called “breakfast” was a “continental” breakfast, at best.

It was a wonderful choice. The history was palpable in this place. We loved our visit in this historical spot. We loved the old white oak tree.
We felt a bit unsettled when we arrived to find no one else in the house and no idea about whether there was coffee for breakfast or what to expect. It was a bit disquieting, but we put it behind us and embraced the experience. We found muffins and yogurt and coffee and fresh fruit for breakfast and an apology from the ??hostess??. Overall, we are happy to have experienced this place. It would have been a bit better if we had not felt the eerie silence of an empty unfamiliar place upon arrival.

Staff was very friendly, the setting was nice and the location was perfect for what I needed. I'd definitely stay here again. The house was very charming, was cozy and felt homelike.
The code to get into the front door was bit confusing to start of with. But then I got the hang of it.

Comfortable bed. Nice setting. Refrigerator available for guests.
Skimpy breakfast. Somewhat noisy location.

A pleasantly quirky old building (historic stagecoach stop) with lots of character. Pleasant and accommodating host.
Awkward shower arrangement in our room. Also, it was not clear at time of booking that this establishment is NOT currently operating as a b and b. Bed only, no breakfast.

The property Is pretty and well kept.
For a B&B it just didn’t have a very personal feel. There wasn’t a breakfast at all. Or if there was we weren’t aware of it. The room needed better shades to keep light out and the fan made noise as woke us up. It was just ok.

This place is gorgeous! The rooms are all individually decorated with vintage furniture pieces and lots of beautiful little touches that were well thought out. Bathrooms have been upgraded but, retain their mid-century feel. Our hostess was gracious and we were delivered hot coffee and warm fresh muffins when we got up the next morning. The grounds are beautiful. This is a very quiet, serene place if you are seeking to escape the craziness of the modern world. Lovely!!!

The property was beautiful and very aesthetically pleasing. They have room options to fit multiple price points and space requirements. You have a nice view of the mountains on this quiet, peaceful location. The inn keepers were very kind and did a great job of making you feel at home there. The morning muffins and coffee were to die for. DOG FRIENDLY+++. It’s located within a few minutes of the town where the popular restaurants are and minutes from ‘lookout point’ where you can overlook the mountains. I don’t see myself staying anywhere else when visiting Black Mountain in the future. Thank you for a great stay.

Very quiet , off the road. The rooms are as shown. Furniture was antique. Bed was very comfortable and clean.
An ice machine would have been nice , maybe a bottle water in the from on arrival. Suggest more pillows . Would have like to know some history about the home.
Not a lot of staff interaction, so I cannot really rate staff.

They ruined my 4th of July getaway. DID NOT LIKE ANY PART OF THE STAY!
Unwelcoming and who could say if they were the host. Acted like we were a burden. Not like a B&B at all! More Air B&B then an inn. Told no breakfast gathering and would bring a basket to the door due to Covid. Yet they had no other precautions (no mask). Went down street to Locall restaurant that had no restrictions since the state had lifted them weeks ago. Most light bulbs burned out. No lighting in front of house for later arrival.

Was told we did not qualify for breakfast at our rate ($133 nonrefundable) but did receive basket in am with coffee and muffin.
No AC; no TV; light bulbs missing in ceiling fan/light (1out of 3 connections had bulb in it) and bulbs not working in each fixture (2) in bathroom (made it very dark to see in mirror to apply makeup, etc.); hard, flat pillows; skimpy toiletries. Would not recommend anyone stay here and would not return myself!
