Beautiful quiet home on Bald Head Island - short walk to beach
3Br / 3Ba maison dans la forêt maritime ombragée, à quelques pas de la plage et du marché maritime. La maison est entourée de beaux chênes verts et de palmiers sabals et comprend une douche extérieure, deux voiturettes de golf, une véranda avec chaises à bascule, une véranda arrière avec une table pour les repas et des bascules, et un espace ouvert avec deux un à l'étage. La maison est équipée de tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour vos vacances: téléviseurs, DVD, Wii-U, jeux et puzzles, un tourne-disque et de nombreux disques, boogie boards, chaises de plage, vélos et une grande caisse à chien si vous amenez votre chien et il doit être mis en caisse pendant votre absence.
Un abonnement au Bald Head Island Club est rattaché à la maison et peut être loué pour un séjour moyennant un supplément. Le Bald Head Island Club propose des restaurants élégants, un magnifique parcours de golf privé, une piscine récemment mise à jour, du croquet, du tennis et une salle de sport.
Sans voitures ni foules, Bald Head Island est une destination unique et propice à la détente. Accessible uniquement par ferry, cette île est un véritable joyau. La maison est livrée avec deux voiturettes de golf de quatre personnes et quatre nouveaux vélos! We enjoyed a week of island time at this great location! The home is an easy walk to the beach & short cart ride to the market. We loved the decor & bedroom sizes & layouts. Beautiful home nestled under live oaks & palms. Highly recommend & we hope to be back!

Very clean place with great location and wonderful host. Check in and out was very easy. Not an overall perfect rating because needs some updates. Blinds have broken hardware and some were rusty. One golf cart has lots of mildew. Description said it would have playstation 4 and keurig. Should have checked before bringing K-cups and games.....
Overall, though, it was a clean and comfortable place!

The house was great, well maintained. Great location, two minutes from the beach, we could hear the ocean at night. Long ramp and two large bedrooms on the first floor worked perfectly for my senior parents. What a blessing.

This was our second time staying at this house and it was just as special as the first. The seclusion is unlike any other. The two golf carts are great. And it’s in a convenient location on the island, close to the market, wine bar, and jailhouse restaurant. It is close to beach accesses as well. Kris, the host, is incredibly responsive, understanding, and just flat out awesome. Can’t recommend this house enough. We love Bald Head Island, and this house is a large part of the reason why.

Our stay was very relaxing, quiet home, close to the beach, fun for families! We enjoyed the beach, fishing, riding bikes and home-made and take-out meals on the screened in porch. The home is quite comfortable, we enjoyed the island wildlife, and appreciated having the dog along for the trip.

Fantastic spot at Bald Head Island- short distance to the beach or market. Property owner communicated promptly when needed. Property had all the amenities we wanted or needed, lovely shaded lot.

This is the best house we’ve ever rented on the island. Perfect location, close to beach, in the maritime forest, close to the market. Seriously the best location. Place was spotlessly clean, and the host was quick to help when needed. Hope to stay here again and again.

We loved our stay at Sheltering Oaks. The location was perfect for going to the beach and getting to the market. We loved how it was nestled in off the road. It is a very cozy home. We will be back.

This property is in a good location near South beach, a restaurant & coffee place. We had a great time! We walked to the beach, had breakfast & dinner on the screened in back porch which was nice. We also shopped at the various stores on the island & at the dockside store too. We slept well & enjoyed the house & trip so much. Our dogs enjoyed it too. We didn't have to climb steps at all to sleep or enter the house which we liked. We had no one sleeping upstairs but that was available if needed. Overall a very nice quiet culdesac area & awesome vacation!

We chose to rent here for a few days after our wedding. It was the perfect opportunity to rest. The home offered so much privacy, and seclusion. Communication with Kris was excellent and she could not have made our experience any better.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this property and would definitely return! We thoroughly enjoyed eating and relaxing on the screen porch. We ate most meals out, so did not use the kitchen much, but the most important appliance (the coffee maker) worked perfectly. The king size bed was very comfortable. There was a filtered water dispenser available for our use which was great. The golf cart we used ran well. We took out the bikes too, and while they were a little worse for wear, (assuming that’s because its the end of the season) they still worked well enough for us to enjoy a ride to the lighthouse. There is a record player with records which was so fun to listen to! The location is fantastic - easy access to the beach and the market/shops. Everything was clean and comfortable. This is an excellent place to enjoy Bald Head Island!

Really enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal if looking to get away some place quiet and secluded on bald head. Also appreciated that the furniture/appliances/etc were fairly new, especially compared to many other houses we have stayed at on the island! Overall a very comfortable stay.

The property was a great size for us and it was stocked with so many things to make it feel homey. We saw birds and deer outside, but had all the equipment for a trip to the beach, which was 5 minutes away, too.

We visited this property in August 2022 with my nuclear family, my elderly parents, and my (adult) sister. We had plenty of room for everyone and the house was comfortable and well-equipped. The owner was very responsive and checked in proactively. The location is great and very close to South beach, and a short drive to the conservancy and East Beach. I would highly recommend.

Great location, cute cottage
House was great and location was great. You can walk to West beach and Market area if you like. House was small, but functional. It has everything you need..... kitchen stuff, towels, bikes, and grill with extras. The only reason I gave it 4 starts and not 5 is because the outdoor shower could use some love. It's hard to rinse dog, so I hooked up a hose up which had lots of holes. Also, you could not change water temp in outdoor shower. Other than that, stay was great! Ohhh, and beds were super comfortable and furniture was great as well.

We absolutely love this home. Our kids stay upstairs and it provides them their own space (and a little quieter downstairs too ☺️). So close to the ocean, so close to the market & shops, and a quiet peaceful cul de sac. Such a cute home complete with record player and lots of games and comfy beds. We’ll be returning for SURE!

Ideal location on Bald Head
We were thrilled with Sheltering Oaks and could not have imagined a better location for our week on Bald Head Island. The house is a stone’s throw from beautiful South Beach, and a 5-minute golf cart ride from shops, a bar and restaurant, and the market. It’s on a quiet lane in the maritime forest, yet we could hear the nearby waves. Because there is no ambient light, the stars at night are brilliant and fill the sky!
The house itself is perfect, set back from the lane on a wooded path. There’s a front porch and a screened porch in back where we enjoyed coffee and evening wine. The living and dining room area has soaring ceilings and is beautifully lit, spacious and inviting. The kitchen is very functional with everything you’d need, and all the appliances work great. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and our bed was really comfortable. I slept great!
Kristen and Tally were also wonderful hosts who responded quickly to our questions and concerns.
Sheltering Oaks is perfect for a family, a couple, or a small group of friends. We had an amazing time on Bald Head and hope to return soon. If we do, we strongly hope to stay at Sheltering Oaks again!

Wonderful Get Away
We had a fabulous stay on Bald Head Island in this charming home. It is conveniently located close to the beach, market, and major thoroughfares. We very much appreciated the 2 golf carts that allowed us to explore the gorgeous island. The hosts were flexible and very communicative. Overall, a lovely experience!
