The location was perfect for my event. It was clean, everything I needed was provided and the owners went above and beyond to make sure that I was okay.

The host gave us some toothpaste when we arrived and was patient enough to let us check in a bit after 10PM.
Room was nice, clean and cozy and neighborhood was nice for jogging.
They even had a lot of stuff in the fridge free to take for the guests. Very kind.
The shared bathroom was clean when we arrived, but by the end of our stay there was some hair on the floor.

The host was very nice and helpful.
The room was warm and it was rather far to get to Toronto.

Undoubtedly it’s been one of the best accommodations we’ve ever been to. From the very first moment, Melanie and Sam made us feel like home and had such a warm approach and even invited us to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner with them which was an unforgettable and authentic experience.
We literally have never seen such generous and helpful hosts like them. Their energy and attitude were inspiring.
All the facilities in the house including the bedroom and bed/mattress are comfortable, looked after and clean.
The bathroom was impeccable at all times.
We would also like to highlight the little area with coffee machine and snacks available to guests.
We would definitely come back if we're ever in Toronto again!
We have not observed anything negative!

not that much.
this clearly is a roominghouse. although some rooms might be licensed, I don't believe the whole thing is legal..there are too many people in the house - very intransparent.

Amazing place, everything very clean, Melanie it's such excellent hoster. No problem to return at night late, just keep quiet entrance. Nice place to stayon good neighborhood, even I work a bit on garden taking sun :)
3.5
The host mainly. She was very accommodating. The location was OK. A bit out of the way for me. The room was OK. It wasn't particularly inviting.
The location, the shared bath wasn't ideal. If I had to do it over I would probably look for a cheap hotel downtown.
Initially I booked 5 nights. I had meant to book 4 but the business wouldn't refund me for the mistake so I stayed the 5 nights.
I think the practice of not refunding people when they make a mistake with an on line booking is extremely bad business.
It's certainly not the kind of practice that brings customers back.
Nobody wants to feel as though the owners self interest is more important than the quality of their own experience.
The check out time, I feel, reflects that same kind of self interested attitude.
10am is just too early to ask guests to vacate rooms.
I recently visited a Quality Inn whose check out time was 12 noon. I will book absolutely book with them again.
Even though I did not have a bad experience at Village at York U I probably wouldn't book with them again for that reason, primarily.
I would have no trouble recommending the place though. Melanie was a kind and accomodating host.
If solo travellers need a bit of help or company while travelling this place could be a fit.
There is a fairly steep staircase so for those who don't do stairs it may not work tho' Melanie is easily reached and is always more than willing to provide support.
Breakfast items included in fridge ( can access 24 hrs a day). I paid about approx $155 a night taxes in.

We spent 11 nights here so I can tell about the whole experience. It was wonderful and I would like to thank Melanie for that!
30 minutes (bus and metro) from the airport. Finch West metro station is in 7 minutes walking, which takes you to downtown in approx 40 minutes, 3.25CAD. This metro ride just feels long, but it isn't uncomfortable at all- it is worth it to spend the money you spared booking this accommodation to enjoy Toronto. The price is extremely affordable compared to anything else. The house is located next to a road but it didn't feel noisy at all.
The house has a cosy family sphere and we got a clear welcome tour from Melanie. There is a huge fridge for guests and the host provides some food and drinks to survive if you would arrive home late with no groceries (water, food to have a quick breakfast, instant noodles)- it is a nice touch! The room is clean, the bedding is nice, the aircon is pretty strong.
There are 3 rooms- they are all different size but the pictures on the website are true to the facts. I had a smaller room but with a big step-in-closet to hide my luggage and hang clothes.
You share the bathroom with 2 other rooms, but it is located on the same floor just in few steps. I didn't experience crazy waiting times for the bathroom, it isn't something not doable but we also had exceptional morning and evening routine so we didn't necessarily meet other guests all the time. To be honest the bathroom would need daily cleaning when used by 3 rooms (up to 6 guests) as the toilet inevitable gets dirty and hair will fall here an there- all in all I think I was lucky with neat guests but of course it will never reach the private bathroom level.
It was great that Melanie helped us with our laundry and we also got to use the hand steamer which came in handy as we attended a wedding.

Everything was wonderful. The room was clean and nice, the house really beautiful. Our host Melanie was so kind that I can not even express her kindness. She was wonderful. We felt like home.
In the morning we got muffins and toasts. Also location is good, near parking and near the metro line. It was a wonderful experience I suggest to do.

Everything from the location to the cleanliness of the place to the attractive quiet and the wonderful host, Melanie - it was perfect. A memorable stay indeed. I had no issues whatsoever and most of that credit goes to the awesome person at the house who manages both the guests and her family! Thanks Melanie for such a wonderful stay.

Melanie was very welcoming, explained us everything and even provided some complimentary food (a lot!) that we could help ourselves to free of charge. Also told us the best places to dine during the introduction. The location is also really quiet and lovely. Felt like a vacation at grandma's place in a way. Extremely cozy.

Very cozy spot to stay with good connections to downtown Toronto (5-10 mins walk to the closest subway station) and within walking distance to York university. The host was extremely friendly and helpful to assist us with our questions and requests. A very positive surprise was to find out that there actually were some breakfast supplies (coffee, toast, instant oats..) available for guests even though there was no mention of that in the property description. Would definitely stay again!

Location is good
It is expensive and no operational kitchen due to covid.
THAT WAS THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
4.5
Amazing and kind host, available any time for any enquiries. The house, the bedroom and the shared facilities were amazingly clean and the atmosphere was so peaceful and quiet, which was really appreciated after long days walking around Toronto.
Nothing to relate about the house. Just note that you have to walk 10 minutes to go to the nearest metro station that will lead you downtown in about 30 minutes (or return to the house). It's not a complaint at all, it's just to let you know that you will need to take in count that time travel if you have affairs to do downtown.

there was nothing to like
the owner was very rude and racist to me and my partner. she accused my girl of being a different person because she did her hair and she treated us like garbage when it was time to check out. we tried to extend our stay for another night but she was so rude about it.

Bigger room.
Towel change.
More lively atmosphere.

The owners take really good care of this house and we're super fantastic. They even put towels for me and it wasn't part of the package. They offered me breakfast and snacks. They keep the house and very clean and bug free. Very impressive and highly recommend it to anyone. It's a price is fantastic. These people work hard. Bless them and thank you.
