We had a great time at the villa, great views all round. Villa was nice and cool inside, and the pool was great. Peter met us at the Villa and check in and check out were straight forward

The house has an odd name-Hole in the Wall, but when you arrive, you understand the reason. The streets in the small town of Orgiva are small, maybe one car width wide and require vigilance and occasionaly reverse to negotiate. The house is set in what was probably a households farm plot at one time. There is a beautiful view of the Sierra San Lugar to the south from an expansive covered patio and to the north, a view of the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada with views of a couple of the "white villages" and the Poquiera gorge. We found the home delightful with the pool and surrounding orchards of olives, almonds, pomegranates, loquat, figs and oranges. The location is very private and the sound of the goat bells, roosters and burros in the distance in the morning while you enjoy your coffee on the back patio while watching the sun play on the mountains is something to behold. In the evening, the view with a wine or cocktail is just as beautiful. As we were here in late spring, the sunny days were warm but the breeze from the mountains kept the place cool and comfortable and the shade from patio was great. When it got warm enough, the pool was available and drying off in a chaise under the olive trees was quite pleasant. Peter and his wife Carolyn were great hosts and had we needed it, would have responded with any requests or assistance. Overall, we had a great time there and recommend it to any one wishing a lovely time in sunny (most of the time) southern Spain

Lovely place, very peaceful, comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the veranda for morning coffee and meals with great view of mountains. House has all the amenities you need. Great cat - the house has its own cat who is quite the friendliest cat ever. Superb host - Peter was more than helpful, meeting us late at night as our schedule meant we were very late. He was also incredibly helpful is assisting with a minor issue we had. All in all thoroughly recommended

This is an extremely comfortable, well equipped home in a quiet location at the end of a narrow lane around 15 minutes' walk into town. The house has everything you will need, including comfortable beds, washing machine, dish washer, loads of fridge and freezer space and a lovely terrace with beautiful views through the olive trees to the Sierras beyond, where we spent most of our time. The pool isn't massive but it's all you need to cool off. There is also an extensive collection of books and CDs. Richard the property owner is very helpful, should you need him. Expect regular visits from Jojo the cat, a handsome and extremely friendly lad who likes the occasional treat and lots of love. We have been to Orgiva before and this was our first time at this property, but we definitely hope to return.

We loved our stay here at the villa and Origva. The villa is a quiet hideaway down a bumpy little track, surrounded by olive trees and mountain views. It takes just under 15 mins to walk into the town and is an easy walk if you are in good health. The pool area is lovely and the breeze very welcome! Good shaded area too. Peter was a great host full of useful info too. He is always on hand if there are any issues. The town of Origva is quirky and has some great health food shops, patisseries, food market (Thursdays) large super market but also lots of small ones too. We recommend eating at Baraka, an Arabic/international cuisine with the most incredible vegetarian dishes! Also Pizza Love is great and the cafe/ restaurant in the square is perfect for coffee, tostados and watching the world go by! There is also a lovely little market in the square selling alternative clothing/drums/jewellry etc The Alhambra De Granada was an hour away and the beaches 30 mins. There are some nice walks locally too but depends on heat. The village of Soportuja was interesting too and looks a bit like Halloween all year round, we recommend walking up through the village below as the parking looked challenging! The village of Lanjaron is only 15 mins away, its a spa town with a great walk up to the castle and lots of cafe, restaurants and shops. We recommend the villa and Orgiva if you enjoy off the beaten track and alternative lifestyle away from crowds. We will defintley be returning

The house is a little bit off-the-grid (though you can go shopping for groceries by walking roughly 10 minutes) and the road is a quite adventurous, but you'll get used to it. We loved the patio, the pool and had a very, very good and relaxed time which we enjoyed to the fullest. If you are looking for a house which is peaceful and quiet you should definitely stay here. The cat which accompanies you is a wonderful addition, he made our stay so much lovelier and relaxed by our side every morning and evening. Everything else was fine too, the garden is lovely and the house has its own, unique, style.

Nous avons passé deux semaines dans un endroit charmant et ensoleillé, à l'abri des regards indiscrets et en même temps proche du village d'Orgiva et de ses commodités. La maison est très bien équipée, notamment pour ce qui est de la cuisine. La propriété permet de se reposer de plusieurs manières, autour de la maison, près de la piscine, à l'abri des oliviers, sous la pergola. Le parking privé et ombragé est un plus. La piscine est assez grande et la filtration efficace. Un séjour parfait, merci aussi à Peter pour sa disponibilité et ses conseils.

La casa es perfecta. Cómoda, piscina y jardín con olivos enorme. Sin ruido ni contaminación lumínica durante la noche. El dueño (Peter), es súper atento y siempre está disponible para ayudarte si lo necesitas. En fin, la palabra es PERFECTO.

The stay was excellent, it is a very quiet place, it is ideal to disconnect, the pool always with fresh water all the time is ideal in summer. My children were delighted. The starry night is a spectacle in itself. The house is well equipped and has a very interesting library of books and very good music records that are also available. The owner, Peter, was always available and always made sure that we had a good time. We went without a car but it was not a big complication, the town is a 15-minute walk away, but it is recommended to travel by car. We will surely repeat. Peter, thank you very much for everything, it was a pleasure meeting you and for the possibility of enjoying your home.

Nothing to complain about. Peter very helpful, house in great spot. Dip in the pool followed by evenings on the Veranda were a joy. As was visiting the out lying villages like Capiliera. Great place to explore the Sierra Navarda from, if you like cycling/walking.

Superb region, superb house, total privacy...perfect stay at orgiva...we hope to have another stay in the future at this place.

Quite simple, perfect!

We have just returned from a lovely week in the Alpujarra region of Spain. The house was clean & comfortable with a beautiful garden from which you could sit or swim and look at the mountains through olive & orange trees. Peter was very helpful on arrival but we did not need to trouble him thereafter as everything we need was available. It is a great area to explore. We visited the Alhambra in Granada (booked on line 3 months before), walked through wild flowers, olive & almond groves in the Alpujarra & went up through pretty white villages to the Sierra Nevada. Orgiva itself is a working town with supermarkets, plenty of places to get a coffee, glass of wine or dinner and a Thursday market. We could easily have stayed longer. Thank you for a great week.

This is probably the nicest house we have stayed in over the 10 years we have been visiting family in Orgiva - clean and comfortable with beautifully kept gardens. However, as we are over 70 years of age, albeit fit and healthy, a car was a necessity to get into town and back. Definitely not an easy 10 minute walk! A few basic food supplies (as supplied in other houses we have stayed in) would have been a thoughtful gesture after a tiring 10 hour journey.

This is a lovely house with a great garden. The house is just right for 4 people - plenty of space, and the garden is really lovely, big with lots of fruit trees, very well kept and very private. A previous reviewer mentioned the pool was smaller than expected, but we found it to be fine - just what you’d expect for a house this size, and perfectly adequate for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. Peter the owner is friendly and helpful and is just down the road if any help is needed. Orgiva town centre is about 10-15 minutes’ walk away down some rustic lanes/tracks and the walk shouldn’t be a problem for anyone who’s reasonably fit. Orgiva has plenty of restaurants and 3 or 4 supermarkets with pretty much everything you’d need for a couple of weeks. A great place which we’d certainly like to return to.

Just right for a week climbing and walking. We went in the Easter holidays. The weather was warm and sunny. The area is great for sport climbing which was our main reason for coming. Órgiva has a laid back vibe, with friendly locals and hippy travellers. Our house was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the terrace overlooking the mountains. It was just about hot enough to leap into the pool. We were visited by the owners cat Jo-Jo who is an affectionate and lovable cat who we loved stroking and chatting to. Peter, the owner met us on arrival. He is also laid back and friendly. He has a great sound system and lots of CDs so we were able to listen to music when sitting out on the terrace. As the house is the at the end of the lane you can turn up the tunes without disturbing anyone. Great! We loved the privacy of the house and it’s location. Rural but a short walk into town. Ideal.

This property is in a fantastic location. Peaceful private gardens with pool, yet only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Orgiva. The views from all sides of the property are wonderful - we enjoyed watching the sunset with a glass of wine from the terrace. The large private garden was very pleasant for sunbathing and swimming in the pool and was very peaceful and relaxing. It is ideally situated for all the mountain villages where most of the walking in the area starts from. We would certainly stay here again if re-visiting this area. Peter the owner was very friendly and went out of his way to make us feel very much at home and has local knowledge which can be very useful when planning trips around the area.

Its in a private location but close to Orgiva town, which was convenient, although the drive from the town to the house is a little bit tricky - single lane track with some tight corners. Fine once you get used to it!The gardens and outside space are wonderful, with fruit and olive trees around you. The pool was a really enjoyable area and perfect for the hot summer days! Peter cleaned the pool weekly and its very well maintained. The views of the mountains are incredible. Waking up to those views every morning was a real treat. We were looking for somewhere private and relaxing, and this property gave us just what we were looking for.Peter was great - very friendly and helpful. The only less positive thing for us was we found the double bed uncomfortable and both woke with painful backs. Peter said this was a new mattress, and it clearly was, but we struggled with the comfort level of the bed for a few nights (probably used to a softer mattress) before deciding to use the single beds in the second room instead. They were really comfortable! Jojo the cat was a regular visitor - we're not cat people, though he was quite cute!Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely return.

Lovely property with everything you could wish for. Villa is really well equipped and maintained. Had a great couple of weeks, very relaxing. Away from it all but still close to Orgiva. Enjoyed a few meals out, our favourites were Baraka, La Almazara and Pizza 'N' Love, really nice and good value. Thank you Peter for all your recommendations. Had a great time exploring the mountain villages and Granada. Wish we could have stay longer.

Just back from a 2 week escape (stay) at this Villa.  It will be hard to forget the view we had with Sierra Nevada on one side and the Apajurras on the other.  The clear skies at night (as not in the town centre) gave us an amazing view of so many stars! This villa had everything we needed and more for our stay.  The Owners were very friendly and offered advice on places to visit when asked, but really they just left us alone to enjoy our family holiday.  The kids loved the pool and garden which allowed them to be loud enough to have fun but not be too loud that would have disturbed anyone.  JoJo the cat was also very popular with her frequent visits. The villa is a short walk/drive from Orgiva town which has a number of shops and restaurants.  The market in town is okay for a lazy wander around on a Thursday, however, the Friday market in Almuñécar, approx. 30 mins drive away, has more on offer.  Also, in Almuñécar is good water park if you have kids to entertain.  The Villa is about 25 mins from the seaside. All the family loved this place so much, I’m sure we’ll be back again sometime.

We just returned from a week staying in Orgiva at this property and we had a lovely time. Peter met us in town as we arrived quite late in the evening and helped us find our way to his property. Everything was as described in his posting and he even bought us some provisions that helped us have a breakfast on the first morning. Peter returned the next day and showed us over the property, helped us understand how to use the Cappucino maker while we were more awake as we had arrived very late. He even helped us move furniture to where we wanted it. We had a great stay - the children loved the gardens, the outdoor terrace area is lovely and everything worked well. Overall we can post very few complaints but here are a few things to bear in mind if you choose to rent this property and are the reasons we rated 3 and not 5 stars 1. This is the owners main home and it is not rented 'empty' - we found it to be a little cluttered for a rental property 2. The place was quite dusty when we arrived and we had to ask for some extra cleaning to be done 3. The swimming pool is not large at all - it is very nice / clean and well maintained but you will swim a length in 3-5 strokes. There is a large public pool that is walking distance from the property by the way. 4. The barbecue is a large old gas barbecue into which you need to add your own charcoal - in result you will use a lot more charcoal than you would if you were using a purpose built charcoal grill......a quick trip to the local B&Q would fix this ! 5. Orgiva is "eclectic" and somewhat scruffy - this view was substantiated by the visit we made to Lanjaron (the next town) which is far prettier Overall a lovely location and a nice rental and we do recommend it but bear the above points in mind when renting

What a find!! Peter met us and took us to the property. We were wowed from the moment we arrived!! Position is great, quiet location but easy access to the village. We ate in La Almazara and Pizza restaurant in the central square twice, both very good and very cheap compared to uk. Facilities at 'The hole in the wall' are the best we have had in over 7 years in various places through central Europe!! Plenty of shaded areas throughout the day/eve. Patio is divine listening to a great selection of music slurping a drink or two. The pool was lovely, infact there was nothing more we could have asked for at this gem. We travelled in all directions during our week, and the beauty of the area with mountains all around us was better than ever we could have imagined. We are already planning a return visit so we can go up to Granada. Advance planning is needed to get tickets booked for the Alhambra Palace to avoid not being able to get in. The villa was as good as the reviews we had read before our booking. This property is the owner’s main residence in winter and proved a cosy retreat. It is well equipped, clean and tidy, and importantly it is very private. Access is down a track – which is not uncommon in this region – but the track is made of concrete, whereas many others are unmade. Once we got our bearings, it proved an easy walk into town to get provisions or grab a coffee. There are good seating areas outside, one by the pool and two areas in the rear porch, with great mountain views to take in when enjoying a meal or evening drinks. The large, well maintained gardens complement the surroundings and enjoy secure high fencing giving you peace of mind if you have children - our kids loved exploring. The bedrooms are spacious enough and cool - when the shutters are used. One bedroom is accessed via the rear porch - which is highlighted. The beds were very comfortable - something that we feel lets many other rental properties down. This was our first time visiting this region of Spain and the location of the property proved ideal for reaching the coast, the lovely mountain villages and Granada. The owner is friendly, helpful and was always on call if you need him.

A lovely tranquil spot, beautiful pool and garden, charming and well equipped property, very friendly and helpful owner. A bit 'off road' to get there but well worth it! Would recommend to others looking for peace and relaxation.

The villa is a real home from home - well equipped and comfortable. The views of the mountains are breathtaking! There is lots to do in the area or it is nice to just relax on the terrace area or in the pool. It is completely private yet only a 10 minute walk to town with bars and restaurants but bring a torch for the walk home

This is easily the nicest villa we have ever stayed in and we really did not want to leave. The rooms are bright, airy and spacious and remain fairly cool during the heat of the day. The pool isn't huge but it's big enough for a nice cooling swim. Unless you want to swim training lengths it is totally fine. The gardens surrounding the house are well laid out and maintained. This is the owners' main home and they move into town when the place is rented so it is very well equipped with everything you need especially in the kitchen. It also feels like a home and not like a place for renting out. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and some basic supplies to get us started. The English owner met us in town when we arrived and we followed him to the villa. He showed us around and gave us all the information we needed and answered our questions about the area. He is very friendly but also happy to leave you to enjoy your holiday. There is a cat who pops around every now and again and is very friendly but he is an outdoor cat really. The owner left us food so we fed him whenever he appeared. He's really no bother.
