Chateau With Swimming Pool, Hot Tub and Sauna

This was a brilliant place to stay, we celebrated Christmas here with our English/Belgian family, easy to get to for everyone, spacious for our 10-strong group, a Christmas tree was present, felt very family-friendly.

The moment we pulled outside the electric gates, drove into the sweeping driveway, we knew that this holiday was going to deliver on every level of luxury and comfort. The property oozes grandeur. Wendy and Marcus were waiting to offer a very warm welcome and made us feel at home straight away. Chateau Dohem is decorated and finished with outstanding flair and detail. The kitchen is well stocked, with every utensil imaginable available for any self-catering group. There is plenty of space in the property, affording privacy for all. We would highly recommend this property to anyone.

My family and I stayed at Chateau Dohem the 4th-18th August 2018 and enjoyed one of the best holidays we have had
Each year we take a large house usually in France and sometimes in the UK
We are a family of eight adults (30-70 years old) and four children (7-15 years old)
This year I decided to avoid a lengthy drive through France at the busiest holiday time and to stay not too far from Calais
It was great. The chateau was extremely well appointed and had all the facilities we could ask for. The children (and adults) loved the large swimming pool
The first week we had sunshine and so we didn’t stray far from the Pas de Calais region
The second week we had some cloud and on a couple of days occasional rain but this didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves as Bruges was not too far away as was Lille.
I was surprised how much there was to do in the area from boats on the Audomarois Marshes, the Blockhause and La Coupole , massive bunkers built by the Germans using forced labour for the manufacture and launch of V2 rockets and many other sights associated with the two world wars
I would recommend both the chateau and the region for a family or group holiday

The property is stunning and it is in a beautiful place
Whilst all the facilities as promised were on site we all felt that the property was short of real care and maintenance.
1. The decking area was in very poor conditions and our children suffered 5 splinters during the 2 weeks.
2. The kitchen was very poorly organised with various sets of cutlery and glasses but no consistency of type or quality.
3. The cooker door did not close properly and was dangerous when cooking.
4. The oven top use was very poor to control and use
5. The sink in the kitchen was constantly blocking due to poor drainage connections
6. Some of the items in the pantry were out of date by up to 3years and I would consider them to be unsafe.
Whilst all of the above caused concern we had a wonderful holiday and it is a wonderful property, however if it is to sustain its 5 star status better organisation and maintenance needs to be provided very quickly

Arrived at the entrance gate and were blown away by the view of the chateau which greeted us. It looks more impressive in real life than the pictures online. The chateau has been lovingly restored and every room is impressive, clean and comfortable.
Wendy is a very welcoming host and the facilities offered here far exceed those we have experienced before in France.
Wendy provides a welcome food pack and the kitchen is well stocked, including a pantry filled with wine, soft drinks, tins, packets etc to help prepare tasty meals. We just replaced what we used.
The outdoor space is enormous, gets the sun all day long and provides ample room to relax or party and we made lots of use of the hot tub, pool and barbecue despite sometimes inclement weather.
The location of the chateau is very rural with beautiful views over the countryside and farmland. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay, however, you are not far from bigger towns and good places to explore. We would recommend visiting the restaurant Auberge in the village of Fauquembergues, a 10 minute drive away. We had a fabulous long lazy lunch and the staff were very friendly.
We will definitely look to return to this lovely place and would thoroughly recommend it to others. We have very happy memories of our week here.

Beautiful Chateau
Glorious Chateau sleeping 12 people comfortably. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property. Felt at home the minute we stepped in. Swimming pool, gym and pool table well used by the children in our group. Rooms beautifully decorated and kitchen well stocked with equipment. Would definitely recommend.

The perfect setting for an amazing NYE!
I stayed in this amazing chateau over New Years Eve last year (2016) with 11 friends, 2 babies and a dog! It was the most perfect setting for a fabulous weekend with something that suited everyone's needs. The sauna and hot tub were amazing, the kitchen really well equipped, a lovely dining room for meals and a really comfy sitting room for chilling out and watching films.
We loved it so much we're planning on returning this year.
Thanks again!

Arriving at the gates you are immediately impressed at the first sight of the chateau. As you are shown around the interior the experience only gets better. This is the perfect venue for a family holiday. We visited with our 4 daughters, their partners and 2 grandchildren. There is plenty of space for everyone . The kitchen facilities are first class and there are gas and charcoal barbecues for outside cooking. Wendy is a wonderful host and was extremely generous with the provisions left by her which included wine and beer. The chateau is spotless both inside and outside with heated swimming pool. Plenty of basic things like towels. Our overriding impression is hat Wendy concentrates on ensuring that her guests thoroughly enjoy their stay and get value for money. Nothing is too much trouble for her and indeed when we left a part from our hire car Wendy arranged to return it to CDG airport for us. Absolutely no complaints about this accommodation and we are looking forward to a return

I booked the chateau for a special family celebration based on the website presentation, but I had one reservation (no pun intended!). The property looked so luxurious I was concerned that the family (3 generations with an age range of 64 to 16 months) might not be able to relax for fear of damaging some of the pristine furnishings.
That concern was immediately dispelled on arrival when we were given a very warm welcome from Wendy who stressed that the property was there to be enjoyed. On exploring the property we found it had that rare combination - an air of luxury and a homely ambience. The furnishings and contents were in excellent condition but looked to have been chosen for their practicality, almost as if to ensure that guests would not be afraid to use them.
Talking of the contents, it was almost as if the property was regularly used by the owners who had simply vacated the place to let us stay for a while. The generously stocked kitchen, the overflowing larder, the utility area with reserves for months, the games, the DVDs, the CDs, the library - all at our disposal. If we had known what provisions there would be on arrival we would not have worried about stopping off at a supermarket en route, and there seemed to be no expectation or obligation (apart from one's own conscience) to replace what was used. (And no delay in refunding the deposit, despite one or two breakages having been reported.)
The facilities are first-class, with the pool being a great hit. The house was easily large enough to cater for 6 adults and 5 children and the general consensus of the whole family was that we could not have found a better venue for our purpose. I have no hesitation in recommending it, nor in commending Wendy for her handling of all of the arrangements.

Amazing place
Where to begin! First of all the size - lots of doors leading to lots of rooms. So much space just for us! The chateau is beautifully decorated throughout with great style and attention to detail, each room having a special character of its own. The very large kitchen has everything you could wish for and we appreciated the very generous welcome pack. We ate in four different places - in the kitchen, on the sunny terrace outside the kitchen, on the terrace overlooking the pool and in the lovely dining room. Our party consisted of all ages and there was something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the pool, hot tub and games room. On our last night we had a pool tournament. A highlight was sitting in the hot tub with a glass of champagne watching the beautiful sunset.
We visited Le Touquet with its lovely large sandy beach and St Omer where we spent an enjoyable afternoon in the park. Our best day out was a visit to Dennlys Theme Park. It is not too big (about 30 rides) but there is enough to satisfy all members of the family, from the little ones right up to the teenagers and braver adults! A great day out for all the family and not too expensive.
However, we were always happy to get "home". So much to do and so little time - the week flew past.
Thank you Wendy. We will have lovely memories of a wonderful holiday we spent in your beautiful chateau.

Amazing Place
3 families with 6 kids amongst us stayed here for a week in May. We had a fantastic time. The house is just beautiful and really well decorated, but incredibly comfortable and homely at the same time. All the facilities were great. The swimming pool was a big hit with the kids and we got a couple of days playing in the pool. The house was big enough that we never felt we were getting on top of one another. The kitchen has everything you could possible need. The pool room, gym, sauna and hot tub were also fab additions.
There is also plenty to do in the surrounding area. Agincourt is great for an afternoon, but there are parks and forests nearby too, We went to Le Touquet beach twice once in the sun and once in the rain! It is less than an hour away. The kids had an amazing time at Opalaventure (St Cecile Plage - 10 mins from Le Touquet). It is a really well run Go Ape, and our children 7-5yrs were well looked after.
Finally the owner Wendy cannot do enough to help you. she was there to greet us upon arrival and answered all my texts with queries really promptly! The house was beautifully clean and all the linen good quality. No lumpy beds at all - a rare find for a holiday home! An amazing place. Thank you

Exceeded our expectations
We have just returned from a week of the most relaxing holiday in the most luxurious property. Everything we could want or need was there. We were a family party of 10 and there was something for every age. The weather was terrible but we were happy not to go out too much as the house was so spacious and cosy. Thank you for a lovely week we are recommending it to all our friends.

Perfect stay
Last december we stayed with a group of friends at Chateau Dohem for New Years eve. The owner Wendy received us with a warm welcome. We where amazed about the great house. All the rooms are decorated very well to make you feel at home. Around the little village of Dohem there is not much to do but the house is warm enough to enjoy and relax with your friends. We used the poolroom, fitness and the heated jacuzzi a lot. We all had a great time and can definately recommend Chateau Dohem!!

Perfect Break!
My boyfriend & I recently stayed at Château de Dohem & we had the most amazing time. Even though it was just the two of us, the Château felt cosy and homey – Wendy’s interior style and attention to detail is incredible – every bit of the house is beautiful. We arrived just after lunchtime (very easy drive from Calais) and were met by Sue, Wendy’s housekeeper, who gave us a tour of the house & let us know where the nearest towns were. On our first night we bought dinner from a nearby supermarket (about 10 mins drive away) then came home to cook in the kitchen (the pantry is fully stocked with everything you could need). On our second day, we drove to St. Omer – a traditional, quaint town with a beautiful cathedral and plenty of little shops to look around – and in the evening went to a restaurant (recommended by Wendy) in the corner of St. Omer square called De Drie Kalders – the food was amazing and also great value! Back in the Château, there was plenty to do during the day & the evening – there's a games room, plenty of DVDs, a Jacuzzi, gym, sauna etc.! We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights – and definitely could have stayed for longer! We stayed during late November which was perfect for outside frosty walks, but we'd definitely love to come back and experience the Château during the Summer! Thank you Wendy!

Family get together
The property was exactly as described on the website and beautifully furnished throughout. In particular the kitchen was a delight, containing everything necessary to prepare and cook meals for the 9 adults in our party. The size of the property allowed each person to have their own space and privacy if they wished, while communal rooms were large and well set out. Both the jacuzzi and pool table proved very popular. The whole family has a great time. Thank you Wendy.

What an amazing home in such an amazing location. Beautifully decorated and the attention to detail is second to none. Felt so homely and my family had such a relaxing time ,we will be rebooking very soon.

Stunning
I think our family agreed that this is the best place we have ever stayed in for a holiday! The chateau is simply stunning and massive, the only downside is that when we got home out house seemed far too small..!!
The huge pool was brilliant, kids loved it and also loved the jacuzzi. The pool table was a great bonus and was well used by all of us. As the driver I was very happy that it's so easy to get to, a really easy route and only 40 mins from the tunnel and the beer in the fridge was a nice surprise when we arrived. I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering it. Thankyou Wendy!

Wonderful home
This beautiful chateau has been brilliantly restored and decorated, in French country style, with interesting touches such as black and white photos framed on the staircase and landing walls from the 1950's onwards through to modern sporting greats on the gym walls. Every amenity is thoughtfully provided, especially in the fully equipped kitchen with its well stocked fridge and larder (on an 'honesty' basis and with a complementary welcome pack on arrival).
Bedrooms were very comfortable and all had good views, bathrooms were ample and spotlessly clean.
We appreciated the games room with pool table and a wide collection of film dvds, and the board games which we played after dinner. The formal dining room when candlelit at night was magical. But I think we spent more time outdoors than in, eating in the courtyard outside the kitchen (including a barbecue one night - large and well equipped also) or on the decking and gardens around the pool. The pool is perfect, clean and well maintained, with lots of seating and sunbeds to chose from. As the description says, it is not fenced in, so parents with young children would need to be vigilant, but it was brilliant for the teenagers and adults in our party.
Lots to do around Saint Omer which also has lots of good restaurants.
We had a warm relationship with both Wendy the owner and Sue her housekeeper, and it's an easy drive from the Channel Tunnel in Calais.
Can't fault it!
