We had a marvellous 3 generational family vacation at oak tree cottage,the hosts were wonderful.the cottage nestled in a copse of glorious old oak trees,peace,quietand serenity,surrounde by nature,a time to unwind and unplug.you felt like you were in a treehouse,eating breakfast on deck or dinner in the screened sunroom.,watching the nuthatches scale the mighty oak,the cheeky squirrels perform acrobatics trying to get to the birdfeeder.the cottage had everything you could need and more.An amazing pool and sundeck,family games,puzzles and board games.Dont worry you wifi wizards it was good enough you could work from cottage remotely,but why would you.Nearby a plethora of things to do ,10 mins away Sherando lake great sandy beach ,swming area,walks,fishing,kayaking and picnic tables.grand hiking,kids museums,caverns and a very well run safari park all within an hour.very close to skyline drive,blue ridge parkway,staunton and charlottesville with bigger lake.All in all everything you could need for a n unforgettable vacation.Cannot wait to go back

We traveled here with 6 adults and 3 children and had a wonderful time! The cottage is in a beautiful location and close enough to get to stores and restaurants. It’s incredibly clean, well-appointed and perfect for big groups. The owners are very friendly. We enjoyed exploring outside and playing games with the kids. There are also lots of hiking options nearby. We were there for a wedding but we would definitely come back!

My wife and I came with a couple of our adult sons and two close family friends. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. The pool and the cottage are immaculately clean. The owners live right on the other side of the pool and are SO nice. They even brought over some fresh tomatoes from their garden! And the yummy snacks that greeted us in the kitchen when we arrived were such a nice touch. Highly recommend!

Beautiful views from the farm. A peaceful setting. Easy access to local attractions, including Monticello, Shenandoah, and a wide choice of vineyards and breweries. The pool is lovely. The hosts are wonderful. They are friendly and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome.

Oak Tree Cottage is the perfect place to gather especially if you love being surrounded by nature. The property is very well maintained and the hosts are welcoming. The cottage is super comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. Our family loved the room with all of the windows! While there we attended a family wedding at Pippin Hill, spent a day in Charlottesville, and took a ride on Skyline Drive. After those busy days it was so nice to have such a clean and comfortable place to return to!

Oak Tree Cottage was even lovelier than expected. Immaculately clean, comfortable beds, beautiful views. The pool is only steps from the house, and we enjoyed floating in the water and identifying all the birds and butterflies we saw against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Karen had some excellent suggestions for local hikes and places to eat. Overall, a great week in a great space!

Our family loves this home, this is our second time and we are already planning to book again next summer! There are rooms for everyone so the grandparents, parents and kids get to spend a week all together, this location feels like a peaceful oasis. You have a beautiful view of the mountains and woods and we always enjoy spotting all the critters and birds around. Having a private pool for a week is so fun, the kids can play as much as they want, and the adults can relax under the umbrellas. Karen and Dave have stocked this house so well with everything you have at home so it's so easy to relax. No late night runs to the grocery store to get something we forgot. And they are so responsive to any issues, like bringing a new propane tank for the grill. This is truly a home away from home and the kids are already asking when we can come back to Oak Tree Cottage.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this gem! The home is exceptionally clean and well organized. The pool was sparkling against the beautiful backdrop of the mountains. The owners clearly treasure this property and add little extras to enhance their guests’ experience. We hope to return next year.

We had the best time. The property owners were very attentive and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and make sure that we had everything we needed. There was a storm and when we called Karen to let her know that a tree limb had basically rolled down the side of the house she was very quick to ask if we were ok and to say that if the storm got worse we were all more than welcome to stay with her and her husband until it passed. Keep in mind that there were 6 of us. One of which was a 5 year old. As soon as I got off the phone with her, her husband was at our door checking on us. We would absolutely stay at this property again.

We had an amazing time at the Oak Tree Cottage. Karen and Dave were helpful every step of the way from booking through check-in to check out. Their estate is gorgeous and the cottage has everything you need to have a relaxing weekend. We had 6 adults and one child and slept very comfortably. The common areas were great and the pool was very nice. The new Weber grill topped it off. We'll be back!

The farmhouse was very conveniently located to all our planned activities. The house had nice outdoor spaces that featured lovely views. The farmhouse was very clean and had a well-appointed kitchen. We were greeted with complimentary snacks and a non-alcoholic sparkling wine. There were fresh flowers on the kitchen island. The bathrooms were clean and had plenty of thirsty towels. The bedrooms were large and clean with comfortable beds. Unfortunately, we could not get the upstairs area air conditioners to work even though we followed the directions and did an internet search to troubleshoot. When the owner came to greet us, he said he needed a tutorial for the new units.

My family of 5 (youngest 11 years old) and my mother and auntie booked Dave & Karen's cottage for a 3-night spring break getaway in the country. We hoped for peaceful and we got it. The huge picture windows in the back room overlooking the woods was a big draw for us. With 7 people the dining table seated us with room to spare, The bedrooms are large, beds comfortable. The kitchen is large and well-stocked. We cooked dinner every night and easily found what we needed. We grilled hamburgers one night--nice gas grill. Beautiful deck! The living room is a good size, with comfortable couch and two easy chairs. We brought our own Roku with HDMI cable to hook up to the tv so we could have the channels we subscribe to. The grounds are great--Virginia bluebells were just starting to bloom in the front yard. Lots of other flowers promising to bloom later in the spring (we were there early April). The owner's pretty home is visible from outside the home, but not noticeable from inside. We walked on a path/old road behind the house. The owner told us we could have also walked on past his house to paths on that side that lead to sinkhole ponds where rare native plants are being conserved by a local organization (you can read about it in an article in the binder the owner provides about the house). Dave is super nice--chatted with him right before leaving. He & Karen left special treats for us in the kitchen before we arrived, and put out a sweet vase of daffodils too. We visited nearby Crabtree Falls, a not-too-strenuous hike up the side of a mountain with one of the tallest waterfalls this side of the Mississippi--each lookout a different view. My relatively in-shape 81-year-old mother made it up to the 3rd lookout (my favorite). We also enjoyed Grand Caverns, a tour of the oldest show caverns in the US. They have the only "shield formations" found in caves: large discs with flowstone draped over them. Nearby Staunton is also great to visit: Trinity Church with its Tiffany studios stained glass windows, yummy places to eat, and fun shops (most of which we found out are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays--not the church, though, and we still enjoyed a bookstore & the green room restaurant). Sweet Scoops is locally made ice cream in Stuart's Draft--that's where you'll also find a Food Lion and a quirky local market, Stuart's Draft Farm Market. If you're coming from Northern VA, stop on the way in historic Harrisonburg & Edith Carrier Arboretum for lovely trails.

We enjoyed our stay so much we are already considering a longer stay sometime in the future. The Cottage had everything we needed! Beds were comfortable! The surrounding farm has wonderful views. There were nine of us in all….ranging in age from 16-55. Not once did we feel cramped! The way the bedrooms are set up worked perfectly for our two families. The hosts answered questions quickly and were very helpful before and during our stay. Thank you!

Very clean, quiet, great location. Sunroom was very nice! Able to go tubing at Wintergeen and also take a hike.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is beautiful, and our hosts were incredibly nice. They brought over a new grill on our second day, and we had a great time using it. The pool was lovely, the house comfortable. I was shocked by how many things the kitchen had. A hand mixer? A crockpot? Yup! The sunroom is the highlight of the house, and I enjoyed quiet afternoons writing and silly evenings playing board games in it. Absolutely would stay again.

Everything about our trip was great. The home, grounds, and views were perfect - even got to enjoy the pool during our visit - and the owners’ hospitality made us feel right at home. And as a plus, we were centrally located to great hikes, breweries and wineries. Loved everything about our trip.

My mother and my 2 young children had a very relaxing mini getaway! The pool is very clean and inviting! The house had to be the cleanest vrbo rental so far! We were offered a early couple days due to cancellation previous to our renting, it was not convenient for our dates but were able to check in 3 hours early and utilize the pool free of charge! It was very sweet along with the goodies left for our party! Only thing that was not clear before renting was how close the pool is to the homeowners back yard/back of the home. Just a recommendation, I would add some greenery/banana trees tropical plants to give a more natural barrier from pool to home. Overall a wonderful rental very clean and we would definitely stay again!

We enjoyed the property. It was very peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed walking the gravel roads on the property. Kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. Weather was not quite warm enough to enjoy the pool while we were there but is a great amenity to have for the summer! Close to several breweries, wineries, and several other things to do.

We had the best time at the Oak Tree Cottage! Took a week for our family pod to get a little break during COVID while still wanting to be really safe since we have little kids and elderly folks in the family. This cottage was perfect and exactly what we wanted! Relaxing in a pool with a view of the mountains is just incredible, it was so nice being tucked away on this farm with just trees in every direction. The little kids just loved the pool and being able to run around and explore outside, the house was fully stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable and to cook meals, and it was so convenient to make dinners on the gas grill. Everyone in the family had a nice comfy bedroom, and two full bathrooms were really helpful. Karen and Dave were the loveliest hosts, gave us lots of tips of all the best things to do and creatures to look for. Dave even brought us some extra tomatoes from his garden. There were several farm stands and breweries within a short drive so we could get delicious produce, meat and beer to enjoy for our meals. And Kroger and Target were also only 20 minutes away, so it was easy to get anything we needed. Such a wonderful balance of feeling away from everything in our own private wilderness, but also having the convenience of civilization. Every single person in the family just loved this place and the kids asked 'when can we come back?' before we even packed the cars up. We are already looking at dates for next summer to come back for a peaceful family escape.

Oak Tree Cottage was so wonderfully appointed and clean. Karen and Dave are kind and gracious hosts that make sure the cottage is filled with all the little extras you might need. It is so perfectly located to so many things we wanted to visit: wineries, cideries, Staunton, Waynesboro, you name it. We very definitely will be back! We've done several vacation rentals in the Afton and Wintergreen area and this is by far my favorite so far. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that is considering it

If you're looking for something to do out of the ordinary, a drive though the Virginia Safari Park in Natural Bridge is a blast. We would love to return someday. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

Karen & Dave were the best hosts! The house fit perfectly for our 2 night ladies weekend! The house was plenty big for our 7 guests. We spent time at the pool & enjoyed being together. Karen was super accommodating & even brought us batteries at the drop of hat bc our tv remote wasn’t working. The small lane was perfect for a short run/walk. Beautiful scenery & great company!! We’re already making plans for next year!

Our second stay was just as wonderful as our first and already booked for next year! Warning - if you book here - don’t make too many plans that take you away from the cottage as you will want to spend as much time as possible poolside, and relaxing on the porch and cozy in the lounge dining room with panaramic windows of the forest - it’s like being in a tree house.

We had a wonderful time at this property. I was so pleased with how clean it was and the kids absolutely loved playing in the pool and riding bikes around the farm. They said it was the "best vacation ever!" It's a great location for unplugging and unwinding. We hope to be back!

My husband and 2 children has an enjoyable stay, although the weather did not cooperate with us! We were able to briefly use the pool and enjoyed relaxing in the house. The house was very clean, comfortable, and spacious for us. We loved being an easy drive from great hiking, scenic outlooks, and breweries/vineyards.

A perfect location for family to meet to celebrate our Master's graduate. Everything about our stay was outstanding. The cottage is very easy to get to, and the property is beyond beautiful. The cottage is very clean, stocked with everything you would need, and beds are very comfortable. Karen and Dave were so accommodating and helpful to ensure our stay was fabulous.
