The location was perfect. If your intention is to spend time in Old Town Warrenton you may not find a better location to stay. I had a really nice time and would certainly stay again.

It’s a lovely old house with an interesting history and pretty grounds.

We were staying during the strange time of Covid at the end of July, but even making allowances for that, we felt that the place had an abandoned feeling to it. There are some important repairs that need to be made (a dangerously wobbly banister). We also felt that charging full price when you can’t offer the services you normally can, is taking advantage of people. We stayed two nights and were given vouchers for $10 a couple per day for breakfast.

The building and grounds are beautiful. I think during non-COVID times, our stay would have been nicer. The building is on a very pretty street and is a short walk from a few food options downtown. The interior is well-kept and still has many objects inside that give it a lot of character.

When we arrived, there was no one to greet us. A note posted at the door said we should have received an email with a PIN for the door, which we hadn't. There was a Ring doorbell and a posted phone number, both of which didn't immediately connect us to anyone. After multiple tries and more than 20 minutes of trying different entrances and waiting around just out of the rain, we finally got a text with the PIN so we never actually spoke with anyone. There was a welcome packet waiting for us and that was when we found out they are not offering breakfast right now. Instead, they offer a $7.50 voucher for a few nearby restaurants, which we weren't interested in going to and left in the lobby for other guests. (Their Booking profile still says they offer an American breakfast.) Our Hearst "suite" was not a suite in the sense I think of it. It's two separate bedrooms connected by a bathroom in kind of a U-shape. The bedrooms do not connect to each other, so it doesn't feel like you have more space. Each bedroom was rather small and not worth the $220/night price tag. The hot tub was not easily accessible from our room so we didn't use it. Overall, we see the potential of the place but it doesn't currently fulfill the usual charm of a B&B--zero human interaction and no breakfast--and we were left disappointed.

Wife and I traveled there for the day and spent at least an hour on grounds just looking at some serious history. The stories those walls could tell. Wonderful absolutely going back
