The hosts were very gracious and hospitable. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The pool was great. We were able to walk to dinner and sone activities because the house was located downtown. It's a good place to stay.

Barb and Art gave attentions to every detail of decor and hospitality. This was a beautiful and comfortable homebase for our family vacation during the holidays. Communication was excellent, and we were overwhelmed by the kind and generous touches, including coffee and pastries. Every one of their five stars is well deserved. We will definitely be reserving this property again.

There's five-star and then there is beyond five-star. This unit far exceeded expectations. This is now our third stay and each experience has been better than one before.
Our hostess, as with our previous bookings, was engaging, hospitable and accommodating. The bakery goodies and coffee were greatly appreciated. The Christmas decorations added significant charm and beauty to the interior surroundings.
I highly recommend Art on Walnut to all vacationers planning a trip to Lancaster County at any time of the year.

Art on Walnut is such a gem! I grew up in Lancaster and came back to visit family. The house was the perfect home base for gathering. Great amenities; comfy beds; the pool!!! Barb was so accommodating and generous, and the communication was excellent, letting us know when she would be over to clean the pool and water the plants. The property is in the city, so there is the normal amount of urban noise, but the house is set back from the street and has a very secluded feel. Thanks Barb and Art!

We had a great time in Lancaster. Barbara went above and beyond to make our stay extra special over Easter with our children. We would definitely stay again if we come back to town!

I have stayed at this property a few times. I have stayed in the summer, early spring, early fall and over the Christmas and New Year holiday. I have enjoyed the property, location, unique character and most importantly the hosts Barbara and Art.
Quite honestly I dont like to leave raving reviews of my favorite places because then the properties become less available and this property is booked frequently. Oh well… its a great stay and I highly recommend choosing this property.

Our trip to Lancaster was for a family member's baptism. The accommodations were just what we needed. We had family from different states and enjoyed being able to cook breakfast and lunch together and sip our coffee each morning. We loved being right in Lancaster City, convenient to our local family members. We experienced a warm fall weekend and enjoyed sitting out back as well as taking a walk to downtown Lancaster. Barbara was a wonderful host and answered the few questions we had during our stay. 5 stars all around! We look forward to our next visit!

Perfect Getaway
This was the perfect house for our family/girls vacation. Barbara, the property owner, was so welcoming and friendly and provided us with lots of tasty Lancaster goodies and also provided restaurant/outing recommendations. She made sure we knew could reach out to her with any questions, but she made sure we had everything we needed at check in and we were all set for our week. The home and pool were immaculate and we spent most of our time enjoying the pool. The home is so close to a lot of great eateries and Lancaster landmarks.

A wonderful hidden gem
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at this property twice while visiting Lancaster and this property is right in the heart of the best of Lancaster and yet very private. The property is located in best of a fun metro center yet tucked away behind a beautiful setting.
The property is well appointed and has great indoor and outdoor spaces and most importantly incredible property owners.
A favorite!

Wonderful home in a convenient location
We stayed in Lancaster for my son's wedding near Wrightsville. This was the perfect location for running errands, spending an evening with the wedding couple and just hanging out with family. Having the pool glistening in the night gave an exotic feel to the evening like we were at the shore somewhere. Having the kitchen gave us the opportunity to cook some of our own food which is awesome when you have diet restrictions. Grocery stores were close by.
Barbara was very considerate and provided welcome "sweets" from the local bakery and some snacks in the pantry. Later she also providing a gluten free cake for my daughter. A very much appreciated gesture. She made sure we had the coffee and tea we preferred as well. The layout of the house is excellent providing plenty of space to be together while also providing private space for the residents. The beds are very comfortable, you sleep well from the first night there. There was also no street noise in the house. Having onsite parking was another bonus.
We would definitely stay again in this welcoming home. It is a great value as well.

Lancaster Oasis
First off Barbara was great to work with and provided so much information before even arriving to Lancaster. Between the pastries, coffee, and the pool at the residence we only left during our stay when we had some family obligations to attend to. Stayed with my girlfriend and two boys (7 and 9), my brother, and my mom and step dad. The 3 bedrooms were great and we were all able to have our privacy while having a great living/dining area to hang out as a family. The pool is massive and has a great patio to watch the kids swimming around and relaxing evening. 5 Stars for sure, if you need a house to stay in Lancaster this is the one for you!

Another wonderful visit!
My family and I came to stay for our second time and loved it even last year! The house and pool were immaculate, the town of Lancaster is easily walkable and charming, and Barbara the owner was as kind and helpful as ever. We can’t wait to come again and recommend it highly!

One-of-a-kind in-town resort
The space is easy to move through and accommodated seven people to sleep and 14 to eat easily. It is clean and easy to keep clean. There are games, pool toys, books, and entertainment everywhere. The pool, one of only 4 backyard pools in Lancaster as far as I know, is a savior if you have kids. The fragrance-free detergent and soap is a savior if your kids have allergies. Barbara communicated with us regularly without intruding on our family time. She also stocked a mountain of local pastries and our favorite coffee to greet us upon arrival. The house is nestled into the city but feels secluded. We hardly needed cars—only to go to Whole Foods, Hersheypark, and Sickman’s Mill. We are looking at dates for next year already.

Great Summer Getaway Week
Barbara and Art have a lovely, well kept, eclectic house that is walking distance to many features of downtown Lancaster, and a short drive from such various fun such as horse backing riding, paddling, rock climbing, and Hershey Park. My family (kids aged 13 and 10 and parents each 70+) enjoyed time together at the house, at several enjoyable local restaurants and on daily excursions. Barbara is a gracious, friendly and thoughtful host and we enjoyed meeting her very much.

What a unique and joyful experience to stay at this property! The hosts were really excellent (super quick to respond, friendly, and helpful) and the property special (quirky fun art, unique amenities, very clean, and the pool fantastic)! Walking distance to some great downtown experiences and fun to explore the neighborhood. Highly recommend and hope to return ourselves!

Amazing time in Lancaster
Barbara's home is in an exceptional location. We enjoyed walking to downtown which was a short walk away. The kids enjoyed the pool too! Barbara was so wonderful with great tips of places to explore. An added bonus was the yummy baked goods she provided and a lawn blanket we could use at Long Park.
Thank you for such a memorable vacation!

All-included luxury
What first attracted us to the house was the pool, and then the uniqueness of the decor. Then, Barbara was super sweet, she provides multiple tips before you arrive, feeds you local delicious sweets -- we loved pecan buns. The interior design is fascinating, with a knight named Michael and mannequin named Penelope. One toilet is inside the library. The library has a book selection for every person imaginable -- from children's books, to classics like Tostoy, to biographies of presidents and famous politicians. The rest of the decor is a mix of 40s chic with a splash of 70/80s thrown in. There is a pretty comfy chair in the form of women's high-heeled shoe, while one bedroom has a lighted palm tree. The view to the pool from your living room is magical. There are actual school lockers for your wet clothes. The pool is the perfect size and shape -- it has a deep section of 8 feet in the middle for adults and 4 feet around that for kids. The privacy is unparalleled -- high solid fence all around the property, or impenetrable bushes. Even though you are right in the middle of old Lancaster, no one will know you are there. The owners seemed to be fascinated by water and fire, what with the pool feeing like it's part of the regular house, firepit, fireplace and barbecue. Barbecue is super-easy to use, lights with gas, then burns coals. All utensils and every possible kitchen item is provided. Jacuzzi and his/her combined shower are great. Barbara is super attentive to detail, many board and other games are on the property for kids, the pool has a kid alarm on the door and high latches on all doors so your small kids can't open any external doors. Restaurant scene in downtown Lancaster is very good -- reminds of New Orleans. Lancaster Brewing Company restaurant is 1 block away, and it is by far the best one we tried (twice). We had breakfast at Rachel's Creperie every day, it's one of the best Creperies we ever tried. Both restaurants recommended by Barbara and confirmed through research on other review sites. Other notable eateries are the Belvedere and Decades (it's also a bowling alley, but surprisingly has great food). Amish attractions like the solid Landis Valley Village and Amish house are nearby. We walked around historic Lancaster, used the pool every day. The kids loved it. We were also amazed at Barbara's response when we had one small problem with the house equipment, she had 2 techs onsite in 20 min. Overall, an amazing, memorable vacation!

Fantastic home in a great location!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Art on Walnut! The home is in a great location...easy walk to downtown Lancaster, the Lancaster Brewing Company in basically next door for awesome beer and food. The home was spotless and our host, Barbara, went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable there during COVID. She left us shoo-fly pie, sticky buns, donuts...all the Lancaster County favorites that taste so good but add inches to your waste!
I would recommend Art of Walnut to anyone looking for a home with cool decor, easy access and a wonderful host! We're looking forward to our next stay there!

Brilliant Stay
From the moment we booked communication with Barbara was excellent. Perhaps the best host of any property we have stayed at. The home was even more beautiful and suitable than the pictures showed....a really pleasant surprise. The outdoor grill was great. The fire pit in the front provides a nice evening option...overall a little oasis in its neighborhood. The park nearby was great for the kids too!

Art on Walnut....simply the BEST!
This was our second stay at Art on Walnut....and it was even better than the first time. Greeting us again with her ever infectious and positive personality was Barbara, our hostess. Her enthusiasm for what she has created is very evident.
The floor plan of this house is superb - open and comfortable for everyone in the family. The house is a destination in and of itself. After a day of driving through beautiful Lancaster County, it was good to come back to this impeccably clean and inviting house.
Kudos to Art and Barbara for their five-star property!!!!!

Amazing time in a house with charm and character!
Do yourself a favor and spend some time here! We had an amazing 4 night stay at this beautiful home. The owner Barbara is truly wonderful and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and ensure you have a wonderful stay. Even before we arrived, she was very helpful and provided all the information we needed and gave us ideas on things to do and see based on our interests. She brought us fresh baked goodies at the start of our stay, including a fresh pineapple, and went out of her way to get apple cider donuts for my son on the morning of our departure! On top of everything else, she let us stay longer on our last day so my son could enjoy the pool a little longer. We’ve stayed at numerous properties and Barbara was definitely the best we have had! It was chilly at night during our stay and we really enjoyed the fire pit in the front yard and made s’mores. My son loves playing chess and he enjoyed matches with his dad at the chess/checkers table. There are so many little interesting things to see in the house so make sure to look around! And if Pokemon Go is a game played by members in your family, you’ll be happy to know there are 2 PokeStops you can hit from inside the house and the brewery next door is a Pokemon Gym (ignore this comment if it makes no sense to you LOL). We will definitely be back!!!!

Although the owner comes to the property every morning-I was surprised the pool was never vacuumed during our 5 day stay. After a few days the kids really didn’t want to go into the pool because the bottom was so dirty and full of leaves. I kept assuming that each day I would wake up to a clean pool. No such luckBeside that issue, we ran out of toilet paper and garbage bags. That would have been no problem, but I had to explain to the owner how these items were not misused before we were restocked. If you can afford the place I’m sure you don’t need to steal toilet paper or garbage bags. Other than those few things the house is comfortable-the beds aren’t really comfyThe owner is gracious ,helpful and aims to please.

Wonderful week at Art on Walnut!
I recently spent a week at Art on Walnut with my husband and two daughters, ages 7 and 9. What a perfect place to retreat from the world during these crazy Covid times we're living in! We were essentially looking for a comfortable house with a pool that we would be happy to live in for a week without ever leaving (haha), and it was all that and more! We were blessed with beautiful weather, so we spent much of our time outside, in and out of the pool. Inside was just lovely - the house has every comfort, is beautifully appointed, and features some fun, quirky art (a knight in full armor and his Viking lady friend in the living room! And my girls loved the cushy chair shaped like a high-heeled shoe!). We also really enjoyed having full access to Disney+ (Hamilton!!) and other Roku TV offerings when we felt like being inside, and we had fun learning to play chess at the game table in one of the bedrooms. We did venture out for a couple of outdoor meals, at the Lancaster Brewery just down the street and at the Press Room downtown. Both were great and felt very safe (thanks for the recommendations, Barbara!). We also enjoyed the Pine View Dairy for ice cream (and cow petting, if desired). Barbara was a wonderful host, providing an array of delicious local pastries on our arrival, plus a shoo-fly pie midweek to carry us through to the end of our stay. Wonderful stay, highly recommend! Thank you!

Awesome local getaway
We had a great time at the house! We were looking for a house with a pool for two couples with two kids and this was the right house for us! The pool was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the kids loved playing with all the pool toys that were available, and there is a park with a jungle gym two blocks away that the kids also really enjoyed spending time at. The house was clean and comfortable to spend our week in and Barb checked in on us to make sure the house was up to expectations and we were having a good time. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans, dishes, and silverware. Barb did a great job cleaning the house between guests and we felt comfortable knowing how much effort she put into trying to make it safe during this strange time. Remember to bring your bug spray: we aren't from Lancaster so we were surprised to find mosquitoes all over the city but quickly realized our mistake. This was a very enjoyable place to get some much-needed R&R during a time when we've found it so difficult to leave our house. Thank you Barb!

We had a phenomenal experience in Lancaster, thanks to Barbara. The rental property was spotless and well-maintained, the location was convenient and the pool is as great as advertised. Everything from the house’s design and organization to the reception from our host was thoughtful and considerate. Barbara even brought our 8 year old local sweet treats multiple times! We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a great getaway.
