The house was very well equipped, loved the bedrooms and # of bathrooms. The view was fabulous, and the owner was very nice. Highly recommend.

Great representation of Outer Banks - Lovely beach home in Kitty Hawk, nicely decorated with Great deck to watch the sunrise every morning. Plenty of information about local restaurants and attractions supplied by the owner. Great Stay for our first visit to the Outer Banks.

The property is just as pictured. It is very clean. We had never been to OBX, so we toured the Wright Brothers Memorial, the Corolla lighthouse, the Whalehead Mansion and did some shopping. The beach is not busy at all this time of year. The views are gorgeous. The deck is so big and nice. Terry has everything you need in the kitchen to cook.

The Mermaid is a beautiful house fully equipped with all the amenities needed for a fabulous stay in Kitty Hawk, Outerbanks. We felt truly spoiled staying here- location, views, amenities, space to relax -everything! The deck is amazing - we spent so much time relaxing and soaking up the sun via the huge, oceanfront deck! Thank you, Terry, for sharing your house- this little slice of heaven with me and my family! ❤️

House was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The deck was a great place for our kids to play in the sun when we weren't on the beach. The area below the main house is very unique and convenient with shower and bathroom when coming back from the beach. Our only difficulty was with the sizable dune between the house and the beach that made it difficult for young and elderly family members to access the beach.

Perfect location, very lovely stay. Terry was very responsive.

The house has one of the best views of the ocean of any oceanfront house we have ever stayed in. Stocked well, appliances were in excellent condition, and the outside and inside of the cottage were spotless. House is bigger and brighter than photos.

The home was very clean and it was so nice being Ocean front and not having to drag all the necessities for a day at the beach across roadways. We enjoyed Beautiful views from inside the home as well as the top deck!

This is probably one of our favorite houses. We loved the house and the deck , house had all the necessities you would need to cook and relax on the beach . The only thing I can say bad about the place is if we hadve had our elderly parents they wouldn’t have hot to go the the beach because of the huge sand dune. Wish they would’ve had a set up steps to get to the ocean .

The Mermaid is a beautiful oceanfront home!!!! The host is wonderful to work with and the place is located as close to the ocean as you can get! It is a beautiful place that is equipped with everything you would need if you wanted to cook with a big dining room table and a great open design for our whole family, there were nine of us which included four children ages 1,2,3 and 4. We ordered out or went out every night so we didn’t use much of the wonderful accessories she does have there, so well stocked. So much larger than it actually looks in pictures with the three bedrooms upstairs, two full baths up there and a powder room and we never even used the downstairs bedroom which is very nicely equipped with a refrigerator and the bathroom downstairs and shower which we did use when we were on the beach because it was so handy! Very easy little hike up the sand dune and down the other side which was no problem even with all of our little ones we enjoyed the beach every day I can’t say enough about this beautiful home and the wonderful host if you’re looking for a place this is your place to go! Coffee on the deck, in her beautiful high Adirondack chairs watching the dolphins in the morning is about as good as you can get!!!

The house is great and represented accurately in the listing. The views of the ocean and beach are amazing and the deck was incredible (what drew me to this listing in the first place). We would play at the beach for a few hours, then played under the deck and not have to worry about too much sun. The location is great, quiet beach (away from public access), but near a lot of restaurants.

We had a lovely stay at The Mermaid. It is a well equipped home. Comfortable furniture. No smart TVs. WiFi very slow. But wonderful to sit on the deck or on the beach and pass the time!

This was the perfect place for our beach vacation. The large front room overlooks the ocean, pictures don't do it justice. The extra large deck was where we spent our evenings sipping wine and watching the waves. The home was clean and well stocked, the property manager was accessible and attentive. We'd definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful time here. The view is beautiful and the house well stocked, clean and comfortable. Owner super responsible and helpful! Being on the beach is great. Could hear waves at night, lulling is to sleep!

Best location our family has ever rented! Home was well equipped with all the necessary amenities for a large family on vacation. Plus the owner is very responsive to questions and a joy to deal with! Definitely will rent again.

From reservation to check.out, this owner and house do not disappoint! She answered questions before our stay about fishing excursions etc, We arrived very very early, I let her know and she did her best to get us in asap! The house has the most awesome deck where you can watch dolphins, sunrises and your teenagers having the best time! The house seriously has everything you could need to cook for a large family, washer and dryer, great A/C, plenty of space to spread out. The home is decorated with a fun mermaid theme and is so comfortable! If you are looking for a house that is clean, comfy, accommodating, fun and has 30 second access to the beach, look no more! We will be back! Thank you Terry! Phenomenal host!

You can't beat staying right on the beach. Large deck highlight of the property. Also nice to find a house with a king size bed. Private beach access, an abundance of chairs (beach and deck), and plenty of seating for outside or indoor dining. Awesome spot.

The mermaid is a splendid sea cottage with stunning views of the Atlantic and tastefully decorated. We would definitely visit again.

The house feels like a home, and has an incredible deck with a perfect view of the ocean. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing week at Mermaid. The owner is very responsive and cares about your comfort during your stay. Five Stars!

The bedroom on the lower level is perfect for a couple that might want a bit more privacy from the rest of their group. The bedroom itself has a coffemaker, microwave oven and dorm size fridge, along with bathroom, separate shower area and lovely sitting area. The deck on the house had the perfect chairs and tables to sit and enjoy coffee in the morning and crabs in the evening while watching the waves. The owner was very responsive when we reported a small maintenance issue. We are definitely considering a return visit to The Mermaid!

We chose this property because it allowed for pets (dogs) and because of the beachfront location in OBX. Overall, the house and property are in good condition, and the owner has clearly paid a lot of attention to decorating details with a mermaid motif (the name of the house is "Mermaids"). Overall, we were very happy with our stay in this house. The owner was very responsive to our questions and needs.There is a lower level to the house which has a single bedroom/suite with a queen bed, as well as it's own mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker; there is also a non-connected half-bath. This lower bedroom did have a slight musty odor. There are also 2 showers for rinsing off sand on this level. The main living space is on the upper level & has an open layout which is great for families. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances are all in good working condition. There are three bedrooms on the main floor--a Master bedroom with king bed & private full bath, a second room with queen bed and private bath,, and a third bedroom with a bunk bed and trundle (3 beds total). The first two bedrooms are in great shape, however the trundle/bunk is quite old and very creaky anytime you move in either bunk. The closets are also unfinished with various odds and ends. All of the bedrooms have ceiling fans and a TV. There is an additional very small half-bath in the hallway. There is also a large wooden deck overlooking the beach with lots of chairs...great for entertaining.The location of the property is good, directly on the beach with an easy commute to shopping . If you haven't been to Kitty Hawk, a few things about this particular location to be aware of: 1. there is a steep drop off when entering the ocean and the waves can be quite rough, 2. there are biting sand flies that are a major nuisance on the beach (at least in August when we visited); their bites are quite painful and insect repellant was not very helpful, 3. the property is located on a moderate speed highway with very narrow shoulders and no sidewalks, so it is not an ideal place for biking or taking walks (other than on the beach), 4. there are a ton of dragon flies just off the deck, but be thankful because they eat mosquitoes! There are lots of activities in the area that are within a close drive (15-20 minutes) including kayaking and other sea sports. In summary, this is a nice pet-friendly beach house, great for families vacationing in OBX.

We loved our stay at the Mermaid!!!! Couldn't have asked for a better location to enjoy every second of a beach vacation. The huge deck makes for AMAZING ocean watching all times of day. With kids, it was so nice being able to pop back and forth from the beach to the house so easily. And the private entrance made our portion of the beach completely secluded all day long! Talk about an easy way to social distance :). The swing underneath the deck was also a huge hit for all ages :). And Terry was so helpful with everything. A perfect host!!

We loved our view from the deck. Beautiful sunrises! There were a few hiccups but they were taken care of quickly! Would recommend to family and friends.

The Mermaid is definitely our favorite of all the places on the beach. The house is beautifully decorated with private beach access and the deck is a wonderful retreat after a day on the beach. It is equipped with anything a family could possibly need. Can't wait to go back!

We had a fantastic family vacation at Mermaid!! The house is beautiful! It's beautifully decorated! The home is fully furnished with anything you could possibly need. The kitchen has everything that you could ever need, wonderful cookwear! The ocean views are gorgeous from the kitchen, dining area, living room and master bedroom. The home is very spacious and super CLEAN! We were very comfortable and happy during the entire stay! The deck is huge, with plenty of seating with spectacular views! The home owner is super nice, friendly, and caring! There is only one word for our vacation, FANTASTIC! We can't wait to go back to Mermaid! Highly recommend!!!!
