Staff friendly, breakfast good, terrace was nice.

The location was not good. The uber cars did not want to pick up or drop off there. Many times I had to walk up myself or pay extra for a motorbike guy to give me a ride. They were not there at night, so then I walked alone which is not 100% safe. This is not the hotels fault, but I also had a hard time getting any time in the shared bathroom. There was a french group in the shared bunk bed room and they had their morning routine, afternoon routine and night routine where everyone was going in one after another.

Excellent hosts. Took care of all our needs and had a great view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks from the Roof top.

The room was spotless clean and the hostel is in a quite area, only 5 minutes away from the Copacabana beach. One highlight was the breakfast: additional to the usual cheese, ham, jam, and juice, they serve freshly baked bread, a lot of fruits, Pancakes, and fried eggs on request. Furthermore, we had salmon occasionally. The owner family speaks Portuguese, German, and English fluently. All of them were super friendly and very accommodating. Even though the Casa is in a Favela, don’t worry, it is super safe and we felt more comfortable walking around there than in the city center of Rio.

The staff were friendly and the facility had aircon and was fairly close to Copacabana beach. In addition, the breakfast each morning was bread and meats/cheese that I could make a little sandwich each morning.

The wifi didn't reach my bedroom on the main level, so I had to go to the second floor or roof to get a signal. This was a little inconvenient at times, since I rely heavily on the internet when travelling to contact people and research places during the trip. (The wifi issue likely isn't an issue for bedrooms on the upper levels.) The only other thing that people need to be aware of is the location is on the side of the hill so it can be a 10-15 minute walk up a steep hill (paved road). There are motor bikes that will take you up for like 4 reals I think waiting at the bottom, as some walked and others took rides.
