We really liked the wood cabana. We went to hike in sinharaja. The fact that it is located in walking distance to Pitadeniya entrance was really convenient. Food was really tasty and good portions

OK.....this is not a place for everybody. You should know what you come here for. This place is only for the jungle guided tours. it is located ON THE EDGE OF THE JUNGLE, literally. If you are afraid of bugs, or are not an "adventurer" this is not an experience for you. the Owner and manager do their best to assist, they really do, but this is HARDCORE jungle area!! if you are afraid of breaking a nail or an anxious person, it is not the place for you.
Its not that this establishment is not good.....It is different from everything else .....it is IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE, insect-wise, night-sound-wise, night cockroaches climbing on walls wise, Leeches in the shower and next to the nice pool.
Reminded me of serving in the Israeli army years ago.
If you are adventurous enough, and not spoiled, it was the BEST EXPERIENCE IN SRI LANKA, BY FAR
Better sealing of the rooms against insects.
location - you get there with 4X4 only. but it was a thing to remember

W zasadzie wszystko mi sie podobało, może dobrze byłoby zadbać o czystość wokół domków, trudność ze znalezieniem drogi, opracujcie mapę dojazdu żeby nie błądzić

Wirklich tolle Lage. Es lohnt sich auch 2 Nächte einzuplanen. Der Eingang zum Forest ist 20 Meter entfernt. Man kann sich auch dort am Eingang einen Guide nehmen plus Eintrittsgeld. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt.

Een warm welkom met een heerlijke kop thee. Eten was prima verzorgd en erg lekker. Ze doen alle moeite om het je naar de zin te maken. Er werd voor ons een gids geregeld en kregen zelfs een lunchpakketje mee.
Het uitzicht is fantastisch!
De routebeschrijving geeft een locatie op waar je niet bij het hotel komt. Eerst bellen met het hotel voor de exacte locatie.
Er was niet vermeld dat er geen warm water is. Voor mij geen probleem maar voor mijn man wel:). Geen minibar.
Je kunt alleen contant betalen, houdt hier rekening mee.

The location of the hotel is beautiful, only 50m from the entrance of the rainforest. The hotel is very helpful with tours through the rainforest. Do negotiate, though! Our guide was wonderful and really knowledgeable and his English was really good too! The food in the accommodation is really good and they have big portions. The view from the terrace is beautiful.
I had a very negative and unfortunate experience with one of the staff. Therefore I have to advise fellow female travellers, especially those travelling alone, against coming here or to be very cautious! The man working there took me to the rainforest when it was closed and offered to show a waterfall only a few metres in the rain forest. He must have been aware of the leeches and, in the end, took advantage of that to become very touchy with me. It happened very fast and I thought at first he really was only worried for the leeches. Upon coming back, I told my friend and went to the shower. While I was away, he asked her if she wanted to see the waterfall (which was not impressive at all) as well. It seemed like he was not doing this setup for the first time. Although the accommodation was beautiful and all else was good, I therefore have to advise against going here.

Cute little houses right at the entrance to the rain forest national park with a clean bathroom, clean pool with a beautiful view into the green;
If there was a problem noticed, it was immediately fixed after telling the staff;

Awesome setting for breakfast looking out on the mountain forest, with kingfishers, giant and small squirrels for company. Sandaru will make your stay as smooth as possible, organising tours with super knowledgeable and experienced guides, such as Hemel, and arranging food to take on a hike and have delicious meals on your return from the forest.

The worst is to tell about their manager, Sanduru. I personally felt that he was rude. I have no idea what he thinks about himself but he just don’t know how to take care of the guest. There is nobody apart from Sanduru who could communicate with the guest. No one understands English and we literally struggled to communicate with the staffs. When we called Sanduru on phone, his response was even worst. He said he is busy with his work, hence he can’t help us. Now this was way too much for us. The breakfast/food that they served were half cooked and honestly never ate such bad food in Srilanka. I came to this place reading other reviews however, this place was a shocker for us. We are a set of wildlife photographers who intended to visit Singaraja for our work purpose. But this property owners just need the money. They don’t even know how to serve the guest.

Wow still off the beaten track..but not for long! Rare jem that hopefully will stay that way..beautiful, natural..no music, no parties..just jungle side at its finest. Great food, awsome pool, best guide for the rainforest and wonderful host.
Be aware the road is not good for anything but tuk tuk, scooter or 4wd..thankgod or they will come by the bus full n ruin it!

L'organisation, le professionalisme, la gentillesse du proprietaire et du staff est incroyable, il s'inquiete de notre arrivée mais aussi de notre retour ils sont au petit soins on a mangé comme des rois, même le monsieur qui faisait le service nous montrait des qu'un animal était visible du camps. On a tous aimé, je recommande vivement très belle experience, séjour et visite dans la forêt tropicale on s'est sentis en sécurité avec notre guide.

Everything! Great location outside of the entrance of the Sinharaja forest, amazing food, fair prices, the kindest staff and the No1 guide in the forest: Ramesh! He is like Ace Ventura, he can spot the animals like noone else!

Everythlng was perfect. Mr.Sanduru who is manager of those hotels , solved all our problems.Even he gave extra dinner ,food ,discounted taxi service while we were leaving.All crew was so friendly they gave us free tea, coffee and most importantly they care us like not a customer but family members.Their chef was amazing.Our breakfast and dinners were amazing.We stayed another hotels but best breakfasts and dinners we had in this hotel.Those hotels are in the jungle so problems can happen for sure, just tell Mr.Sanduru and he will fix those problems like a magician.Thanks for everything , we recommend this hotel to everyone ! They are best as a crew !

We loved everything at Sinharaja forest gate. I travelled with my four children and Sandaru and his team did all they could to make us feel at home and comfortable. From the food to the exceptional guide and tour - my children couldn't have been more cared for.

The rooms were good, very comfortable, and the staff was just amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is willing to visiting sinharaja & deniyaya with a breathtaking view. One of the best service we have ever experienced.

f you want to stay in a simple, very rustic, cabin as close to the rainforest as possible, this is a place for you. It's affordable, it's charming, breakfast included, and it's situated literally 1 min walk from the main ticket office. All staff is friendly and helpful, they bring you food, order tours and transport. It's a perfect cute little spot if you want to get away from the hassle of towns and cities.

Location is very convenient and close proximity to the Sinharaja forest entrance and at night you can even hear the sounds of grasshoppers from the Dining hall. We've been served with good meals including the breakfast.

This is an amazing place to start hikes into the rainforest from. The cabanas are in a very good state, I even had a balcony facing the pool. The pool is clean and I enjoyed swimming in it! Bathroom with plenty of space, hot water, very clean! The host is very friendly, hospitable and relaxed. He gave me lots of information, helped with arrival and departure. Thank you so much!
At the mederipitiya bus stand (where you arrive closest to the place) there are tuktuk drivers fishing for guests. Two of my friends who wanted to stay at Forest Gate as well were tricked into staying at a different place (forest edge) and into paying upfront. So that when they realised they are in a different place they already payed. Even by showing the booking the hosts there didnt say a word... I guess this is also why this place has bad reviews that I cannot comprehend.

Good place to stay for travelling to Sinharaja forest, minute away from the gate.

Worst at this location was sound. You are in a middle of forest and all what you hear in the evening is loud music.
