This is a high quality property situated with many beautiful views of the ocean and town of Getaria. It is a short walk to the lovely village of Getaria, and a short drive or 30 min walk to the lively town of Zaurutz. Parking was a bit of an inconvenience, but the 9 of us with three cars managed. Mastering the method to get a ticket to park legally took us - and many others - some effort. We felt great after learning to manage after a few tries. 😉Others commented on the parking already. We are all in good shape, but note that getting in and out is a climb. And the road noise is present, but not bad. The host was very pleasant and we communicated through WhatsApp easily. WiFi was great. Kitchen was nice. We harvested lettuce and cucumbers from the garden! The nearby Balenciaga museum was great, and we enjoyed several restaurants in the old village and the clean BM grocery store up the hill. Our visit included time in San Sebastián, about 30 min away, and several magnificent hikes in nearby parks. One walk through a botanical garden and old mills, and another climb to a Borda near Atseuza. Really wonderful for those with the health and interest. Also a memorable evening at a cider house! We are very glad for the experience and the house was part of what made our holiday great.

Every few years, my best friends and I get together to celebrate our joint birthdays. This year we decided to celebrate in the wonderful Basque Country. Between us there were 8 adults and 4 tweeners who enjoyed the beautiful Villa Embil perched overlooking the twon of Getaria. The Villa was well equipped with everything we could possibly need and it was delightful to learn about the history of the Villa from the owner Miguel on arrival. We had our very own vegetable garden to pick fresh produce from. We organised our last night in together with a local chef who came and prepared some local delicacies. It's a short walk into town to enjoy some fine Pintxos and a drink. The view from atop 'mouse mountain' is spectacular and the coastal walk to neighbouring beachside town of Zarautz is well worth it. 10/10 and would stay there again.

We stayed at the villa to celebrate the marriage of my daughter and her fiancée. The property was gorgeous and well maintained. The owner was responsive, and we loved the private chef he recommended. Only issue was with parking, but once we figured out where to park it was no problem. Also be prepared for lots of stairs. Some in our party had trouble getting their luggage into the villa because of the climb.

Villa Embil is a little slice of heaven. The property is immaculate with fabulous views and excellent proximity to the charming town of Getaria. The house is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. The nearby Txakoli vineyards are not to be missed. Miguel is an excellent host offering great communication and an extensive guide book for the house and surrounding area. A few key points about which visitors should be aware: The house is situated above the main road and requires a stair climb for access. There is no onsite parking. The nearest parking is extremely close. However, free parking on the nearby dirt road was not always available during our stay. We were always able to find paid public parking, but depending upon how many beachgoers were using the on street parallel parking, the walk from the car back to the house could be up to five minutes. (NOTE: Parking enforcement is only in effect between 10 AM and 8 PM and payment for 24 hours was ~12 Euros.) Finally, dealing with trash and recycling was a minor inconvenience. Be prepared for an extensive waste separation process. Disposal of accumulated trash and recycling is about 500 meters from the house. Despite such minor inconveniences, we had a marvelous time at Villa Embil. The descriptions and photos only hint at the beauty of this house and the surroundings. If we ever return to this magical area we will definitely stay again.

What a magical home and experience. We had our 3 young kids (4,3,1), parents, and aunt with us for a week in Getaria, and will be longing to go back to this Villa every day until we do. Miguel is a special host, and his home was made to feel’s our for our time there. Perhaps our favorite VRBO of all time

Villa Embil was wonderful. Just what we needed to celebrate a long-awaited vacation. Miguel was very informative on meeting us at the villa. It is beautifully appointed with many lovely rooms and fun outdoor alcoves to explore. I highly recommend!

We had a great time at Villa Embil. It is a very charming house which works very well for larger groups. It is right at the beach in beautiful Getaria. Miguel is a great host, very responsive and generous. You should do inhouse cooking with his friend Montxo, great experience.

This house is amazing! The views from the house and the balcony/yard are breathtaking. It is a quick walk to town or the beach - both of which are great. Bedrooms are not over the top but comfortable and same goes with the bathrooms. Overall I would recommend this house to anyone!

The villa, inside and out, is spectacular. Miguel is a great host, very considerate, responsive and easy to work with. Our entire family was in love with the villa and surrounding towns. Wish we could’ve stayed manger.

We had a great time staying at Miguel’s beautiful Villa. It’s in a perfect location as it’s easy to drive to San Sebastián and Bilbao, Getaria itself is a lovely small town with delicious food. The Villa was clean, comfortable and quiet, with spectacular view.

Our stay at Villa Embil was everything we hoped it would be. The property is even more gorgeous than in the photos. We were there with four young kids, and the proximity to town, the beach, and all sorts of day-trips made it perfect for us. Miguel was incredibly helpful - setting up Pintxo tours in San Sebastian and incredible home cooked meals for us. He went above and beyond in helping me figure out Covid testing to return to the US. All in all - I'd highly recommend and we hope to be back again soon!

A perfect Villa and location to use as a home base to explore the beautiful Basque region. Miguel, our host, was extremely attentive and went over and above, answering all of our queries about the area and fulfilling all of our requests. The villa is beautiful and very comfortable, with views that are breath taking. And although the area is a food mecca, the villa was so enjoyable, we spent many evenings cooking in the fully stocked kitchen, grilling fresh fish on the outside grill and drinking the local wine. It was everything we hoped it would be. Thank you Miguel for helping us experience a holiday we will never forget! Hope to see you again....

This was the best rental we've ever stayed at and Miguel was the perfect host. His recommendation of an authentic Basque dinner by Chef Montxo was nothing short of spectacular. I would recommend this beautiful villa and the town of Getaria to anyone visiting Spain.

We can't rave enough about our stay at Villa Embril in Getaria, Spain!! First of all, the villa itself is absolutely stunning. It's perched up high above the seaside with panoramic views from almost every room of the water and the perfect fishing village and port of Getaria. The villa is decorated beautifully a la Restoration Hardware with tasteful neutral colors and linens. Every detail adds to the beauty, while still allowing the superb sea views and terraced gardens to hold the spotlight. We are still dreaming of those views. The only possible issue I can imagine regarding the villa is for someone with mobility issues because there are quite a few stone steps going up to the villa from the road, and then the villa itself has 3 levels. Getaria is a dream village 5 minutes walk on the easy paved walk way that runs between all the nearby towns, and is safe day or night. Getaria has cobblestone streets, beautiful old buildings, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a very nice wide sand beach. The town has a lovely family feel with babies to grandparents happily socializing, eating and enjoying themselves long into the evenings. We quickly found our favorite cafe in Getaria for grilled fish (a specialty of the region and freshly caught daily by the local fishermen) and local wine. The town is charming and beloved, and though quite small it even boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant. We all decided we could easily live in Getaria and be happy forever! In terms of location, the more well-known small city of San Sebastian is about 25-30 minutes away from the villa, Bilbao is an hour, and the Rioja Valley wine region is 1.5 hours. So everything is quite convenient, though we found it hard to tear ourselves away from Getaria and the villa. Last but arguably most important, Miguel was a charming and gracious host who attended to every detail to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Based on our photos of his villa and our rave description, we have already shared his contact info with 4 of our friends who hope to plan future trips! Thank you for everything, Miguel. La casa y los vistazos son más bonitos que las fotos. Miguel Ángel es un encanto de persona y lo hemos pasado de cine en su casa. La casa sería genial para un grupo o una familia igual. Lo del estacionarse y bajar/subir equipaje parece complicado pero realmente hicimos sin problema - y en día de playa hay muchísimos aprovechándose de la ubicación de estacionarse tan cerca de todo. Hemos pasado unos días estupendos con vistazos precios - mejor no hay. Gracias por todo y esperamos volver pronto!

We booked this place for my mother’s 71st birthday and I cannot comment enough on how wonderful the 4 days we spent here were! We wish we could have stayed longer!!! Not only was the place immaculate with breathtaking views but the attention to detail that Miguel provides really makes for the perfect vacation. He has a wonderful book of information in multiple languages along with instructions to certain equipment. He greeted us at check in and answered any questions we had. We encountered a problem with a shower one night and it was fixed by a plumber the next morning. We decided to go fishing and we were provided with names and numbers almost instantly. We had an incredible dinner made for us in the house for my mother’s 71st birthday and I can’t express how awesome that was! Such a wonderful vacation! Thank you Miguel!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Villa Embril in Getaria. The home was beyond lovely and was incredibly convenient and easy for our entire family of 11 people plus a baby! Miguel was beyond helpful and truly went out of his way to make sure we had a wonderful time - arranging dinners, trip suggestions and being a day-to-day resource for us. It was so incredibly special to bring 3 generations of our family together, thank you for such a wonderful week and vacation we will never forget!

Can’t say enough great things about this property or Miguel. He met us on check in day and gave us all the in and outs. Property is beautiful and a great location, quiet but yet close to everything. House perfectly supplied and Miquel even left 2 bottles of local wine that was amazing.!!!

Our family of 12 (8 adults and 4 children) had a beautiful week in Guetaria. The house is exquisite as the photos show. Miguel met us upon arrival, and had everything in place as we requested. We loved the outdoor space for the kids with trikes and all and with such a large group, one can always find a peaceful place to relax. The ease of walking to town for meals, the proximity to the beach and the beautiful walking path that connects Guertaria and Zarautz as well as local hiking provided all the entertainment we needed. The local restaurants are practically on the beach and even with 12 people, we were graciously taken care of for lunch with delicious local food. One restaurant even had sangrias to go for the beach. Miguel arranged an in-house chef for dinner one night as well as a fishing trip. San Sebastian is a 20 minute drive and has all the shopping you desire. A perfect stay for our family!
