The reason this is entitled "very relaxed holiday" is because the villa was exactly as described on the website and as described by previous reviewers. Also nothing was too much trouble if we needed anything. Although we havent any young children this villa would be ideal as there is plenty of garden space for playing (and safe). Found the kitchen ceramic top rather complicated and we had some unusual meals! which were still very nice. There is an Italian retaurant just up the road and just minutes away which was very reasonable considering the standard of food and the attention of staff, which we would thoroughly recommend. At the moment I cannot see us returning in the near future as I am awaiting an operation but maybe in the future.................? I would really recommend this villa.
Thank you, Karen, Ian and Chris from the Westlakes.

Villa Lorca
My family and I enjoyed a beautiful 2 weeks in Ian’s & Karens stunning villa!
They were both so helpful and assisted us no end when we experienced some issues regarding our hire car, which meant poor Karen had to be in the phone for 5 hours one day to translate everything to us! They couldn’t have done enough for us.
The villa itself is wonderful! The children loved the pool, hot tub and crazy golf pitch. A car is certainly an essential, as we ended up not having a car for the first part of the holiday, which probed doves difficult. But again, Karen and Ian gave us a lift to the large shopping centre about 10mins away so we could do a supermarket shop etc.
We couldn’t be more grateful! We hope to come back soon :)

Last Minute Holiday
We travelled from UK in our VW Camper van with our Labrador and Springer Spaniel we booked Villa Lorca as a break from the driving. Villa fabulous very secure for the doggies, with all the home comforts provided. The welcome pack was amazing with plenty of food everything from cooked chicken, eggs, bread, milk and juice, beer and wine - we only left the villa once in the week to top up wine and beer. Communication with hosts was great Ian called to check all OK on the first morning. All in all a great stay lovely to have a swimming pool to ourselves we will be back.

Home-from-home relaxing week in the sun
Villa Lorca was prepared beautifully for our stay by Karen & Ian - Thank You! It really was a home-from-home, equipped with just about anything you might possibly need for a relaxing week in the sun.
We loved the pool, the mini golf, the awning by the pool (so we could always find some shade), the lovely smelling bedding and towels, the air con, the huge fridge space (with filtered cold water and ice), the washing machine, the washing line, the little shaded seating area off the kitchen, the shaded parking area, the 3 bathrooms (all fabulously clean), the beach equipment (buckets, spades & umbrellas), the pool toys, the amazing welcome pack - which was super helpful after our flight was delayed and we arrived very late in the evening!
We enjoyed our visit to Lorca. The weather was glorious, we loved the beach at Calarreona (golden sand) as well as the promenade at Aguilas and Lorca Castle at 7pm - cooler and hardly anyone there, plus a great view at sunset!
We found the Carrefour in the shopping centre at Aguilas excellent (although there are plenty of shops nearer). We also enjoyed a nice meal at the restaurant down the road next to Pan Lorca (where you can get fresh bread every morning) . It was called La Fuente - with pizzas and pop all round for just 40 Euros for all 5 of us!

Amazing Villa
Karen and Ian, thank you both so much for the fantastic 14 days we have just had in your beautiful Villa! We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the pool, hot tub and well equipped kitchen! What a delight to be able to pick fresh fruit straight from the garden! In all our years of holidaying in Spain we have never felt so at home and so sad to leave. You have been by far the most welcoming hosts, and what about the welcome pack! Everything you could need , we didn’t need to go shopping until after the weekend which was a delight after our early morning flight. We hope to be back again, thank you both

Lovely Villa and Pool
We had a wonderful three weeks in this lovely villa. We had a very small issue but, Ian came out the next day and solved it. The best welcome pack we've ever had in any villa we have stayed in over the last 15 years, everything you could imagine from chicken, wine, beer and cheese to butter, bread, melon and bacon. We definitely had enough food for a day or two especially after a long journey! The cold filtered water and ice maker was an absolute bonus. Picking fresh oranges every day and lemons for our G&T sat by the most beautiful pool with great outside space!! Thank you Ian and Karen for being such great hosts :)

Hidden gem
Had a really enjoyable stay at the villa. All mod cons were at our disposal and no expense had been spared to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. While Lorca might be considered slightly off the 'beaten track' in terms of typical tourist destinations its a great base to get out and explore those parts of Spain often neglected.
Highly recommend a visit.

Great stay
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Lorca- the location was exactly right for us- quiet and secluded but still within walking distance to the local bar and restaurant and only 20min drive to the nearest beach.
The villa itself had a lovely feel- we instantly felt at home and the welcome pack meant we didn’t have to worry about shopping on the Sunday.
The facilities at villa Lorca were super, we used the hot tub every evening, the sun beds and poolside were great, giving us privacy and a lovely outside space.
We enjoyed eating in the outside dining room and had all of our meals there- again, perfect for what we wanted.
Ian and his son Chris were great and sorted out anything we needed to do with the house straight away.
The mini golf was a big hit(!) especially with the ‘boys’ (grown men!) who obviously had a Villa Lorca championship!
Overall an excellent stay and we have already recommended the villa to friends.
Thank you!

Great peaceful family break
The Villa delivers on the photos, and Ian and Chris were just terrific. We couldn't figure out one or two things, and one thing needed replacing, all of which they sorted in a day. They really went the extra mile providing a push chair for our three year old and the welcome pack was really good - useful things like shower gel, butter, bread, sandwich, pizza, juice, fruit, wine, beer... Great peaceful remote lo c action as described yet under 10 minutes to a massive complex that hosts a carrefore and whatever other shops you could want, with bowling. Beaches within 25 minutes, we liked playa de la higuerica best, again remote.but with limited services. Lovely pool, golf great fun, long evenings playing cards, loads of great stuff in the pool house to borrow like beach chairs and umbrellas and pool toys. Gas bbq was great. Loads of different places to sit and eat or drink so you could mix it up as to where you want if you didn't want to leave! Lots of sun beds, pool/beach towels, household items. Our next issue is when to book again.
This was our first villa in Spain but we have stayed extensively in Greece and France. Ian is the single most attentive host we have had the pleasure of meeting and Chris was very hands on, nothing seemed too much trouble. Karen was fantastic in terms of information. Brilliant villa. Even better hosts.

Amazing peaceful villa.
Superb villa, great host, so peaceful. Safe and quiet. Lovely pool. We were so lazy. Just going the short drive to the supermarket for more supplies. Such amazing value..... would go again even if it were twice the price.

AMAZING PROPERTY
October 9-19th.2017. This villa is probably one of the best we have ever stayed in. It really does have everything, including fresh fruit off the trees for your breakfast. The Pool is very large ( a bit cool-but it was October )..There are excellent cooking facilities., with numerous places to eat all over the property. We made use of the BBQ most evenings. and the Hot Tub was a big hit. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone. There were five adults in our party -plenty of room for everyone.. We made use of the little golf course. the library...and even some of the games that are stored. Thank You Karen & Ian - you have got this just right...... The town of Aguilas is about 15 minutes drive away, and the beach at Pulpi were our favourite spots in this area of Spain..

Superb Villa & Location
Had a fantastic stay at Villa Lorca. The villa has everything you need and more. The pool is a great size and pool area was a suntrap. The welcome pack was fantastic, a really nice touch. If you want to get away and chill, this is the place for you. Shops and amenities are closeby, if needed and nearby Lorca is a lovely town. The coast is 20 minutes away, Aguilas is lovely. It was great to stay in 'real Spain', the area has not been commercialised at all. Lastly, my gin won't taste the same now without the fresh lemon or lime picked straight from the villa garden! Fantastic.

Superb Villa - Couldn't ask for more
Back once again for a second year really says it all! Ian and Karen were incredible. Villa is modern and clean. Hot tub was such an added bonus. Spacious, modern, light and airy - a fantastic villa for whoever is lucky to get!

A fantastic well-equipped villa with friendly owners.
We love villa Lorca! It has everything you need from a decent sized pool to mini-golf. The owners go out of their way to help you and make sure you have a fantastic stay; Ian even sourced a guitar for us! The villa is safe for children being all on one level and the pool fence is a super safety feature too. In addition, the welcome pack is superb with enough food and drink to last for a couple of meals (perfect for the tired traveller!). We would wholeheartedly recommend this villa and look forward to visiting again.

Not quite as it seemstands...
It was a very modern villa and I can't fault the hosts on thier eagerness to try and please. Saying that, the villa advertises itself as disabled friendly but really is far from it. There is admittedly a very small step but still a step down into the bedrooms and the shower isn't really disabled friendly that and the doorways were too small. There were builders next door at the time which is unfortunate but couldn't be helped. There is a really nice pizza, well it's Italian but really is only good for its pizza's, restaurant down the road with lovely boys who greet you! It is advert in the welcome pack as La Fuenté but it hasn't been called that in years! Girgio's and Nicola's. It was a very well equipped villa just left a lot to be desired.

Great relaxing holiday at this villa.
This villa is in a rural location so a Spanish praise book would be idea but the locals would really try to understand you.
This villa is superb all mod cons the steam oven was challenging but we conquered it.
There's athe best bakery just down the road worth a visit on a Sunday morning for the cakes and the Sunday market for the cooked chicken and fresh fruit etc.
It was nice to go out the back door and pick the oranges and lemons to make fresh juices.
Driving to the villa from the airport was a pleasure because the road were great and we'll sign posted.
There is a very good shopping mall with in short drive towards Lorca, with a big Carefour supermarket and bowling alley plus resurants.
The castle in Lorca is well worth a visit plus some lovely beaches with in a 20 minute drive.
The most relaxing holiday I have had thanks Ian and Karren

Fabulous villa
This villa is amazing! It is situated in very peaceful location and it has every amenity that you could wish for. The villa is bright, spacious, modern and well equipped. The outside area is huge with plenty of seating situated so that you can get sun or shade all day long. The pool is just the right size and the hot tub is the icing on the cake!
We had a fantastic holiday and look forward to returning in the future.

Enjoyable week
Had a great time staying at this villa. Owner was very welcoming and had stocked the fridge ready for our arrival.
The villa is very peaceful but is a little remote; although there are plenty of shops within a short drive.
Really enjoyed our week and can recommend this villa for a relaxing getaway

Fabulous Villa, Brilliant Owners, Highly recommended!
I found this villa on Homeaway and it looked ideal for our family of 6. We were however pleasantly surprised on arrival. The villa was even more exquisite than expected. Ian and Karen could not do enough to help - and when my daughter was sick - they took time out to help us with a pharmacy and to sort it out.
Back to the villa - the pool and the house were kept immaculately clean. There are so many seating areas outdoors that we were spoils for choice. The gardens are a delight.
It is only 15 mins from fabulous beaches, and a local shop just 2 mins away.
We really felt spoilt throughout our stay - nothing was lacking.
We've booked in for next year - as this was so fab.
Thank you Ian & Karen for a delightful stay. We will be back!
Highly recommended.

Amazing property, perfect holiday
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this property. From booking to arrival Isn was incredibly helpful. The villa was immaculate with everything you could possibly want. We forgot to being our pushchair and Ian brought us one to use throughout our stay.
I cannot recommend this villa or its location enough. We have recommended it to our friends and family so expect some booking soon!

My daughter who lives in Lorca found this idyllic villa as the perfect place to spend Christmas. The villa was absolutely fabulously equipped and you couldn't wish for more - even the fridges were stocked! The only down side - there wasn't enough comfortable seating inside for 6 people and because it was Christmas it was too cold and dark to sit out in the evening.
2.5
We stayed at Villa Lorca for a week in August and could not have been happier. This is the fourth time that I have rented a villa through this website and Villa Lorca has been by far the best all round.
Karen and Ian have really thought of everything to make your stay as easy, pleasant and relaxing as possible. The villa has all the everyday things that you would usually have to run straight out and buy, such as washing up liquid, hand soap, paper towels etc. The owners also provide you with a generous food package on arrival which we were still getting through on the last day of our stay. My son has food allergies and Karen had even gone out of her way to trail the local supermarkets for gluten and dairy free products.
The villa itself is lovely and immaculately clean. The spacious grounds are beautifully maintained and very secure providing a great environment for kiddies to run around. My son is disabled and it gave me such piece of mind to know that he was completely safe to be outside without being supervised every minute of the day. Karen and Ian had even put up a pool fence for him. Between the pool, mini golf and the library of books they have we only ever left the villa twice for the supermarket and once to visit a local beach. We had a wonderfully lazy time!
Karen and Ian made themselves fully available throughout our entire stay and were accommodating in every way possible. My only complaint is that we didn't stay longer! Overall, 5 out of 5 and great value for money. Thanks Karen and Ian for helping to make our trip so enjoyable.
2.5
Met on arrival by owners Karen and Ian who gave us a very warm and friendly welcome. The welcome pack they provide more than covered our food (and drink!) needs for the first evening and breakfast the following day. What a great benefit not having to immediately charge off to the supermarket to stock up. The owners also provide shampoo and shower gel for each bathroom together with all the necessary cleaning items which again is a great benefit.
Wheelchair access to car port, mini golf, swimming pool, sun terrace. lounge, dining room and kitchen are all very easy. Unfortunately access to the master bedroom is not quite so easy, the sliding doors which give direct access from outside are slightly too narrow and the alternative route via the lounge involves negotiating a low step and narrow corridor. Once in the master bedroom there is plenty of room and the ensuite walk-in (or wheel-in!) shower is ideal.
Karen and Ian also met us one evening in Aguilas and showed is the ‘right’ bar for a drink located in the beautiful square and the ‘right’ promenade restaurant for dinner. We also took their advice and ate both lunch and dinner a couple of times at the local restaurant, Los Cazorlos, about 10 mins drive away. The lunchtime menu del dia is exceptional in choice and quality (and has an English translation). The evening a la carte menu is also very good. There is only a Spanish version of that menu and we had an hilarious time with the young waiter miming and drawing various items.
The villa is also well situated for easy access to the main roads up an down the coast and there are some great places to visit within about 50km.
We all really enjoyed our stay at Villa Lorca and give it generally a 5 star rating with a 4.5 star rating for wheelchair access indoors.

From booking to arrival Karen was very helpful and we all arrived to a very warm welcome and as others have commented on, a well stocked fridge! Karen also seems to have thought about all the things that people find missing in most rentals and has supplied them e.g pool towels, shampoo and shower gel, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. A really refreshing change not to have to go out and buy lots of basics that you will only use a portion of. Karen even supplied a local mobile phone in case we needed to contact her.
As previous reviewers have mentioned the villa is lovely and contemporary and everything from the bathrooms, fittings, towels and bedding are of high quality. The garden is secure and safe for children. The kitchen was well equiped and the American fridge with piped chilled water and ice was well used - really nice not to have to go and buy bottled water.
The pool and gardens were lovely with lots of different sitting areas to enjoy as the sun moved round. The pool was lovely and Karen and Ian had installed the pool fence so we did not need to worry about our grandson. Young and old also enjoyed playing mini golf!
We all enjoyed the oranges (fresh juice every morning) and the lemons for the G and Ts. Sitting outside for breakfast each morning was great with the lovely smell of orange blossom. A few good BBQs were also had.
We did not venture far as the weather and villa was super but did visit the Carolina beach, Cartogena (really interesting), Lorca and had a trip inland into the mountains. Also had a good menu of the day in the village at the Soller Restaurant (you need to speak some Spanish or have a good phrase book) and visited the Sunday market. The shopping centre on the way into Lorca was also good for food shopping at the Eroski Supermarket (10 min drive).
I could go on and on but suffice to say we all had a lovely time and would highly recommend. All sad to leave.
2.5
I arrived with my young family at Alicante Airport on a flight full of stag and hen parties bound for Benidorm. We headed south and fortunately the revellers headed north.
We love rural Spain and Villa Lorca was certainly amongst it. Villa Lorca is set amongst some beautiful orchards and vineyards and other properties well detached within their own boundaries. The local village of Purias is a 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) where you will find banks, bars and a small supermarket. There is a large brand new open-air shopping centre 10 minutes by car with some excellent shops and a large hypermarket for all your supplies. That said, you probably won't need anything for your first week as the 'welcome pack' will keep you well fed.
Karen and Ian are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Their sole aim is to ensure their guests are catered for their every need. The villa was spotlessly clean and the furnishings of a high standard. It was apparent Karen and Ian take great pride in their villa and are constantly thinking of ways and seeking feedback to improve it (to be honest there was nothing I can think of that needs improving!).
If you are looking for a relaxing 'get away from it all' holiday, this is the place for you. If you are looking for nightclubs and late nights, best head north out of Alicante Airport!
Thank you so much Karen & Ian, we look forward to visiting again.
2.5
From the moment you arrive and meet Karen and Ian to the moment you leave, you feel so welcome and relaxed. The owners have thought of almost everything from the welcome pack that lasted days to the activities for children young and old (me). They were always so helpful and on hand when required.
The villa and the amenities exceeded our expectations. The air-conditioning was so welcome after the days heat and the villa was very clean and modern. Our 2 children (son - 11 and daughter - 9) were never bored as there is so much to do, including swimming, table football, listening to music, watching videos/tv when too hot, golf, juicing oranges, backgammon, dominos and so on. Before arriving I was cynical about the mini-golf but we had so much fun making games up that we probably spent as much time with it as in the pool. There are many varieties of fruit trees so fresh figs, oranges and pomegranets made up our breakfasts most days.
You really need a car to get around but Lorca and Aguilas aren't far away and have some great resturants and quaint streets and shops to explore. The thing we most liked about the area was the lack of English tourists (and other nationalities too) because we like to immerse ourselves into the countries way of life.
We cannot comment on sight-seeing activities because the villa and surrounding area was so good we didn't need to travel to far.
The weather was very hot and dry with just half a day of rain in the 2 weeks we stayed. We didn't see any mosquitos or wasps and only a handful flies that meant eating outside was excellent.
We would like to thank Karen and Ian on their hospitality and the help they gave us, and will be coming again as soon as we can. I've already recommended the villa to my friends.
2.5
Thank you for letting us stay at Villa Lorca, a beautiful luxurious villa in a wonderful setting. It lived up to its description. We had a fantastic two weeks there and found the property well equipped to the highest standard and very clean, home from home. In the kitchen my favourite thing was the American fridge. It was heaven to have chilled water and ice on demand especially on hot days. It made such a change not to have to carry bottles of water from the supermarket. Everything you could possibly need is thoughtfully provided. Karen and Ian provide an excellent service starting from the moment we booked, corresponding by email. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and they were always on hand if needed. It’s comforting to know if there are any problems they are only a phone call away. The Welcome Pack was a nice touch and much appreciated after a long journey, it made us feel very special.
It was pure indulgence picking oranges off the trees in the garden and squeezing them for breakfast juice. Outside there is plenty of space, a lovely garden, sitting areas so it is always possible to get some shade when needed and an attractive pool to help you cool off. The mini golf course and football table were a big hit with all the family. There is a nice bar/restaurant in Purias within walking distance with helpful staff who speak perfect English.
We enjoyed a most relaxing family holiday in a peaceful location, playing games, unwinding, spending quality time together. We spent many evenings enjoying excellent barbeques sitting on the terrace watching the sun set, bliss!
We had a fantastic time and Villa Lorca is ideally placed to visit many historic places for sightseeing and pretty beaches are close by. We could not have asked for anymore in this gorgeous villa with stunning scenery, I cannot recommend Villa Lorca highly enough for an ideal family holiday. We could have stayed forever.

It was a truly budget flight that we managed to book to Murcia (many thanks Jet2) but it was a truly top-choice place that we stayed in while there. Ian and Karen’s Villa Lorca was all that we wished for during our eight-day break, and much more. Some recommendations about a holiday place are beguilingly positive… yet sometimes are as much a stranger to reality as a Walter Mitty remark. Thankfully, all the good things we’d read about this place were spot-on. Villa Lorca is a fresh, clean, modern-style villa in quiet rural surroundings but within easy reach of great bars, restaurants, and beach and sports facilities. Old Lorca and Aguilas are great places to spend time in. Forget your Murcia hotels and B&Bs. Villa Lorca in Purias is a much better alternative. All four of us had a great, thoroughly relaxing break and fully intend to return there for another holiday.

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 days in Villa Lorca and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Where to start!!
The villa was exactly as depicted and in a lovely rural setting, within minutes of a truly Spanish village.
Inside the villa was luxurious with a wonderful kitchen and sumptuous bathrooms. My favourite thing was the crisp white bedlinen and comfy beds after a hard day holidaying!
In the mornings we all enjoyed our freshly picked oranges for breakfast and our lemons for pre-dinner drinks. We even managed to bbq and to eat al fresco in the shaded patio.
Outside was perfect for relaxing with a book in the shade or sunbathing by the pool. The pool fence meant that we could totally relax whilst our 3 year old daughter was playing. She especially enjoyed all the pool toys and even had a go at the mini golf - at least 5 times a day!
Villa Lorca has been the best villa that we have stayed in and comes highly recommended. It has also been the best villa holiday for us as a family with a small child. We enjoyed staying in such a peaceful location within easy drives of some special beaches and authentic Spanish restaurants and bars. As the weather was so good we didn't do too much sight-seeing but we did visit Cartagena and spent a great day walking around the Roman ruins. Our daughter especially enjoyed seeing the resident peacocks and playing on the swings, with a sky line view over the city.
Lastly, our hosts, Ian and Karen made our stay very special. Their attention to detail was second to none and they were thoroughly professional yet friendly. Having arrived at 10pm at night, tired and hungry, we were welcomed by Karen and Ian and a full fridge of goodies which we promptly devoured! Throughout our stay they were always on hand if needed and nothing was too much trouble.
We are already planning our next trip and have arrived home with many happy memories of our time in Villa Lorca.
Muchisimas gracias!

We had a fantastic week staying at Villa Lorca. Karen and Ian couldn't have been more welcoming and considerate. The villa was as lovely as it looks in the pictures, immaculately clean and very well equipped; even with espresso machine, and electric juicer for all the oranges, lemons, pomegranate's in the garden. We were also surprised, and delighted, with the welcome pack; which meant that after a four hour drive we didn't have to rush out and to find a supermarket. We sat in the sunshine, by the pool, sipping cava while our 3 small daughters splashed around in the pool. The area was lovely, with beaches, historical sights and countryside all within 20 minutes by car at the most. The local bar, 5 minutes walk away, has lovely food and great staff. We'd love to return, and would definitely recommend Villa Lorca to friends and family.
