Frukosten var jättebra. Något högt ljud men det var mycket folk. Jättebra att det var öppet för att äta frukost utomhus!

L'originalité des logements dans d'anciennes cellules de la prison. A l'arrivée, on peut être angoissé mais la surprise nous attend dans des chambres très confortables et l'on ne peut se douter être hébergé dans une prison ! La propreté est à souligner, la qualité du petit déjeuner également.

Notre hôtesse d'accueil ne parlait pas un mot d'anglais...Difficile de se comprendre quand il faut résoudre un problème de paiement.

Echt een heel leuke locatie, vlak bij de gezellige haven van Mariestad. Het pand zelf is heel tof! Het is zichtbaar gevangenis geweest, maar qua ruimtes voelt het gelukkig heel vrij. De kamers, de service en de gedeelde ruimtes zijn eenvoudig en toch sfeervol ingericht. De ligging is echt perfect, alleen daarom zou je al naar het Waterside hotel gaan!

It was a special experience to stay in a former prison cell. The breakfast was not very substantial but good and appropriate for the price. The position of the hotel was nice and central. Free parking infront of the hotel.

Very small and simple equipped room with shared bathrooms. Loud buzzing outside the whole night (maybe from an ventilating system or something like that).

Location is in an old prison and you can feel the history. Also interesting that you could just wonder around in the building, even into the creepy basement and chapel, as well as deserted hallways and rooms were (weirdly) open... Breakfast was decent and changed a bit both days. Don't expect to get anything that is finished from the buffet though (eventhough there is still half an hour time): the staff was very reluctant to help or fetch anything more. Coffee was not great and we were not allowed to use the coffee machine with fresh beans that was near the buffet, for some unclear reason. Beds were quite comfortable and showers in the shared bathrooms were good too (although not always so clean).

Seems like it has been taken over by people who don't really care for the guests or service towards them, unfortunately. Could have been a great place! The room wasn't very clean, with also hairs on the mattress cover. The room smelled quite a bit like sweat too, which was very unpleasant. Moreover, as I was with a friend, we specifically asked for separate beds, which was accepted upon booking. However, when we arrived in the afternoon (around 17:05), we found that there was only a double bed that could not be separated. This was very awkward and unfortunately there was no staff to be found anymore and the phone was not answered either. Also the email and message via Booking we sent (about the bed and the cleanliness) went unanswered until check-out 2 days later. Hardly an apology when we checked out, which was even more disappointing. Also the shared bathrooms seemed rarely cleaned, maybe just twice a day, while it was shared by over 20 booked rooms. Maybe also good to realise that even though the walls are very thick, it is still extremely noisy through the door, so bring earplugs! And if you are staying here in summer, an eyemask is also recommended, as the curtains are not blinding out the light (and the sun rises 03:30).

Breakfast was good. The styling was a bit odd, Pubstyle dekor/ prisonheritage. The accomodation was in an old prison. Not very cosy, but very vell preserved and interesting :-)

I´m an arkitect and I could do more with the room furniture in our room.
