Very beautiful garden, nice rooms and super friendly staff

The staff were very friendly and helpful and constantly checked on us if we are safe and happy. The place was looked after very well and every little bit of the property was planned and maintained well. Overall top quality place

There was a train track at the back - but this affects the whole area and nothing to do with the hotel The trains aren't very regular but can be a bit noisy especially at night You could hear them right through Hikkaduwa so would be the same No matter where you stayed

Nice small hotel, close to a relatively quite beach at the edge of Hikkaduwa. Pleasant and clean pool area, helpful staff. Hotel is a little out of the way, so hard to get breakfast nearby only real option is the hotels cafe which is about 5 minutes walk away, but easy enough to get a Tuk Tuk to Hikkaduwa for about 500 LKR each way.

Train lines run very close to hotel so in the night you will get woken a few times ( this is however a normal occurrence at a lot of hotels in Hikkaduwa) Bed sheets were not great, this was our most expensive hotel in Sri Lanka so for the price you you would expect a bit better quality. No room cleaning during 4 night stay. Please be aware you need cash to pay here, the room has to be paid for on arrival, they have a card machine but only take cash - we weren’t really prepared for this so best to take note!

It is a perfect and quiet place which is not so crowded as the first line. The hotel has a very nice midsize pool and also space to practice yoga or any sport. Our cabana was very good equipped and clean, it has everything needed. Also the good thing is that it is quite at night so you can rest very well there. Highly recommended and we will come again for sure!

Great hosts and super close to the beach. Rooms have sea view and there is a pool.

The whole place is beautiful, the pool, jacuzzi, and gardens. Everywhere is so well cared for and spotlessly clean. I stayed in the Queen suite on the top floor, massive balcony with gorgeous sea view. Special shout out to the hosts, the manager, the security chap and the lovely young gardener, they looked after me beautifully. The beach is a 2 minute walk across the road, from there you can walk into the town, long walk but I knew that before I booked, good for your step count ;) Don’t miss out on Thambili Gardens, it’s the nicest place I’ve stayed in 2 months of Sri Lanka.

Well worth the price. This place is clearly built on love. The staff is small but attentive and kind, keeping the place clean, and always smiling. We had a great experience. The place is located just across the road from the beach and it is an easy walk to get to open beaches, far enough away for peace from the dance party scene if you want it, but not too far to walk to get there. The manager was helpful and friendly, and helped us by holding our things after our checkout time while we were on scuba. The pool is clean and beautiful, the gardens are well kept, and there is a yoga hall and two sweet dogs that just want to be your friend if you invite them. Highly recommended!

I liked the service, they were all very nice and really very helpful! Room is very comfy, pool is very nice, beautiful place with a nice chill zone. It's very clean and tidy inside and outside.

Close to the quite noisy main road like most of the hotels and close to the train rails. At night it was quiet.

This was a wonderful chill little nature getaway. We stayed in the King Room which was fabulous. The area is beautiful and quiet. Tuk tuks are always available outside the property. Bed and A/C were lovely. They set up a birthday cake, balloons and flowers which was lovely. The staff were kind and friendly. Loved the two resident dogs.

The sheets on the bed were very thin I would have liked a proper cover. No breakfast available because we were out of season.

We chose the King Room with Balcony, which turned out to be massive! Very well equipped with more of the "universal-style" electrical sockets than anywhere else we stayed in Sri Lanka. Also, as it was the top floor we could see the sea. Excellent pool, and lovely quiet gardens. No breakfast included, or available on-site, but the property is only a short 2-3 minute walk to the lovely beachfront Thambili Cafe, where you can get an excellent breakfast (and great evening meals too) with your feet in the sand! Lovely polite, friendly and very chilled staff at both the hotel and the cafe.

We were looking for some tranquility in a busy part of hikkadua and we found it. This is a real hidden gem, very peaceful and opposite the nicest part of the beach. The staff were very friendly and relaxed, they kept the place spotlessly clean. the rooms are beautiful and very comfy. The pool is lovely and there’s a yoga studio just opposite. Highly recommend.

The Thambili Cabanas is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and peaceful places we have ever been to. From checkin to checkout we were treated like family. It is also a local family-runned hotel, which makes it even more worth to stay there instead of an international owned hotel chain. The staff is incredibly friendly and always on site. They will help with all questions, organize shuttles, scooters, onward travel and much more. The facility is extremely well maintained and clean. The pool is very clean and an oasis of peace. The rooms are spacious, also very clean and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is big enough and you have everything you need. Not far you find the Thambili Cafe, which belongs to the hotel and which we can highly recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also beach beds, which hotel guests can use for free. We would like to say thank you again to Rowan, his family, all the hotel staff and Janaka for the wonderful time. This place is really unique.

The pool area and the staff are really nice. The garden throughout the accommodation area is beautiful too and well looked after.

Being in the room closest to the trainline.

Definitely one of the best places we stayed at during our bikepacking trip. Spacious room with a huge balcony, very friendly and accommodating staff. The waves in the ocean were a bit too high for swimming so we enjoyed the pool. The front gate is right on the road but once inside you don't really notice it. In the end we decided to stay for an extra day.

We had a very nice bungalow sounding by loverly gardens the pool vas very good and clean

The room did not have a kettle but thay got me one thay would make you tea or coffee but I needed the kettle for 2am coffee Thay did not serve breakfast thay had a cafe across the road not very convenient.

We arrived pretty late, but they answered our phone call promptly and got the gates opened for us. The place is right next to the beach! The property has many different types of trees and flowers, full of greenery. It also has a pool inside, which was pretty clean. It is mostly calm and quiet except the fact that there is a train track behind and occasionally, a train passes by, but it is not too loud. The caretaker person was available 24x7 and catered to our needs promptly. Another staff member helped us book some sightseeing options along with transport. The property also has a platform for practicing Yoga. There is no provision for food inside the property, but they have an excellent cafe across the street with is owned by the same family. The room was very spacious and the view from the balcony was beautiful. Also, the property has two dogs. They are cute and friendly (eventually)!

The bed furniture could have been a bit better. It made a creaking noise, but it wasn't too much of a nuisance.

Lovely garden and pool area, room was big and comfortable, AC worked properly, low noise from rail and main road - i am a light sleeper and i did have good sleep at nights. friendly staff also.

the only thing to improve is to add an extra layer of curtains to block the sun light early in the mornings, current curtains still let in some light so i slept in a mask
