This place totally fit our needs. We were a group of four adults and six young children. The home was clean, the park was nearby and the Michigan Lake Beach not far.

Our stay at this "family friendly" house was anything but. The house, both inside and outside, is FILTHY. We had to wash all linens and shower curtains before they were usable. There is mold and mildew growing in both the inside and outside the home. All of the home's fire detectors are detached from the wall and in a drawer in the kitchen. There are barely any utensils or cups and the knives are either completely broken or unusable. Curtain rods are ripped from the wall. The dryer's handle is actually a broken hanger top. The couch is DISGUSTING. It has stains all over it and is ripped apart. Half the furniture is broken. The railing on the outside deck is completely unattached and unsafe. The items in the shed are rusted and only about 1/10 of what's pictured. The pictures on this site are not accurate. It's a completely different kitchen. The host did not respond to a single communication. We were only in town for three days. We checked in at 4pm and had to leave by 430 for an event. We didn't get back to the rental until 1130 and so didn't even have a chance to really check out the property until next day. We messaged the host that day, but he never responded. We followed up with VRBO who said they would follow up with the owner and then said they reached him and he would reach out to us. He never did. By then, our rental period had ended, and VRBO is now saying that they have no recourse because it's post stay. Don't use this rental. It was AWFUL

My large family and I stayed here two years in a row. Hoping things would have changed and be updated. A/C doesn’t work very well can’t keep up in warm weather. Pictures aren’t accurate. Kitchen chairs broken. Coffee table literally fell to the floor broken. Couch so far broken down can barely sit on. Furniture needs updated for high price of the stay. Place needs some attention and a really good deep clean. For the price of cleaning fee the place Isnt CLEAN. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Communication sucks as well. Hated to leave this review but for the cost I want others to be aware.

This house gave 7 adults and 2 children places to sleep. It was less than a mile from the Lake Michigan shore. But I’m sorry there isn’t much more positive to point out. The stay began as we were making our first evening’s meal. We knew there was a gas grill and that we’d need to get propane, which I did. But the grill is ancient and rusted almost entirely through. The igniter would not work, so I had to light it with matches. Some things were just annoying, but others were just not safe. Annoying were that there was only one spoon, no blankets, burned out light bulbs, no kitchen towels, the coffee filters were the wrong type, and not enough toilet paper. The furniture in the bedrooms was good, but everything else was old and shabby. There was a burn hole in the downstairs sectional. As a family, we like to play games. We couldn’t do it at all because there were only 5 chairs, and 3 of them were broken. The coffee table was broken and couldn’t be used. We couldn’t all fit on the couch, so we had to bring in plastic Adirondack chairs from outside. There were no smoke detectors mounted in the house. We found them stuffed into a drawer in the kitchen. That’s just not safe. We also had the downstairs toilet clog, which set off a piercing flood alarm that wouldn’t turn off until I cut a cord (at the owner’s direction on the phone). There was standing water in laundry room, and the downstairs shower leaked. I would have said more but only given 1500 characters.

My first experience with any home rental company. Didn't get a lot of direction from owner and didn't get access information until minutes before check in time. Home was clean enough, but furniture was old with coffee table quite wobbly and one kitchen chair actually broke under someone sitting on it. Also, constant chirping of what sounded like a dying smoke detector battery, but we couldn't locate it. No checklist of what we were responsible for at checkout, such as garbage, bedding, etc.

Just as advertised. Kids loved the lower level and the adults loved it as well. Walking distance to a good pizza place and centrally located for Chicago and St. Joseph. Would stay again.
