Acacia Lodge at Wattle Point on the Gippsland Lakes is an ideal venue for those wanting to get away from the main crowd - yet still be close enough to facilities should you need them. Being literally on the waters edge makes it particularly handy for those with a boat, kayak or other watercraft. The Lakehouse itself is spacious and well appointed, with all the mod cons should they be needed. A terrific venue full stop.

Beautiful property & house - everything provided. Kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms lovely and clean however all entrance doors - sliders were in need of a clean + spider webs. Overall a lovely property, well maintained and catered, very well presented and wonderfully peaceful.

Reviewer Comments:
We booked this place to attend a thanksgiving ceremony for my late parents. Internally the house was great, clean with games and a pool table and wifi that worked. Nice kitchen bud bedrooms. What was a little disappointed was the outside. It was hard to find at night and not well signed, although we like naturalBush land it seemed overgrown along the driveway and around the house and was not particular inviting to explore. The dirt path to the lake was covered in water which was a pity as we wanted to enjoy this and could not. I think a bit of development on this area would make the experience so much better. Somewhat disappointed.

Reviewer Comments:
Loved everything about the place, and the booking experience. Have some tips for the property owners, for their consideration.
The driveway is rather tight & overgrown for our vehicles/trailers/boats; causing some damage. As an experienced driver & naturalist, I would recommend some gentle pruning/removal of only weed species shrubs, to improve access & egress, for general use, or even in emergencies. No indigenous vegetation needs to be harmed. Removal only of the invasive Acacia longifolia subsp. sophorae (Coast Wattle) would vastly address/improve the situation. Acacia longifolia subsp. sophorae is a fast-growing native, indigenous to coastal dunes, along the Ninety Mile Beach, but has invaded the Gippsland Lakes heathland/woodland hinterland, much further inland from its natural range. It's best removed.
Also, we noticed irrigation sprinklers coming on automatically every day, in the middle of the front yard bushland areas. This continuous irrigation will eventually kill all the remnant Banksia serrata Saw Banksia trees, as they are sensitive to waterlogging and associated waterborne root-rot Cinnamon fungus Phytophthora cinnamomi.
The continuous irrigation will also only exacerbate the lush growth of understorey fine fuel load plants & biomass, thereby elevating summer fire risk/hazards. Best not to water the bush continuously, but maybe use the system for wetting down on fire danger days only.
I also noticed a few South African ornamental grasses & irises that pose a risk of rapidly spreading as environmental weeds, threatening your bushland oasis. They should be hand-weeded before they establish as an uncontrollable infestation.
Happy to be contacted by owners, if they're interested in discussing vegetation or bushland management any further.

Peaceful retreat
Stayed here with 4 adult children. The house was very clean and tidy with large rooms. Location is in a very quiet area with the lake in your backyard. We went 4WD, boating, bushwalking, 90 mile beach and had a lovely relaxing time.

Retreat from city life
This property is a lovely retreat from city life. The house is spacious and rooms as per listing. Be aware there is no air conditioning though and no fans in bedrooms so very hot on hot summer days. Windows allowed for a breeze but that wasn’t much help with extreme heat. The other point to note is the size of the fridge. For a house that sleeps 9, the fridge is very small. We had to go and buy an Eski to keep drinks in as the fridge had no space. The little touches, such as the bread, butter and jam, tea bags and milk were lovely. Beds were uncomfortable and noisy. The pool table a great addition and provided lots of fun. The overall cleanliness not great. The floors were very dirty and there was no mop and bucket so we couldn’t clean them. We had to do some washing of the towels because the floors were so dirty but there is only a very little washing line which made it tricky. The top of the fridge had a bug zapper and was covered in dead bugs.
The location and surrounds of the house were beautiful though, the bird life and Australian Flora made it very relaxing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here but feel there are a few details that could be addressed to make it quite a special stay away.

Very Clean and easy to live in. We had a small child and teenagers with us and the home catered for everyone. Not exactly a beach though- no sand to sit on !The only issue we had was the fridge was too small and didnt get cold enough and the bbq gas bottle ran out . Definitely need the mosquito coils in abundance ! Would stay again though.

We had one of the best family holidays at Acacia Lakehouse. We were excited driving down the long windy driveway through native bush and glad we brought the kids bikes. The house was large with plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed sitting by the lake as kids played (it’s quite shallow) and entertaining local friends. We saw Koalas at nearby Raymond Island and an Echnida out the front! We hired a boat from Bulls Charters for a magnificent day out on the water and enjoyed swimming at the Wattle Point Jetty beach. I agree with other reviews that a larger fridge is required (or second drinks fridge) plus more platters, salad bowls in Kitchen but they had good knives! When we were there the clothes dryer didn’t work and there wasn’t much hanging space which could easily be improved. It did take everyone some adjustment to have no wifi, no smart TV so only DVDs in the lounge. There is a TV antenna in the bedroom but it comes with an ancient television (the kids couldn’t believe how thick it was :-)). None of my suggested improvements impacted our stay, it was one of the best family holidays we’ve had.

My girls and I had an amazing weekend away, the house is spacious and well-appointed, beach/lake access out the back was divine especially at sunrise, and other than a few mozzies out the back, it was a perfect escape for us. Larger more open beach access was a very short drive down the road, and the area was very quiet despite being school holidays and the weekend. We spent a lot of time swimming and floating in the water of the lake, a 20 min drive into Paynesville for lunch on the deck at Pier 70 for great service, a ferry ride across to check out the koalas on Raymond Island, and came away feeling very relaxed after 3 days and 2 nights. Highly recommend!
