The location was fantastic. We were able to travel all over the northern coast line very easily. And we loved heading back on the dark roads to the secluded, mellow area where the lodge is. We liked how we were able to pick the fruit of the property as well, and coffee is provided if you’d like to make it, and they have an outdoor kitchen set up if you would like to cook your own food.
The bathroom at a very odd smell during our stay. To the eye it was clean, but it smelled like the toilet was leaking, and during our Four night stay the hand towel was never replaced, even though there were other patrons staying in the hostel type setting. The bedroom we slept in had a comfortable bed and a fan was provided but my cousin bruised her shins multiple times due to very large clamps that stuck out from holding the bed frame together at the corners. The house, as advertised, is incredibly old, so when they explain that their family is upstairs, this is something to be wary of. evenings and mornings are very loud, much louder than anticipated, though we were in the location for exploring rather than lounging and relaxing at the lodge, so we weren’t too bothered - just something to take into consideration if you would be.

It was a nice property. Greg is a nice manager who has got things ready
He should repair the screen windows because I found mosquitos in the bathroom.

Really like the outdoor kitchen area with an ocean view.
Didn’t realize when I booked that there was a shared bathroom, but there were no issues and the bathroom was clean.

This is a private home on the first floor where they've converted the cellar into three rooms with a shared bathroom with a common room. The beds are comfortable. We had the entire place to ourselves. The view from the outside tent area is incredible!
We could not find the remote for the TV. Not that we cared about watching TV... it would have been a distraction from all the great books they had available to peruse. The ventilation in the room was not great. Expect to hear the kids upstairs romping around before bedtime. We didn't mind, but some may. It ceased at 8:00pm so no big deal.

What an amazing stay! The location is perfect for exploring the north of the island. Greg the host was very nice and helpful. Beautiful views of the ocean in a peaceful setting. The outdoor kitchen was great for cooking meals with a view. I will definitely stay here again if I come back!

it was a nice location and you could pick mandarines in the garden which was great.
but the house was very noisy. the owner was living above us and when his family woke up we were immediate awake. then an hour later our neighbours complained about out suns. they would have been noisy… so we left earlier than planned. the tents outside in the garden looked great. would rather stay there

The location was what I'd consider remote for the Big Island but if you are visiting the Waipo Valley or overlook, this is a wonderful place to stay. It is on the lower level of the proprietors home. I did notice that they had some very large, deluxe style tents with actual wood floors that overlook the spectacular Pacific Ocean. There were fresh bananas and macadamia nuts and other fruits as well available for the taking.
You could hear the family on the second floor and when they turned on their faucet (not sure if it was a shower, tub, sink) but it was pretty loud. Also people walking around upstairs... but it was only mildly uncomfortable.

This is a beautiful place in a great location! The gardens are nice, view of the ocean splendid, and the nights dark and quiet. The set-up was straightforward and simple but there are lots of nice bonuses (microwave, stove to cook on, large fridge, coffeemaker), and I liked the interesting history of the farm.

The location is great to see Waipio lookout (access to the valley was closed when we stayed, though). The place is big enough, owner very friendly and helpful, free macadamia nuts 😋 and other fruits in the property. Sky was stunning with the milky way above us!
We killed a couple of cockroaches, wandering my backpack in the bedroom and in the living room as well. Walls are thin.

The rooms are very clean & beds are very comfortable. (best beds in my 7th day trip in Hawaii so far)
The showers are great.
We also like the kitchen in the outside yard, not in the house. So I don’t have to worry that I disturb other tenants.
There are a couple of cockroaches which scare me a little bit. And I think they are there because it’s an old house or due to the environment in Big island. The rooms are very clean.

The accomodation is almost at the end of the road that takes to the Waipio Valley lookout. It's very quiet and has a very nice garden. The room was clean and comfy, same for the bathroom. Our host gave us a very appreciated welcome and some useful information for dinner and about the Waipio Valley. Great value for money.
