A great location to gather and stay with family. We enjoyed the hiking trails around the property and the easy access to White Face Hollow down the street.

Once we figured out how to make the bedrooms work (the three upstairs are accessible through the first bedroom so people in the second and third bedrooms have to walk through the first and second to get to the second and third) we had a great time. It was 5 miles from the wedding venue at the Preserve at Chocorua so that was convenient. There is a great collection of cassette tapes and a cool throw-back stereo system which was fun.

You are a marketing expert. Make this description of a stay at a vacation home sound wonderful. This was my family’s 4th stay at the beautiful Tamworth farmhouse and it doesnt ever disappoint! Hikes by beautiful streams and bridges, tubing the rolling hills of snow, ice skating, and then back in time to a fireplace and wood stove with the whole family playing Scrabble and building puzzles. I just know we are making memories for a lifetime with this annual trip. Gratitude to the Alt family, for graciously sharing your legacy with us.

The property and surrounding area is just gorgeous. The house is an older home with a bit of charm and was comfortable. We (6 adults and 2 teenagers) were in town for a wedding at Whiteface Hollow and this was the perfect location. It’s less than 5 minutes to drive there. All in all it was very nice.

My whole family had an awesome time at Chris’ place. The property is gorgeous and the house has a ton of character and plenty of room for our group. Would absolutely stay again.

2nd stay and will return!
Farmhouse charm on the most amazing property! This is 2nd time staying here (my parents, my family, and my sister's family) and like last time, we loved tubing the day away with our kids and playing Pictionary, building puzzles, and having dinner in the great room. The weather was oddly warm this year, so I ventured into the hiking trails on the property - words do not capture that beautiful creeks and waterfalls with well marked and cleared paths. This house is truly a gem!

Picturesque Property
Beautiful, private property. Spacious farmhouse. We loved sitting by the fireplace at night and that picture window in the kitchen every morning. The walking trails are well maintained and easy to navigate.
I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back

Weekend Getaway
Want to feel like you are in The Shire from the Lord of the Rings? …then this spot is for you.
Quiet, clean and plenty of room in and around the house. You can feel the history of the property the minute you walk in.
It was a perfect location to get away and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of a small New Hampshire town.

Tamworth
The property itself is lovely and has great views. It's close to main roads to get all over New Hampshire. The old farmhouse is very large so there is lots of room to spread out. While it has ten beds, it's more like 5 bedrooms versus 7 and the ones upstairs are continuous in a hallway. It was less modern than I expected. The owner was very responsive and a pleasure to communicate with.

Wonderful property for large family
Chris' s property is a big, rambling house perfectly suited for a large family or group. One end of the house has an office/bedroom/bath suite that was perfect for the one family member who had to work during vacation, and for putting little ones down for a midday rest away from everyone else! The kitchen is well-stocked, the beds were comfortable, and the property itself is lovely and feels very remote, even though it is not so far from town. We did not take advantage of the trails on the property this time, but would love to go back in autumn and do so. There was plenty of room to spread out indoors and have intimate conversations, play games, read to the littles or read by oneself. It felt like we were guests in a well-loved family home. Overall, a lovely place for a big family. We would stay there again.

Perfect Pandemic Vacation Spot!
Because of COVID, my family hasn't even left our homes other than necessary activities related to work for over a year. We needed a vacation, but wanted to be responsible. This beautiful property was perfect! We tubed, ice skated, xc skied, drank hot chocolate playing chess by the fire place and enjoyed family dinners in the great room w our pod. Being of a more spoiled generation, we struggled w the fireplace (thank goodness for my dad's know how and the super responsive host) but once we figured it out - it made tge charm even more special. Nothing like our normal life so the kids thought it was amazing! This property feels like another family's treasure that they welcomed you into-warm, charming, filled with and a place to make memories.

Beautiful Property
This Tamworth retreat property exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, spacious, and welcoming - especially the large family room with fireplace. We really enjoyed the beautiful trails and a frozen pond that are accessible on the property. It was the perfect place for our family to rest and be refreshed. Thank you!

Tranquil winter visit
This home had everything we needed for a tranquil winter stay, and it offered more New England charm than we've ever dreamed of! We drove to ski at Wildcat & Attitash by day and returned to cozy dinners in and board game play each evening Gazed at its expanse of snowy fields and XC skiers passing by. Owners show a lot of love for their home. It was clean, well-kept, included easy to follow directions and sizeable enough to fit many more than our party of 5. Thank you!

A great location for a wintery weekend!
We had a fabulous long weekend staying at Chris' place in Tamworth. There were 3 families, with a total of 6 kids and 6 grown ups. Lots of space for the kids to run around in. Lovely fireplace. We spent a lot of the weekend outside, sledding, building snow caves, cross country skiing, running - all possible from the house so you don't even need to get in the car. Kings Pine Ski peak is close by as well, the kids had a great short ski lesson there. Chris' brother, Jim, lives close by and was so welcoming and accommodating, advising us on the perfect sledding hills, helping us to snow shoe the slope, and lending us sleds and a fabulous toboggan.
We will definitely return, and would also love to see the place in summer! Thanks Chris and Jim

Very nice property. Everything as expected. Landlord very responsive.
We used this home as a base for a family gathering. We had 9 adults in the home and found it to be good for this group. We hosted a diner prepared in the home for 16 people with no problems. The heating is done by electric heat in each room and was fine. There is a very large family room with fire place and a big dining table. Views from many rooms are wonderful. Biggest downside, limited privacy in two of the upstairs bedrooms. Best event ice skating on the pond. We would certainly return.

A Wonderful Rural Getaway
The location is a large house located a short ways outside the village of Tamworth, NH. The views are amongst the most beautiful I've seen in the US, with large fields providing views of the surrounding mountain ranges while being bordered by forests full of hiking trails, which were still accessible even in the snow. The house itself was very clean, with fresh bedding and towels laid out and a wonderful kitchen to use. Fully stocked with firewood for both a stove and a fireplace, it's wonderful to use as a place to get away from your normal stresses and decompress. Chris, the owner, was very helpful with arrangements and really goes the extra mile to make you feel comfortable with the house. I can't recommend this place enough.

What a great place!
We were here for a gathering of seven old friends, and it was a great place for us for our long weekend together. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, all the beds are comfy, and the views are spectacular! Plenty of room for all, and a wonderful feeling in this old family home that is dearly loved and maintained. Great walks, too. All aspects of our visit coordinated by Chris and Jim, and a special treat of maple syrup from their trees. Thanks so much, we hope to be back!

Quant Farm House , beautiful views
Had a family wedding in Tamworth, rented this quant old farmhouse which was so spacious, beautiful views and easy access into town. Although we were only 9 people it could defiantly hold 12 plus. Had a great time!

Gorgeous Private Setting near Tamworth
This home was perfect for our family reunion with plenty of rooms/beds for multiple families nestled in a beautiful area just outside of Tamworth village. The kitchen is large and well suited to prepare a family meal with views of the mountains outside the large window. The house has a lovely sitting area that leads outdoors to a screen porch perfect for eating al fresco. The grounds are beautiful with a small pond and walking trails nearby. We highly recommend and plan on coming back to stay in the future.

Beautiful home hidden in the mountains
This house and property is absolutely amazing! You have to really take the time to take in the beautiful scenery. The pictures just do not do it justice. Being from Colorado, we truly appreciated just being on open land. Chris’ brother Jim was very helpful in letting us into the house as well as mowing us a path to the private pond that they have on the property. If you are having a family reunion, this is the perfect place to stay, if you are out with some friends for a weekend, even better! The Genealogy room was absolutely amazing and was great to see all the family history. At night it’s very dark, but it is very beautiful. The skies were so clear we could see so many stars and even saw a couple planets that we could identify and we got to see shooting stars! We would not have picked a better place to stay than this house and could not ask for better hosts. The house was clean when we got in, they even left fresh maple syrup on the counter for us which I thought was a great touch! Thank you Chris for an awesome weekend!!

Winter get away
We were 9 adults staying for a winter weekend. The property is absolutely beautiful with rolling hills, wide open spaces, mature trees along stone walls, interesting outbuildings and views of the mountains. We enjoyed snow showing and cross country skiing some of the many trails reached from the backyard. The house is a 200 year old farm house, if you keep that idea in mind, you will see the quaint. The kitchen, genealogy room and living room provided a variety of gathering spaces. Every evening we had a fire in the fireplace and played games and read in the living room together. The kitchen was well equipped for any meal to prep, serve and eat. Three bathrooms with showers proved very useful, two of them could use updating, but were certainly functional. On the first floor, a queen bedroom and twin bedroom had some privacy and useable space. Upstairs, a series of four connecting sleeping spaces seemed less than ideal or private, but certainly manageable. We ran out of propane the second night, which took out the foyer heater and cook top stove for a day before they could get the tank filled. The home is also heated by a wood stove that we didn't light and electric heat. We were quite comfortable. There were mouse traps in every room and evidence of mice during our stay. Neither of these were viewed as serious drawbacks, but part of living in a farmhouse. Owner Chris, remotely and brother Jim, in person were very responsive to any questions we had. The town of Tamworth is very small with very limited shopping for food or anything else, but within ten to fifteen minutes found gas, restaurants and groceries. So, if you are a group that enjoys outdoor walks or snowshoeing, sledding, cross country skiiing, outdoor photography, then I think you'll love the property and surroundings. You'll have plenty of gathering areas to enjoy time together as well.

Great place for a winter break with x-country ski-out, wooden fireplace and a bit of adventure
We stayed in Tamworth for the 2017 X-Mas break and New Years. One of the coldest few days on my memory, so the great wooden fireplace and wooden stove in the foyer were very useful for warmth, not only the coziness.
Lots of sleeping place and multiple bedrooms came very handy for our two large families with kids. Have to mention that upstairs bedrooms are not isolated with one adjacent to the next one, but that was just a minor inconvenience.
We had a couple of adventures first with a power outage and then with running out of gas, but both ended up to be a mere excitement for kids (dinner with candles and cooking breakfast on a wooden stove) and were rectified very fast by Chris and Jim. Thanks to them for prompt responses to our queries and questions, and a very dedicated approach to solving our issues. Power was restored within an hour (a fuse) and gas was restored the next day.
Besides closeness to multiple winter resorts and skating rinks (all under 30 mins drive), place is ideal for cross-country ski lovers as the trail literally starts at the door step. We loved our stay, and would love to come back the next time winter gets cold and snowy

Excellent Historic Property
We rented the Alt property because we were hiking in the area. What beautiful place to stay. The historic property was beautifully kept and great to explore. Instructions for the house use were very clear and well communicated. We had everything we needed to cook many meals as the house is completely stocked. We were a large group but everyone had enough space. Hopefully our adventures take us back there to rent this home again.
Thank you Chris and your family.

Country comfort in a gorgeous setting
We had a gorgeous weekend at Brookland Farm, enjoying the beautiful view of fall foliage from the kitchen table, walks on nearby woodland paths, and big crackling fires in the comfortable living room. This is the ideal place to enjoy the New England countryside with friends and family!

We loved our stay ... a perfect place for our group of very close friends.
The country house was just right for our weekend gathering. The screened-in porch was lovely for late afternoon lunches and a few of our crew found the "hidden" hammocks for afternoon naps. The surrounding landscape a sweet respite from the world made even better with a walk into the touching town of Tamworth. An added bonus was a kitchen stocked with everything one needs to cook and serve a feast. Thanks to our host for this special NH Retreat. It was indeed that.

Delightful Summer Weekend in New Hampshire
It is a nice, large, secluded, old house located in a very large property area. We were a large group and the various bedrooms were adequate for the adults and kids. The house was stocked with firewood (lots of it!) and we made good use of the fireplace in the living room. The genealogy room was interesting. The host, Chris, and his brother, Jim, were very responsive before and during the trip. Jim lives nearby and is easily reachable if there is a need. It is a good place to relax, take long walks, and, in general, enjoy a quiet stay. After a generally rainy month of May, the only drawback was a few mosquitoes to contend with but that was a small price to pay for such an idyllic weekend getaway.

A perfect fall retreat
You can clearly see the love and attention Chris puts into the place. And during the rental process, he was quick to respond and answer any questions I had. It was only a short drive to Castle in the Clouds and many other beautiful locations to take in the fall in New Hampshire, plus was a beautiful piece of land to explore then cozy up inside at night. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat and would gladly stay here again myself.
